He was known for battling in the Chi. check out that old show Nick Cannon use to do. Kanye battles him and some other dues on there. you get to see a piece of Kanye skills in that art. i can't see how people can't tell he was a battle rapper. with all those punch lines he does.

ummm....i knew the figures but forgot there are a few vids on youtube that break it down...but I do know one thing, your content has to be original. UA-cam is strict on it, also you have to be invited by UA-cam.
It's not about his hot lines, that's relevant to his commercial career. But when he came out he had a totally different style that was gaining him clout. At that time his material was new so in a battle his whole 'college dropout image' was as important as the rhyming. But even saying that, Kanye can definitely freestyle well; its true he never came up on battling but I think in his early days he was fit for it. And also, Game mentioned the girls and Ye has mass appeal.
It would be funny to see them battle now...

Idk if you noticed, but Yeezy was not trying on that Sway freestyle. He didnt even want to freestyle, he didnt want to give Sway an exclusive after their little argument lol. He even said after, "that was the only freestyle, with no rhymes" and during the actual freestlye, he even rapped "im gonna freestyle, even if, i, dont want, to"

The production was sporadic and random like the entire concept of the album (if it even had one, which I doubt that it did), and Kanye's lyricism went to absolute shit starting with Yeezus. TLOP is where Kanye started hitting his stride again, but to me Yeezus was a complete mess.
