I went into to a bit of a depression when my dad died 3 years ago to cancer. I don't to think what i'd become if I were to loose my mother too. Dunno why people alway over look that fact.
I saw this tour in person he had a 30 piece orchestra, 5 man rock band, and 3 back up singers for the sampled parts of the songs it was so insane and went off effortlessly.
People find it funny to make fun of Kanye West and say he's not a genius, but musically he IS a genius, no other artist EVER, has taken such a journey through musical evolution in their career, like Kanye West has. Listen to College Drop Out, then Late Registration, then Graduation, then 808s, then Dark Fantasy, and tell me that isn't an insane evolution that could never be replicated.
Kanye's a dope artist and producer, but genius is a bit of a stretch. To say Kanye is a musical genius is to put him in the same category as a Mozart or a Beethoven. Quincy Jones himself said as much. He used to compose full scores on napkins in restaurants without even hearing anything he was composing. Kanye will never be able to do that.
Jayblack1984 I've got to say like, things like that aren't proven. And is genius defined by those surrounding? like how we say Dogs are intelligent.. they're really not, they're stupid as fuck, but compared to most animals they are. My opinion is that Kanye is a musical genius. He's evolved and pushed music forward more than anybody else in the past like 5 generations of music.
Again, that's a bit of a stretch considering the long list of producers that have come before him whose accomplishments literally evolved the sonic landscape of music. Agree to disagree.
I think a LOT of the people commenting here need to learn about the sample culture. It's not just finding a sample and then taking the sound and using it. If that's the case anybody that's ever used a digital recreation of any SOUND at all is SAMPLING that sound. He's not sampling drums, he's not sampling rhythm, he's not sampling lyrics...he is taking old songs and finding creative ways to make them sound new and refreshing and reintroducing them to the world again. Dermot Roche bandawhat33 Those are great legends sir but you have to understand that hip-hop culture is based a whole lot on sampling these greats from the past. It pays homage to what was done in the past and sometimes gives those songs a second life in a new genration. I personally enjot looking up the songs sampled in my favourite hip hop music and just enjoying the good music from the past. Victor Gonzalez Go and listen to "Ready to Die" again and rethink your life. Half of the album is about how poor he was and things he had to do to survive. Also, your comment didn't relate to the original at all.thedondon911911 Biggie wasn't a producer, meaning he wasn't responsible for whether or not his beats contained samples. He's considered a genius as a songwriter/lyricist, which has nothing to do with how people feel about Kanye. Wolf Haley Funny how out of all the lyrics he's ever said that's the one that you felt compelled to quote. I'll let you figure out the implications of that.
thedondon911911 First, learn the difference between stealing and paying homage. And second, learn the different between a "handful" of lyrics (maybe 5-6), and "dozens".
I love how in tyler the creators "cherry bomb" documentary he's the exact same directing and producing with the live orchestra and all. I love the use of sounds that kanye and tyler think of their producing is on another level.
@@NK-vd6wv while Kanye is a better artist than Pac, Pac is unquestionably a better rapper than Ye. Still I would've loved to see a collab between those two artists.
Should definitely be a documentary or a short film or something on Kanye's production alone, to me, he's the greatest producer of all time, when it comes to making a genius sound, there's no other producer that does it like Kanye
The way he directs his collaborators reminds me of the way Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys directed the session musicians on "Smile". Both men are geniuses without a doubt.
For all of you, Jon Brion is the man behind the arrangements of these samples. He's the one that gave Kanye the orchestral sound on Late Registration. Kanye found the samples, Jon arrranged them.
how many hiphop artists these days have an entire ensemble play live to get their recordings dialed in. sampling, live music, human emotion, good lyrics, good cadence, beautiful process.
Unbelievable musicality!!! No other rapper doing this kind of mastermind, pointed production... He knows what he hears and is able to convey it as well, hardest thing to do is create the actual picture/sound you have in your head.... And he got lyrical content!!!
We're never gonna see enough of these behind the scenes/extra's documentaries behind his most iconic music, theres too much material. This man is gonna need a biography, a film length documentary, make it for him before he lives this earth. Don't make the mistakes you made with Micheal jackson, Prince, Tupac, Kurt Cobain etc
A lot of people think its wrong to idolize him because of his public image, but Kanye is the most influential artist of my generation; how could I not.
When I was picking college classes in 99, I saw there were classes on recording studio engineering and a whole program on it....obsessed with music my entire life I thought learning to produce would be living out a dream...but I let my fear of the unknown/being a female in a male-dominated environment consume me and I didn't pursue it. Fear has always held me back but I give a lot of credit to Kanye's openness in pursuing his dreams and not being driven by fear to inspire me now that I'm in my 30s. I still fantasize about producing records though.
You should fight for your dream... It must be hard being a female trying to succeed in the music industry, but it's definitely not impossible, I'm pretty sure you are talented, don't be afraid, you CAN do it :)), everything is hard in the beginning, and if you don't try... You'll never know... I have a similar dream, and I am afraid at times, or doubtful, but we need to try, and enjoy it, cause at the end of the day... Is our passion :).
you are so right...trust me, i think about it all the time! i still have no idea what's stopping me even right this second lol What are you interested in pursuing?
+Stephanie Moran that happens to me very often, my dream is being a pop singer/songwriter/producer, and I'm studying music right now, and I have singing classes at school, but I'm very insecure about my voice, even though I've been told that I'm good, and even when I have to practice, I get afraid, and sometimes I don't even practice because of the fear, I think I just don't feel good enough. Sometimes what helps me, even when it might sound depressive, is that everyone will die someday, and it won't matter if we succeeded or not, or our mistakes, there will not be people to judge what happened, the point is to enjoy what we do, no matter were it takes us, if you love it, go for it :)).
Kkanyye is so. Dedicated and is so thorough with every aspect of production he even. Went to the face paint details..wow so much attention to detail he must be a dream to work with

Ninja Channel who said anything about producing? biggie still stole DOZENS of lyrics and rhyme schemes from slick rick and EPMD
thedondon911911 First, learn the difference between stealing and paying homage. And second, learn the different between a "handful" of lyrics (maybe 5-6), and "dozens".
Kanye is the best connect 4 player of all time
I love how in tyler the creators "cherry bomb" documentary he's the exact same directing and producing with the live orchestra and all. I love the use of sounds that kanye and tyler think of their producing is on another level.
I wish they video'd when they recorded we major.
DUDE HOLY SHIT TRUE
Canaan Carter That song has to be one of the most epic songs in hip hop. The orchestration is just insane 🔥
FR! That song is dope, and the only sample used in that track was the drums, so there was obviously some other instrumentation.
aint it just a sample tho?
I think the horns is what is sample and nothing else fam.
Its a shame its gonna take his death for people to pay attention, understand, and make incredible movies of him
He is literally one of the biggest artists in the world. What are you on about?
Sadly
@@ja6975 not big enough he is prince level and gets treated like cardi b
Just imagine if Kanye and pac made a song together
PAC was not near the talent Kanye is. One is fake and the other is authentic.
@@NK-vd6wv while Kanye is a better artist than Pac, Pac is unquestionably a better rapper than Ye. Still I would've loved to see a collab between those two artists.
@@Meh-ti4nk Not a better rapper listen to We Dont Care and Family Business. Tupac thug life was an act
Twidliybits... The best musical term I've ever heard.
This gig was so damm good. Changed the entire genre for rapping live.
Time will make things change people change but this era of his music/production will never be forgotten!! regardless of where kanye's head at now
Should definitely be a documentary or a short film or something on Kanye's production alone, to me, he's the greatest producer of all time, when it comes to making a genius sound, there's no other producer that does it like Kanye
kanye live at abbey road might be the greates rap performance of all time
I miss the old Ye!!!! I watched this video years ago as I got into Hip Hop production but years later just recently I recorded a Live Orchestra!!!!
The God of music
Manal Belkhoumani Note even close...He's dope but no way!!!!!
The way he directs his collaborators reminds me of the way Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys directed the session musicians on "Smile". Both men are geniuses without a doubt.
LMAO at the end with Kanye playing connect four like always
Kanye is a genius. Also this made me love Late Registration even more
Absolutely loved this, please continue making them! Brilliant idea, brilliant creating.
Oh my goodness all female orchestra what a brilliant idea
@0:36 gets me so hype every time, they way she stops the harp and violinist bring it down
The Kanye we know and love...we need him back!
I once cried to this video
Taking hip hop to the next level.. gotta love the artistry
I’m gonna be so sad when Kanye dies! He’s so misunderstood but he’s such a good guy, a musical genius and one of the greatest artists to ever live!
For all of you, Jon Brion is the man behind the arrangements of these samples. He's the one that gave Kanye the orchestral sound on Late Registration. Kanye found the samples, Jon arrranged them.
Okay but the credits already provide that information.
This dude needs his own movie based on his life
Great work! I love how Kanye puts all his hard work into his songs and genre!
how many hiphop artists these days have an entire ensemble play live to get their recordings dialed in. sampling, live music, human emotion, good lyrics, good cadence, beautiful process.
at 3:16 when he said this gon fuck people and it sure did
sure did lol!
My genius.. Thank you to be who you are.. Godbless KANYE :) i wish someday, when i grew up, i will be you..
beautiful
Unbelievable musicality!!! No other rapper doing this kind of mastermind, pointed production... He knows what he hears and is able to convey it as well, hardest thing to do is create the actual picture/sound you have in your head.... And he got lyrical content!!!
We're never gonna see enough of these behind the scenes/extra's documentaries behind his most iconic music, theres too much material. This man is gonna need a biography, a film length documentary, make it for him before he lives this earth. Don't make the mistakes you made with Micheal jackson, Prince, Tupac, Kurt Cobain etc
The amount of money to make something like this happen is insane.
is that early john legend ?
+James Gordon Yep
+Xiao Lu whats the name of original john song?
Nicodemo Lalli The song John played was Nothing Lasts Forever by Maroon 5 (not by John tho).
It's heard em say by kanye west ft Adam Levine
Yeah
really wish john legend was on the studio version. he brings so much soul to that chorus that adam levine just couldnt deliver.
same
damnn this is amazing! thank so much for sharing the essence of hip hop infused with classical technique
A lot of people think its wrong to idolize him because of his public image, but Kanye is the most influential artist of my generation; how could I not.
This is what u call a masterpiece ladies and gentlemen. This should be in the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress.
Video made 13 years ago like even the title say a genius like only now people realise it
Aw dis is gonna fuck people up
That is so fire I had no idea so much of this album was recorded at abbey road!!!! I live round the corner ye the 🐐
This man is a genius. Blessing to be born in the same timeline
"Do more of what I would do" -Kanye West
When I was picking college classes in 99, I saw there were classes on recording studio engineering and a whole program on it....obsessed with music my entire life I thought learning to produce would be living out a dream...but I let my fear of the unknown/being a female in a male-dominated environment consume me and I didn't pursue it. Fear has always held me back but I give a lot of credit to Kanye's openness in pursuing his dreams and not being driven by fear to inspire me now that I'm in my 30s. I still fantasize about producing records though.
+Stephanie Moran You should try it out! It's never too late!
I knowww, so many people tell me the same thing! Thank you!
Goat. Sir goat
I'm just thankful as hell to have come up in this era for this reason right here..
Kkanyye is so. Dedicated and is so thorough with every aspect of production he even. Went to the face paint details..wow so much attention to detail he must be a dream to work with
So cool to watch Gone be made, my 2nd favourite Kanye song behind Dark Fantasy
I don't think they were making the song. I think they were just preparing it for a live show with an orchestra "Late Orchestration".
Dark Fantasy is just tooo awesome
Listen to 'Ghost Town' off 'ye'.
