Yeah, ha ha, so hilarious and was completely true until, oh, say -- the mid-1980s. Get some new material. Harleys made in the last 40 years don't leak oil. You'd know that if you had ever actually owned one.
It's a 20kw rated goldenmotor. Could take 40kw burst. So that's the power of a full electric car in the space of a motorcycle. Dual phase wires for dual controllers, but it looks like rich is only using one.

I’m a LiveWire owner and absolutely loved everything about this video. 😂 Can’t wait to see the result. FWIW they’re $22k now. Turns out when you take the Harley name off the side of the pretend tank and change literally nothing else they knock off like $7k. 😂

Love it! I recently converted my lawn tractor to electric using Golden motors as well, the smaller 3kw kind. One for the blades, one for the drive. Awesome stuff!

Awesome project - can't wait to see the end result! As an electric motorcycle rider myself, I always thought the big touring bikes would be the obvious first candidates to make electric: they're already super heavy and have much more space for packing with batteries. Far easier to make something with a usable range - rather than the 40-60 freeway miles a Zero or Livewire will get in real life.

I watched the Livewire demo truck in Sturgis and Deadwood all week running their giant diesel generators 24/7 trying to keep the demo rides bikes charged. Why didn’t’t they make a cruiser?
Harley… Doing their best. There’s literally a class action lawsuit going on against them, because they flat out refused to acknowledge or fix the dyna death wobble issue on the non solid engine mount versions. (I admin the Pan America is badass, and really taking the fight to BMW though!)
Taking the fight to BMW? I don't think they can, not even Triumph... And that's ignoring the other proven bikes like the Af-Twins, V-Stroms and Teneres.
@@MiGujack3 Have you actually sat on or ridden the Pan America? They’ve 100% designed the thing with BMW (and the Ducati multistrada) in their crosshairs. It’s the more feature laden, cos-play side of the adventure bike segment, than the Africa twin and the tiger side, but the Harley is surprisingly light and agile.
@@replynotificationsdisabled no its a long known about issue caused by the mounting style of rear control arm coupled with non rigid motor/trans mounts. A simple kit that stiffens the mounts fixes it 95%.
@@replynotificationsdisabled Nope. Basically they put soft engine mounts on the Dyna series to reduce vibration, but somehow kinda forgot that the rear swing arm is mounted to the engine. If they’re pitched into a lean at just the right speed, the engine and frame end up in a tank slapper like oscillation. It’s not user error… Solid mounting the front of the engine fixes it.
Never could get a good read on Stevon. I knew I liked him but couldn't quite figure out what it was about him that gave him cred. The CKY shirt made it clear. Hell of a dude right there.
This is a really exciting build. I love electric motorcycles. Seems like you could buy yourself a lot more space with a Zero motor. That thing you have is easily 2x the size of a Zero motor.

Before I attempt any conversion, I am going to lay out an entire drive system mounted to a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Controller, batteries and even motor. I need to know that I have a working system....THAT I UNDERSTAND before I attempt to convert anything. Rich said himself that he buys motors from people who start, then abandon conversion projects.
