Grace has such great intuition with animals no matter the breed. She is becoming very wise and is such a gift to our world. Thank you Art and Bri for gifting the world with such amazing children.
I am a fourth generation cattle rancher and you are doing all the good!! Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. This is not cruel- it is a kindness to the calf and to yourself to be able to move with it -not injuring yourself or the animal.♥️ Codicil: We don’t halter train anything but our dogie calves. But it is absolutely necessary with those
This was so amazing. Your oldest daughter Grace is beautiful, intuitive, gifted, creative. She has had the best parenting. You give her room to grow and thrive. You are doing the same with the other children you were blessed with. We all appreciate the way you are sharing your precious gifts with us. Thank you.
It warms my heart to see children running barefoot thru dew kissed grass in the morning. I did that growing up. I still do but now I live on a beach. No grass for dew. Grace is so motivated and patient. I bet it is rewarding and even fun to lead a calf. I am glad to her more in front of the camera. I know it's hard. She had a great story telling mentor with Arthur. Best of Everything this holiday season and into the new year
I raised Thoroughbred horses for about 10 years. As soon as the foal hit the ground and was nursing and obviously doing ok, on went the foal halter. The earlier the better I've found. Then you can attach a lead rope after they've gotten used to wearing the halter and teach them to lead. Horses just can't be tied to something especially with the cost of the animal involved. With our horses, how what we did was to attach a lead to the foal, lead out the Momma, and the foal will just naturally follow behind. We'd deliberately stop the Mom and the foal would normally stop also. If/when there was an even mild "tug of war" against the lead, as soon as the foal would stop, we'd ease the tension on the lead as a reward. A couple of weeks of doing this and they were lead trained very well. Takes some patience but seemed to work for us. You are doing a great job!
Gracie, would make a wonderful vet.. or have a farm of her own someday.. I so wished I grew up like your kids are.. it's wonderful the knowledge they are getting.. !!
Grace, you are so wise! Your wisdom and intuition is right on point! I don't know about cattle but know a bit about dogs and your decision to end today's session at that point seems to me extremely correct. Congrats 👏 God Bless Y'all 💖
Grace is the next Pioneer Woman. I believe when she is like 17-18 she will want to build herself a cabin on your land or her own. She'll have a ton of animals.
Leave the garden and animal's incharge with Grace she will look after it 100% well n you can go n take care of the babies, you no need to worry.....she is awesome 👌👍
It it so good to see your family and the interaction with the farm animals. I was raised a farm girl and I know the values that are instilled in children that live on farms(homesteads). I would really enjoy winning one of the birdhouses or the placemats. I jumped on her and don’t know exactly how to enter. I have watched all of your videos and enjoy your family so much.
Grace, thank you. I learned something new because of you, your love and appreciation for His creation. I thank the Lord for you. Greetings from New Hampshire
Grace just brilliant I had Quarter horses & yes same method- calves are more stubborn I think but you will win with persistence & kindness. Loved this video. Cheers Denise- Australia
I wish more did this with their animals. There will come a day when they need to treat that large 1500lb animal for an injury, or load it, and because they don't take the time when they are young, they can't get them to do what they need. It can cause serious injury for the person or the animal. Grace is a natural!
Love the dad-daughter interaction. I was the eldest daughter in our family of 4 kids and I adored the time I was able to spend with my dad teaching and helping me with all the things I loved (in my case rabbit raising and other various 4-H projects). Loving all you share from North Idaho zone 6a 💚🐄🌲
So proud of you Grace! You are so good with the animals, i can definitely see you becoming a Homesteader/farmer with your own place in a few years. If I'm still around will definately follow your channel!👍😀👍
I love seeing Grace starting early with the calf. She is doing such a good job reading him. The patience pole is a great way to start a calf. Something else you could ad to that time is brushing and picking up hooves maybe more for the heifer calves but always great to have an animal that is use to all parts of its body handled in case of injury or illness.
You can waffle all you like Art but the truth is Grace is the one with the knowledge, she is a natural with animals just let her be and watch even you will be amazed at what she can achieve, she is a lovely young lady
Thanks, that calf is learning young while still manageable. The things us kitty and backyard gardeners learn on your channel is grand. Great job Grace. Better than 4H
My Dad got 5 Angus cross heifers from a neighbor dairy who had made his special cross cow. They were 3/4 Angus 1/8 Holstein and 1/8 Jersey. They looked like Angus but were a lot better milkers but not such heavy milkers that the calf couldn't keep up with the milk.He broke them to lead and to milk. Even though we didn't really milk them because they were beef cows it was useful several times in emergency situations.
Grace is such a beautiful young lady with an amazing love of animals and their proper care! She looks just like Bri, so beautiful! I'd say within another week of doing what she's doing with baby Texas, he will follow her anywhere she takes him! He's going to grow up to be a big ole baby!🥰 Did you sell Ferdinand, or loan him out to the same farmer that kept him last winter?
Reminds me of putting a collar on a kitten. Leave it too late and you have no chance. Boy do they not want that either. For would-be kitten owners, put it on when they’re asleep, they totally think it’s normal when they wake up 🙊🐈⬛🐾🖤
I put a halter on my calf 2 days after she was born. I went to tractor supply and got a pony holster and punched a lot more holes so I have a lot of adjustments and so far so good she has got so used to now it doesn’t bother her that it’s on
I've watched several videos on halter training a cow because I am getting two, a mother and calf, and I have to gentle and halter train them both. This was the most helpful video for me so thank you very much for sharing.
hey ART you guys are doing a great job I love that farm grace you are so amazing person, a little handful of you training the calf is so much greatful of you baby girl powerful family like ART and BRi 🙏🙏👍🇯🇲
It makes sence to start haltertraining the calf early. He is already strong. I have noticed that Justins milkcows also kick during milking from time to time. It happens when they are out of food. They are calm as long as they have something to eat. Love your videos. 😊
Oh, us humans and our.interventions! Today I was going thru our Christmas box and came across our dogs Xmas jammies - yes, I said that and we put a pair on each pup. Oh my, the humiliation! They both sat as if they'd been beaten and would barely walk. 😂 We thought it was funny - they didn't. We have a cute little hook the jammies are now hanging from/nm, Sophie and Milo. 😍 The calf.is so adorable. It will be fun to watch him progress..
How do you know when to end the session and take the halter off? Presumably he shouldn't pull whilst taking the halter off, otherwise you would be rewarding the pull.
I am a novice and know nothing but am going to to get cattle in the future. My question is; Have you put the halter on; then bottle fed him? Maybe the positive experience of the bottle may distract from the halter and help him associate the halter positively? Or is the halter enough he wont bottle feed?
Readup on 4_H kids train calf s and sheep like this when there young, I was hoping some one would move the bike so he did not get caught up in the wheels
Grace is so good with animals. She has the loving patience it takes to train an animal.
Grace has such great intuition with animals no matter the breed. She is becoming very wise and is such a gift to our world. Thank you Art and Bri for gifting the world with such amazing children.
Grace is doing awesome, so patient! I can see that she is growing into a young woman, not so much a little girl anymore.
"Your not actually winning. I am letting you go." Grace, you are a treasure and I see wisdom that exceeds your years. Blessings to all.
Grace has such a gift with animals! There is no doubt whatsoever that she will be a great teacher to the other kids.
Grace is so smart. What an awesome young lady.
I am a fourth generation cattle rancher and you are doing all the good!! Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. This is not cruel- it is a kindness to the calf and to yourself to be able to move with it -not injuring yourself or the animal.♥️

Grace is amazing. What a wonderful way she has with animals. She is wise beyond her years.
Grace is such a lovely person!! Grace you are so patient and caring! What a beautiful soul!!

Well done Grace. You're very patient. Thanks for sharing
Grace would be a great Veterinarian. Great job Grace!!
I've used this method on a few different livestock since I was a kid...I'm 60 now..lol..you're doing a great job young lady...

yes we did the same with our quarter horses, using momma to help our training
Yes Grace does have the calming nature about her. God bless you all for sharing.

It’s amazing how strong young calves are. I’ve been dragged by a few. Loved the video.
Wow, thanks for explaining how you halter train a calf. I never knew about that. Cool!
Hi Art & Bri,Grace is just amazing & such a responsible young lady. All the kids seem so happy & that is wonderful.Have a wonderful tomorrow!👏😊👍

Grace, much like her mother, has a gentle but firm demeanor.

That bull calf has a beautiful face. Too cute.

Grace sure is becoming such a nice young lady. Really seeing the changes in her.

I'm so glad you started training earlier. 💖🌞🌵😷
You need to watch 1806 Stone house. This man did a wonderful job of rehab on his house.
Same thing trying to get a dog to walk on a leash.... Lovely videos keep them coming....
I will suggest flipping the halter around and putting it on properly
Yes the lead should come off the left side of the face.
Grace did mention that it flipped and was on the wrong side.
Blessings to all!
Grace is definitely an "Animal Whisperer".
Halter training is a huge must especially for those that show cows in 4H at fair's.
GRACE, YOU ARE VERY PATIENT 🦅💗🤍💙🦅
He is handsome. Wow 2 weeks old.
Nice job Grace!
Good job Grace, you are so smart and very responsible.
Grace is great with the animals..
Have a good evening ❄❄❄

You are using the exact halter training techniques needed for calves. Well done!
He's so funny, " I'm a tough Bull , I can get Away!"
Great job Grace👏💪.
JO JO IN VT 💕😄

This is great. I have a five day old highland that the mother has rejected. Currently bottlefeeding and trying to halter train
Grace has such a great demeanor💖

Any chance of an update on grace's pigeons? I'm so curious! Thanks for another great video!
I was wondering too.
Grace, you are such a smart, amazing young lady! Thanks so much for sharing you knowledge and skills with us all.
Grace is a pro!!🙏💕🙏

It was great 👍 won’t take too long..
Grace you are amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing your halter training methods with us!!
Ughhh, I don't do instagram. Therefore I cant register for the giveaway. Oh well. Good luck to everyone!
Hi Beth, instagram is optional for a second entry. Email works as well!
@@peter2160 thank you!! I didnt realize I could. Gettin old sucks.. haha
Grace is such. sweet young lady
For those of you getting new puppies for Christmas, this method also works for leash training dogs.
Well done grace 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻
Good morning good people. From Ontario
Perfectly made grace
Shes an awesome kid!
Awesome job!
Grace is great! She should become a nurse or a veterinarian.
Beautifulfamily Art. Grace is a Jem.
He’s so spunky, it’s better to do it now than when he’s bigger. Halter training is really hard when they have weight leverage.
My papa Tony would slip a little halter on the calves as soon as they were born...no lead rope, of course...but they were absolutely used to it
Could we get an update on the pigeons? How are they doing? How many do you have now?
Blessings
Grace will be a great vet if she decides to become one she has a way with animals. Y'all still had the pigeons ?🎄✌💖💪👨🍳🎅🚌👍
film cafe and Grace in a week and then two to show fast progress!
I didn't read through all the comments so maybe it was already answered but how did you guys tie this halter?!
*PARABÉNS LOIS SOUTHARD👏👍*
How do you know when to end the session and take the halter off? Presumably he shouldn't pull whilst taking the halter off, otherwise you would be rewarding the pull.
perfect
