I got a request from many of you to make a drill press stand. I also needed one since the one I bought and using atm has some flaws. So here it is. It is a benchtop drill press stand that can be used with multiple types of drills - designed for drills with a 43mm neck. The drill can be easily removed and attached again. For a tight fix and 90 degree fine tuning I made an adjustable vertical fix. I made the whole build detachable so all parts are easily removable and replaceable. The drill I am using has 1,5kg - heavier ones can be used as well.

👍 THANKS! Check the description for more information.
Espectacular!!! muchas gracias.
Anyone watching this and wondering how it's held in place without springs: He uses a scrap piece of wood to temporarily hold it up. Watch from 21:58 onwards.
I’m happy I found you! Been watching all your video with my father. I’m shocked you aren’t more famous on here!
Welcome aboard! I am happy you like the videos. 🙂 Persistency is the key (I hope 😉). Are you building anything?
Very meticulous build and attention to detail. There are much simpler builds but for the avid woodworker which you appear to be, excellent work. Enjoyed watching.
Hi
I've seen a lot of good designs and yours looks to be good and solid and best of all simple.
WELL DONE
Thanks 4 showing me what to do better & more efficiently… as much as possible have the piece pre drilled etc, before assembly.
Thank you too, much appreciated :)
Very nice working idea on drill stand.
Adorei o trabalho , lindo de se ver
WOW ! very nice , good job
I finally grabbed the chance to watch your new video Lukas. Wow, I like the design with two rails for stability, it looks very precise. Plus vice, brilliant. Excellent work, keep up the creative work! Cheers
Hi Boris, happy to see you here and thanks for the compliments. We know how it goes with comments ;) Appreciated. :)
Simple y eficiente,Una joya.Gracias
Muchas gracias Mario :)
incredible way to make drill stand! thank you for for sharing this video. btw what is a diy ruler stopper or something do u use with your ruler?
Excelente video.
Hola Diego, muchas gracias. Gracias y saludos a Medellín. 🙂
Muito bom esse projeto
Vc poderia compartilhar as medidas
Looks good m8 nice to watch thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it :)
Muito bem gostei 👍
this idea is amazing. coz i dont hve welding machine.its very useful got to make myself definitely.thanks
Thanks Gary! :D Let me know how it went
Tentarei fazer um tbm. O seu ficou top, parabéns
Tahnk you! Let me know how it turns out :)
Hello. Your design is very good. Have you added a spring inside the part where the drill is installed to keep the mechanism up? I didn't see it in the video. but the mechanism remains above. If there was no spring, the drill would have to come down with its weight.
Hello, there is no spring. I am using a plywood piece to support the drill press from below when idle :)
My kind of DIY… “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Total focus of the subject matter! 👍
Hey friend
Well done for an amazing job, what an excellent construction.
I would be happy if you could add the construction parts to the print of the stand for the drill
Please please, I have been looking for a long time to build a stand for a drill (and I would be happy to build one just like that
Thank you! :)
Thank you so much :)

Your idea is practical. Have you thoughts OF selling The finished product?
D'avance merci
What did u use to hold it up while still is sitting in it ? As slides won’t hold it up.
Awesome drill press. I know you replied to another person regarding the drill coming down with its own weight. It seems to be spring-loaded somehow and I don’t see that step in the video or in your comments on the video. Can you please explain? Really enjoy your work!!
Watch from 21:59 to 22:01. Looks to me like he temporarily placed a scrap piece of wood to hold it up.
I am a beginner. What kind of wood is that? What do you recommend? Thank you.

Thank you :)
Great modular design. It is good to have the sliding part built separately from the column. One question, are drawer slides accurate enough? Typically to slide smoothly, they need to stay a bit loose. That would introduce some play and could make less accurate. Right?
Hello, honestly I have problems with this build. The drawer slides are holding pretty well. There is no space for any movement, they don't "wiggle". Next time I would probably use better slides (quality slides), but after having this drill stand for a few years now, I've had no issues.
Hello, do you have plans available?
what is the name of the track you are using and where to buy it
Thanks a lot
great video
Could you please share the dimensions of the parts?
I'll be sharing plans for this build :)
Great job but.. without measures there is only another video to watch I can not replicate but only take ideas.
Thanks Mau Ro, working on the measurements
@@AllFlavorWorkshop Thanks! 👍
What type of double sided tape is that?
Bravo.👍🍸
thanks :)
Where is the spring kept to retract the moving part to come to normal position. I could not see such arrangement. Please reply. Rgds. India.
Hello Mohan, there is no spring in this build. It is a manual process, down an up.
@@AllFlavorWorkshop okay thanks u a lot.
Çox gözəl. YouTub da izlədiyim ən səliqəli və dəqiq usda.
Thank you mate, that is great support and appreciation. Stay safe Karim.👍
Very nice and clean project. The video doesn't show any spring. How the drill goes up?
Hello, there is no spring in this build. I push and pull the drill manually. The drill is quite light, so there is not much of a problem but having a spring is definitely a good point. I am planning on making another improved build with a spring included. Thanks!
Bom dia cadê a medida
No need I guess. If you have a good drill press then use the drill press. Though there is one advantage - this one is portable. :)
Excel !!!!
Thank you :)
Hi Lukas, I really enjoy you videos. Do you have plans for your designs?
Hi Paul, thanks for the comment, thanks for the support. 👍 I do have plans. Almost for every jig I built. I have them on paper though. I'd like to publish a web page with additional info on my projects. Though I found out this is quite time consuming ;) I have it on my to do list for this year 🙂 Thanks Paul
Thanks Roger, happy you liked it. Plans to be published yet ;) I have them on paper yet - not in sketchup. Stay safe, thank you.
Very good slow job, but one question; there's no spring holding up the dill, on the test run you only showed work and not the whole thing. How's that?
Hi Henry, indeed, there is no spring. The drill press sits on the table. That could be a good improvement though. I dont find it necessary. atm. I am using a lightweight drill and there is really not much weight you need to hold.
Building stand is very nice and neet, but without using any spring, how can a drill machine withstand in the middle or top. It is impossible as due to weight of the machine, sliding door go down upto bottom and no chance of uplift. Can u pl answer how a sliding door withstand in the middle or top?
Hi Chakrapani, true. This is a basic version of a drill stand. No springs, no rulers for measurements - though excellent precision . I most likely will be making an upgraded one with all the nice add-ons. If not used it always goes down. I am using a supporting piece of plywood to keep it in an up position to change the drill bits.
Hi sir i got a doubt, Can u explain how there is a spring movement?
Hello Arshad, there is no spring movement. I didn't add a spring to this build though I was thinking about that. Most probably the next one - once I make the upgraded version. Right now it is just me holding the drill and moving up and down. To fix it I use a supporting piece of wood. 👍
Great design, but what tensions the drill slide so it moves back up ?
Hi Patrick, that is a manual process, there is no spring or anything like that. ;)
@@AllFlavorWorkshop aha ... clear. would it be very hard to add a tensioning system to this design ? I first have to build a track saw guide. Once that is done I am having a go at this drill press.
@@pdemaers Hi Patrick, I gave it a thought and I have few ideas. I think it would be possible. Just to make sure the tension is applied equally and the drill press wont get skewed when pushed down. I am also planning on creating a new version of this drill press with the tensioning system included. So hopefully soon ;)
What’s keeping the drill up?
Are you using springs
Hello Donald, this drill press does not have a spring. I am holding the drill press manually (the drill is quite light, so there's no problem). When not used I support the base with a plywood strip. Although for my next builds I plan to make one with a spring included.
anyone knows what the drill bit used for countersinking in the video called? one without the drilling part.
Hello Taeksoo, if you mean for the t-nuts, then I am using a Forstner bit. Hope that helps
@@AllFlavorWorkshop thank you for your reply, I actually meant the one you used at 5:45 ua-cam.com/video/aeOTjQcs7FI/v-deo.html
I didn't understand something. And how is it done that the drill does not slide down under its own weight?
There is a comment below
I want to, make a drill press with a drill press 😉
TOP VIDEO \ can you pass the MATS of the parts \ I want to make one too. GREETINGS FROM HOLLAND
Hello Fati, thank you for the support. I appreciate it. I 'm making the plans one by one, hopefully soon for this built. Just a little more, please bear with me.
have to ask but where is the spring to keep it up on the track
Hello, there is no spring in this build. I am pulling the drill back up manually. I could see this might be an issue with a heavy drill but this one is quite light. Anyway, a spring would do also fine. I have been thinking about making another build with a spring included. 👍
Did u ever think of maybe using a sprig to help the drill come back up a little easier my friend.
Sorry if I sound picky but it might have made no difference to ur build.. Just a suggestion pal.
I really enjoyed watching ur work mate.
One thing I wanna say that'll probably sound weird but big shout out to u and another guy I've seen on here doing the same work. UR HANDS ARE ALWAYS SPOTLESS.. 😂 Sorry if that sounds weird man but I'm impressed with anybody who keepy their hands so clean during the usage of any tools & especially with using that bloody wood glue. Salute to u my bro. Loved watching this video and I've just sub'd ur channel.. 🛠
Thank you, mate. :) I have.. And I've been wanting to make another one, but other projects keep coming in the way ;) Again, I appreciate it. Thank you for subscribing. Wishing you a great day 🙂
Give us the drawing templet
Well done, only gripe I have with this is that you are using a drill press to make a drill press.
Nice job but considering time and material you can just buy one
Ä
Interesting design. But... you cannot make a drill press using a drill press... Those kinds of DYI videos are meant to help folks who *don't* have already the tools the video is supposed to help you build ;)
Thanks the comment Pascal, consider it an upgrade. ;)
Thanks for the gorgeous video, Lukas👍
