the early model headlight motors were a lot better than the late model ones, they were just a lot noisier. What would fail on them was the relays, so you just replace the relay. Later model ones, especially 4th gens, ate gears. The only saving grace is you would use the back side of the gears and double the life of the unit. There were some guys making brass gears for them too.

I’d look to see if it had a air foil. For over 10 years of looking I only found 2 in the salvage yard both off 87 gta 350’s that was crashed shortly after they was purchased with the low mileage on the odometers other then those 2 I bought from jegs and summit but anyways I could be wrong been a good while since messing .with 3rd gens. That air box should face the front but the center shaft or rod that the lid bolts 2. Is or has been turned and is off set or the air box isn’t for that side of the car. But most likely the rod and base has been moved well turned more then it should have anyways I always remembered my brother in laws 87 gta 350 he bought it new off the showroom floor in late jan 87, and it’s breather was always facing to front for the air coming through the underside of car from air dam it help push the cold air in the breather. But whatever either way works just fine. Other then those pesky leaves always finds a way in the air box lol. Thanks for the reply and have a awesome day!! You could even try spraying the drain holes that run alongside them and see if anything drains out. After watching this video in full, i wanted to respond with some ideas. I dont have one of my own YET. But I think everyone should replace the stock engines, transmissions, rears, suspension, seats, tire width, sound system, speakers, and modernize these cars, so they perform EVEN BETTER THAN THE NEW CARS OF TODAY! AND LOOK SOOOO MUCH TOO! I understand for some people its all about the ORIGINAL CAR. : / BUT! For me, the driving experience is ALL ABOUT THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. Ok so we have a car that was the star back in its day! BUT NOW WITH THE ADVANCES IN PERFORMANCE ( which covers everything i would and will be, replacing from the original stock car when i get it ) IT JUST MAKES SENSE TO USE THESE MODERN PARTS. AND THAT COMBINED WITH THE COOL THAT THIS CAR WAS MADE WITH JUST IN ITS DESIGN! : ) WILL MAKE THAT DRIVING EXPERIENCE SOOOO MUCH BETTER..... ( and who doesnt really want THAT? ) So consider everything i have said here, and ENJOY YOUR 87 TRANS AM!
