@@albertng888 About three-quarters of Australia's population lives in the 13 largest cities Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Perth,Adelaide,Gold Coast,Wollongong,Newcastle,Townsville,Cairns,Hobart,Canberra and Darwin. All but Canberra are situated on the coast with good-to-great climate, and they're all quite far from the desert region that covers much of the centre of the continent. I've travelled to many countries-a few may equal Australia, but, all things considered, nowhere I've been is better. It's now over 26 million people-and that's plenty for making acquaintances, having fun times with lots of friends etc, wherever you go. Over-populated countries like China India Bangladesh Pakistan and Indonesia are poorer coz of the large population, which is certainly not better.
@@albertng888 While there is in Australia a larger area that's desert than not,it's such a large country that the area along the more than 4,000 km(approx 2,500 miles)stretch on the east coast of Australia from Cairns in northern Queensland around to Adelaide in South Australia that's not desert(where most people are),is at least as great as places like the U.K.,Japan,France or Germany. So most of Australia's population can and do generally ignore the desert, and make the most of their lives and activities on that 2,500 mile habitable stretch extending perhaps between 10-100 miles inland along much of the eastern coast. We know this YUUGE desert is there in the middle of the country, but it impacts most east coast people lives no more than if they lived in those other non-desert and affluent countries I mentioned.
I'm Swedish and has been living in Australia for 1 and a half year. I make about twice the money for the same type of work. I think you have the highest minimum wage in the world and climate zones enough to locally grow pretty much any fruit/vegetable/etc. you want. If you're not happy in Australia I'd suggest you to do what I did, travel and see the world, compare it to what you have back home, if you like another place try to move there.
Yeah I also love the misconception that people think Canberra is cheaper than the other major cities, they just assume since it's 1/10th the size, the cost of living must naturally be lower. However, real estate in general is around the same overall price (sometimes higher, sometimes lower) - the pinnacle places to live are cheaper in Canberra ($5mil+), but that's obvious since it has less very high-end living (not really high end, just if u wanna live right on Pitt street what do you expect). For the average person, Canberra house/rent pricing is the same, the cheap end of the market I think may even be more expensive. Food is more expensive by far, activities are more expensive, fuel and transport is MUCH more expensive.
ACT means Australian Capital Territory, it's not the city name. The city is Canberra, and it's the political capital of Australia. Canberra is in the ACT.
anne smith They drive on the left side of the road, with the steering wheel on the right hand side of the car, (just like everywhere else in Aust). I think that’s what you meant to say.
@@suej9329 That's what driving on the left means. Even if you have a lefthand drive car (and you can specially licence them in Aust), you still drive on the left side of the road.
Ian Ker Yes, I do understand, it still doesn’t account for the video showing a clip of cars driving on the right side of the road in Brisbane. It shows how phony some of these video clips are, especially when done from overseas.
Cairns hinterland is totally wonderful. Elevated, so cooler and less humid in Summer (except Kuranda, in the rainforest, which is cooler but more humid), not too cold in Winter - average daytime temp around 25 degrees C, within an hour from Cairns and Port Douglas, and Cairns' international airport. The Great Barrier Reef and brilliant tourism facilities and services are all in reach. Land on the Atherton tablelands, given it's proximity to a city like Cairns, is a fraction of the price, of the other 9 locations mentioned. Having lived in three states of Australia, the Atherton Tablelands, Atherton to Mareeba in particular, is the pick for us and where we found our acreage "forever home".

Interesting. So did I. Lived there for 5 years total, but left for Canada in 1990 instead. They were racist and just not accommodating at the time. This was before the internet existed. I allowed my permanent resident status to expire. Went back to visit in 2010, and people were still rude, asking me why I was taking pictures, or flipping middle finger while driving past honking. The epitome of horror was when I tried to take a picture of a flock of Cockatoos on the roadway outside Bendigo, and a car drove right through the flock of birds, killing about 13 of them, right in front of me. I have no regrets having made Canada my home country.

Dear researcher, Australia is a beautiful country. However, please do not mislead people on job opportunities, especially in terms of South Australia / Adelaide...overall job opportunities are very low in Adelaide and in many other cities as compared to other countries. Yes it is livable in terms of facilities, infrastructure and parklands...but professional people mostly move to Melbourne or Sydney for career opportunities, because to live you need to earn and also your satisfaction lies in pursuing a career in your field. Secondly if you have been to Canberra you would not call it a proper city. It is more of a town ( very scatteted) with foreign embassies and federal government departments formed in there when it was undetermined whether the capital city should be Sydney or Melbourn. It would be good if you provide the right information.in terms of career opportunities and economy. That will help people in true sense. Thanks.
As an American expat who lived in Australia for 23 years, this video is an accurate assessment of the cities described. However, climate is overlooked. Each city has its own distinct weather. Brisbane (Brissy) is hot and humid for six months of the year. Sydney's summer is also hot and humid. The ACT is a dry heat (think California) during the summer months. Melbourne and Adalaide are known for heat waves in summer. Hobart, I think, is ideal - four distinct seasons. Australia is an ideal place to raise a family. Generally, the pace of life is a bit slower than the US and allows one to 'breath' psychologically and spiritually. I loved living there and hope to return. Good luck.
Darwin (metro population is 1 million) and Cairns (150.000 citizens in city center) cities are only 4 hours international flights to Bali, Singapore by direct flights at affordable prices. If you are bored of living in 10-12 hours of flights to Sydney from those ascertained cities or from Bangkok Thailand, those 2 cities are best to settle in and live forever. If you are americans, canadians, british to invest in 400.000-1.500.000 AUD villas, mansions, then choose northern states of Australia.
I really love the voice of this Narrator. In fact, she's my most favorite among the Narrators of this Channel. Edwin Dulfo from Manila, Philippines saying "Hello, World!"
In some places in America people would never buy a house for more than 500,000 dollars; however, a 2 bedroom, one bathroom house near me in Sydney that had nothing going for it (no view, old and run-down, on a main road, etc) sold for around 1.5 million. It’s insanity
It all depends on where you live. I come from California where I would’ve never been able to afford a home. I’m currently in Adelaide and can afford a home if I wanted.
The weather there is perfect. Around 18 deg. during the day in winter. I can assure you that some days in the winter the temperatures are warmer than London at the exact same time, and it’s summer over there.
Sorry but regional areas are off the pollies radar for funding and consideration. We get neglected constantly and shafted in the long run. Peaceful though compared to the city life drama!

My parents home recently sold for $730, 000, my father paid under $2,000 seventy years ago. Australia is a beautiful country though, we mainly live on the coast because the middle is desert. Free health care, free hospital stay.

Hello How are You
This person has obviously never lived in any of these places.
Charlie Brown exactly that’s wot i thought
Nice

"Darwin (metro population is 1 million)"
the entire northern territory has a population of under a quarter of a million...
Darwin has only about 150,000 people, and the whole of the Northern Territory has only 250,000.

Some scenes in this video has cars driving on the right ... 🤔 In Australia we drive on the left ... But I do agree that Melbourne is number one.
Melbourne has turned into a massive sh*thole by massive Third World immigration and no spending on infrastructure. It's filthy, traffic-jammed and looks like a Third World dump now. All thanks to the major politifal parties.
china is number one
@@JP-qn4uo couldn't agree more. Melbourne is a disgusting place these days.

@@cherrylleallan2825 Nice meeting you, where are you from??
@@sheilawhite9547 Brisbane, Qld Australia ❤
@@cherrylleallan2825 I'm from UK. So what do you do for a living?
Been in Melbourne 3 years, wouldn’t rate it number one.
Weather is dire and unless you live in the city, it’s pretty unremarkable. Winter seems to never end and then for the short period it does, you get the full force of the sun blasting down on you. Canberra is colder but I’d rate Melbourne’s weather worse. Cold is one thing, being blasted by icy wind and rain at the same time is worse.
If you choose to stay in the city, be prepared to overpay for a shoebox. I’d definitely rate it as the most overrated Australian city. Moving to Brisbane shortly, can’t wait.
ltchy ba11s weather got you down?

Perth universities a significant distance from the city? UWA is about 3 kilometres from the city, ECU is about 3km, curtin uni is about 10 km and murdoch is about 16km lol
Wow! I definitely have to add Australia to the bucket list😍

Adelaide is very underrated. it a great city you should visit
I have visited many times. Horrible climate.
it sounds so weird just being called Gold Coast, 'the' there should definitely be a 'the ' before Gold Coast

“The ACT”! You mean Canberra.
