First things first thank you!! That hose hung for months after I bought my civic, problem fixed, had no idea about the nipple on the back of the air intake manny!! Fixed my issue!

That line just slid off, my gosh. I also bit the bullet of replacing the iacv. Bought a set of clamps off Amazon we will see if the code comes back. Just holding the line in place by hand idle was much better. 😢

gets me so mad when people use a scanner and replace stuff without diagnosing first... the scanner doesn't tell you whats wrong it tells you what is the fault what the computer sees is happening. sadly there's lots of mechanics that really are just parts exchangers.
Okay I did this and after a while my car started stalling when I threw it in neutral, and then I would take off the tube and it wouldn’t stall but it would misfire like it did before I put the tube back on, do I need to replace the tube?
Thank you so much you are a life saver 🤗 I did the same thing bought the idle air control sensor and yes it definitely was expensive I paid $160 for mines....now I'm going to check the vacuum line hopefully that's the problem 👍👍👍
hi everyone, I had the same problem with the civic. mines a year 2000 EX trim. when in park/neutral the idle would be at 1500 and then rise to 2000 and then back down and up and down and up. this repeats until the end of time. I actually found a similar disconnected vacuum hose from going between my evap canisters and the nipple on the intake manifold. i plugged it back in and it didn't help much. it made the idle a bit smoother but when the engine got a bit warm (needle a bit above cold) the problem came back. what actually was my car's problem was that the Iacv was gummed up with deposits from 16 years and 370000km of driving. thank you for sharing what you know. your video + Eric's inspired me and gave me the strength to not give up on the little bugger. thanks again :)
I was having the same issue after I had my engine rebuilt. I change all 3 sensor and was still having that check engine light come one and have the rpm surge. I saw your video and had no clue that a tube behind the manifold exists let alone it was not connected after the engine was put back. I check and sure enough the tube was disconnected. I plugged it back and no more surge and more idle bounce. Thanks!
I did the SAME thing you did, I put on new iacv and new map sensor and it did NOTHING! Until one day I was checking the power steering rack then I noticed that air was being sucked in the little nipple so I put my finger over it and the idle dropped from 2k to about 800!
Thank you... just had the same exact issue with the same exact hose!! Was killing myself trying to figure out the problem. It was that exact vacuum hose. Thank you
i am having the same issue my 2000 civic ex is idling fine when cold but the very instant any throttle is applied, it rolls back down to 1000 rpm and bounces up to 2000 repeatedly. once the car is running for a short amount of time and i come to a stop and idle, it thumps around 1500-1800 rmps and the power is very laggy, boggs down, when im driving and let off the throttle or give it some it’s very jerky, ive replaced the throttle body gasket, the intake manifold gasket, the idle control valve, had my coolant system flushed and cleared of any bubbles or pockets of air, my vaccuum line is connected and perfectly in tact, im am completely out of options and can’t seem to find what is going on

Is there a reason why it could have popped out by itself?
Happy to have helped, 7 years ago I was in your situation. I had this happen to other time while owning it and it was during hard braking I think. Or maybe it was the hard driving, it was a long time ago. The first time I don't know what caused it honestly. I just replaced the vacuum line because they were old.
Thank you so much man! My friend just traded his 95 civic for a 2000 si, and it had this exact same problem. We capped the nipple on the intake manifold and the car ran perfect!
FOR ALL THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW! The line he had missing in this video is for the cruise control! Who needs that just close the whole and there you go problem solved.
Thank you! I watched this just before I was going to the shop. I must have pulled it loose changing my oil filter from the top. That’s when my car started being a jerk. Thanks again!
I was looking at my friend's civic his idles surges around 1000 to 750 after it gets revved up. I noticed that line in your video goes from his intake manifold to small canister and then it's just block off some one stuck in pencil in the line where does that line connect to I can't find it?
Dude you're a life saver. Thank you. I been having problems forever now and once I seen this video I got and look and my hose was hanging.. Lol. Thanks man! Subscribe for sure
Most of the cold air intakes - especially the ones on ebay - don't actually filter anything thru the cone when it's dry. It's supposed to be sprayed with oil to capture the small particles in the air (unless it's designed to run dry, like the K&N cone). If you're running a wet filter dry, it's doing NOTHING. After a while of driving you'll surely scratch up the cylinder walls, and some of the contamination will reach the crankcase.

There a number of vacuum hoses, this is just one. On the D series engine it will probably be located on a different spot.

Hey man, thanx for the vid, Had a dirty IACV giving me idle issues, so I cleaned it. Everything was fine until 2 days after, got the same issue. 2000 rpm jumps down to 1000 back and forth. Thought the IACV gone bad. Nearly bought a new one to see that fucking small vacuum hose had come off. Put it back on, problem fixed. This time I put some cable ties around it to it wont come off.
