I don’t agree with needing every single member of the family on board with your partner. Yes it’s important of course to have them approve of your partner, the people who genuinely care about you. But if you start listening to every member who might have their own issues and opinions they bring into it, they can interfere with a good thing in a relationship just because of their own baggage. So it has to be balanced imo

So Andrew would consider ditching Shawn if his family wants him to? being he's more committed to them?
She looked uncomfortable 38:47 when he said that. If that's the scenario, Gosh... that would be sooo scary and sad at the same time... I mean I get the concept of strong family ties here but he has his own family now and that includes Shawn with their children and him being stable in every possible aspects... I know there are certain boundaries that shouldn't be crossed but I don't think you have to overlook the fine lines, too, you know...Sure do hope that he didn't mean it that way. Afterall, I think we can all agree that we want marriages to work and thrive, right?
Overall, I enjoyed this episode, they seemed to be a lot happier in this one. 💙💙💙

Andrew, I exactly what you’re talking about with the braces/ trumpet combo. I went from playing without for 3 years, playing with for 3, and then without again. Such a struggle to adjust each time 😂 So glad you guys are redoing this series!! I loved following along with the original series ❤

I am thankful to also come from a wonderful family and I had the same experience where if someone didn’t sign off then I don’t think I could continue with the relationship. My husband came into the picture and he was like the missing puzzle piece of my heart. My family loved him, and his family loved me too. We have been married 7 years and have 4 beautiful children all 5 years and under.
Shawn and Andrew you remind me so much of my husband and I. We seem to have the same temperments. Unboxing a trumpet is 100% something my husband would do. I tell him he bring the “color into my life” because I just never know what to expect 😂 whereas I’m very schedule oriented, checklists, and get everyone where they need to go.
I love this dating series because it reminds me of ours…. Such sweet times. Thank y’all for being transparent and sharing your stories. ❤
    Sending love from Louisiana

❤❤❤. Please read to the end because (while very sincere) Mrs. East will also get a good laugh.
So special. I am glad Mr. East made it through trumpet/headache day. I would suggest building a sound room. Mr. East's athletic capabilities are impressive, but he never seemed to feel emotionally comfortable there.
Hearing him speak about videography and now the trumpet, he sounds more himself. I hope you go with a sound room, but I believe (yes just a belief) that he will be back to his 8th grade 1st chair level and beyond. As you both pointed out the East Family is strong and you have to be athletic, which Mr. East has proven he is more than capable. However I think he is more genuinely a creative with strong business acumen, music, theater, and videography skills. I think he is finally coming into his own as a psychologist, father, husband, and more artistic side. I hope Mr. East owns this and progresses quickly enough to not hurt too many ears for too long, especially Mrs. East 😊.
⚠️ warning unsolicited advice: tip to Mr. East, buy Mrs. East an Oboe and get her in on the action 😂❤. (If you can't beat 'em, join 'em logic 😉).
It is truly great to hear Mr. East talk about himself confidentiality and positively, which is opposite to his negative talk around his unbelievably good athletic achievements.
Mrs. East a trumpet is not a bad midlife crisis 😂. I am sure that it will enrich Mr. East and bring out more of who he genuinely is. He speaks better about himself and I feel his passion.
It was too funny how he even ignored Mrs. East's oboe comment. He rarely does that. He usually catches himself and sensitively acknowledges you. This reinforces my belief that Mrs. East needs to back this.
Worst case if I am wrong, you would have to endure a short time of a fading hobby. Best case he seriously gets into it and develops himself further. Playing music brings joy to the musician and shares that joy with the audience. There is no downside now that he has already invested in the instrument if you have a soundproof room 😊❤.
It was so funny hearing you fight over pronouncing didgeridoo again 😂😂😂. Sorry Mr. East the replay definitely caught you out 🤣.
❤❤❤. Such a beautiful episode. Thank you for sharing.

Embouchure is the word you're looking for Andrew. I played trumpet as well, and although I never had braces, several of my classmates had the same experience as you. Whether they had been playing with or without braces it changed their embouchure.

Andrew’s dad was a precious human and I feel like they all are. It wouldn’t matter if he doesn’t wear cologne and smells terrible. Haha. He takes his role of husband/father so serious. Shawn is great too. What a beautiful family❤️.

Have a lot of relatives in Fort Wayne IN. and went to Mammoth Cave one year on our trip home after a visit. It was WAY back in summer of 95' when my girls were only 7 and 18 months old. Such a great experience and memory. The day before in Louisville, we just happened to find this "hip seat" contraption that strapped on across the chest and around the waist so, we bought it to carry our little one in the cave, man that thing was a life saver. Haven't seen one like it since.

Your dating story is beautiful! I think most families have a certain expectation of who they want their people to marry, it’s important to have a special relationship with your in laws -to have a solid relationship with your spouse, I feel sorry for families that struggle with Mother-in-law problems. I loved my in laws from day one and I felt immediately they loved me we’ve been married 40 years and I’m thankful we still have them🥰

I don't mean to be mean but do they always have to talk about their kids. My friend has two kids and she is so good at talking to me and not mentioning them.

lol why can’t they always talk about their kids?????
Kinda ignorant and weird to be mad and irritated about parents talking about their kids a lot.
I bet you would question why they aren’t talking about their kids if it’s too little for you.

Shawn, this is a total theory, I am also drawing for my childhood. There is something about the end of year and finding out that the teacher that I was SO attached to, was going to set me free to a new teacher. It felt like an educational break up. ❤️‍🩹🥹 I think it makes kids want to reconnect with the true stability in their lives. The fount of love….Mama!
