@@MiniatureHobbyist Cool, I just made my first spruecrons, (I was really wanting to get some cheap necrons for just fun, and so that hunger manifested in me making some flayed ones) I did find that if I use ways of detailing I learned from when I use to whittle it made it far easier. 😅 anyway if there's anyway I can help please let me know and please have a wonderful day.

I agree, Scratch Bashing did wonderful terrain, but the bunker aspect got lost along the way. It looks more like a raised platform for a large gun emplacement. Now if his bunker was an entrance to say a mountain base or something, then it would work really well. But the point was to make a standalone bunker.
I genuinely have the utmost respect for people that can create like this. I don't even play tabletop games. I might like to someday, but not anytime soon due to financial situation, but you have inspired me to be more creative in the hobbies and interests I do currently pursue. You're awesome!
Honestly, as a beginner to making custom building and stuff from scratch, I can say it's VERY intimidating. You gotta know what you wanna accomplish. A week ago or so I brought out the sprue from a warhammer set I got for Christmas last year and a bunch of bits, popsicle sticks, paper, cardstock, cardboard, toothpicks, just junk taht otherwise would take been overlooked. I sat there for a good 20 minutes just staring before I had a perfect idea. A junk barricade. I used the Ghoul from the fallout board game (not Wasteland Warfare) for scale, and all in all it turned out pretty good. Basically just know what general idea you wanna do before getting materials, that way you can know what you, should need for the project.
I love this build it's so Orkey complete with the door on the outside but no door on the inside. It's hilarious it's funny and I love it I would definitely see orks building a room that they couldn't get into or get out of.
This is freakin' rad. I love Scratch Bashing's too, but as an Ork player, I've gotta give this one to ya. The creativity and experimentation here makes my inner Mek so very, very happy.
Looks great, although, I would defo would of chucked a wash over it. Just helps to tie everything together and give it a more unified look, in my opinion. 👍🏻
Awesome build I may have to try this but I think I’d go a step further and resin seal it add magnets to the roof because it’s a wicked design for a custom dice box.
Great build! I love this. And great collab, scratchbashing is my favorite. Check out graphix medium weight chipboard that Wyloch made famous on youtube. A layer under the foam board will give you a lot of stability. You could also use it in place of the wood banister too. Great material.
I liked the way you measured and then drew a line on your straight edge to make it easy to match the measurement again. "Plastered by an Ork"? Don't you mean plastered by a grot mob?
Arguably that is real wood plank flooring. 😂 Great build with lots of cool ideas. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm definitely going to steel some of this.
Nice one, excellent build. EVA foam tips: On the walls instead of cutting the four sections, cut out one piece, then, cut a V groove vertically (where the join would be) into the back of the foam halfway through the thickness of the foam. Add contact adhesive, or super glue on something this small and then fold the two pieces together for a seamless 90'external edge. Cut a smaller V for less of a severe angle. Keep your blades sharp as the foam will dull the edge quickly and then drag through the foam tearing it instead of slicing through it easily. Wear a respirator as contact adhesive is bad for you and definitely wear one when setting fire to the foam. 👍🏻
Thank you, great tips as well. My blade is very dull lol but my new ones are all boxed up with the rest of my stuff, should be moving into my flat in the next week so can get all the good stuff out lol. Doubt I will use the contact adhesive again due to smell and time it takes to dry =)
I stumbled upon this first and then followed the link to Scratch Bashing. Overall they are both great builds and both were entertaining to watch. While you are the better designer, he has a better painter, IMHO. Either way, I'm now subscribed to both of you and will be following.
i have to say, if ever I had the opportunity to play against your orks, I'd be in for a treat due to all the ork terrain. love what your doing, and cheers from Canada.
dem ork loves spikey bits, give'em some! I think you really have this orky vibe right, this bunker is really cool and feels so right in his context plus, with your instructions it is quite simple to build some for other factions great job as usual ^^
Thank you so much, I do feel like I have the mind of an ork, when it comes to building something just bash it together and stick some tacky tape on it and job done =)
Contact adhesive is better suited for costume making, rather than little jobs like that. But it's one of those "use in a WELL ventilated area" product. With dioramas or terrain pieces, if bits fall off you can just glue them back together with super glue. With contact cement, it's for things you want to remain stuck together forever.
Well Mr Hobbiest, I thought that was fabulous! You both have very different styles and have your own minds eye of the universes you play in, and I love that, for me though, you won this challenge hands down Sir, Indeed 👍

This is an epic bunker. I love it. 😁 Keep on being awesome. I'm new to the hobby and have just started painting my first miniatures, so I have a long way to go. But I hope to be able to make awesome stuff like this one day.
as a cosplayer who uses foam and contact adhesive I would definitely advise not to use contact adhesive or any other smelly glues indoors as you WILL make yourself sick, sometimes a bathroom extractor fan can be useful for removing the fumes but depending on how close you are to what you are working on it may not be strong enough. a respirator is a really good idea too when doing lots of contact adhesive gluing
I definitely recommend using Mega Construx sets for builds. Idk if they still make them but as a collector I can say that the turrets from the Halo killteam sets are REALLY good for scale. Construx weapons in general are good. I noticed you used a flame thrower from an old set here too, which is a prime example lol. All in all I just recommend going on their website and looking into weapons, parts, figures, and pretty much everything, cuz they're good quality. I'm just too sentimental to use my Construx parts on wargame terrain.

EVA foam emits toxic fumes when heated. Unless you're wearing a respirator in a well ventilated room I wouldn't recommend lighting it on fire.

for those who bought the silicone he used in this video you can simplify the ratio to 20:1 in order to make the math easier
Missed an opportunity of putting a door on the interior of the bunker that said "Little Ork's Room" since sometimes the toilet is called "The Can"
7:25 when a little bug friend comes to visit
Awesome 👍

What did you use on roof details? They look like professional parts. Not like the burning you did earlier in video?

Like the build, but it does hurt a little when you glue LEGO stuff together... as an old LEGO collector it just feels wrong :-)
Can you please do a Death Guard v Orks battle scene diorama with mortarion in it
Where do you get those valve wheels from?
It would have been from a Lego set, I think they use them as steering wheels lol =)
Do you have a video of your stuff set up for a game?
I've tried looking for the silicon you used in this video 12:44. Could you possible share a link to where someone in the states could get it
I will take a look but did try a few weeks ago and couldnt find any, it does seem strange for it not to be popular in the states.
I've done more digging, and it's only a UK store. But is this the stuff you used? www.easycomposites.co.uk/cs25-condensation-cure-rtv-silicone-rubber
What is that board called that you used for the base and roof and all that?
Its called foam sheets =)
I assume it's EVA foam, although "foam sheets" seems to work as a search term. :-)
I really don't think Orks take the time to paint things perfectly. So the less you care, the more Orkish it becomes!
Protip: If you had painted the bunker red, it would have gained 1 inch to movement!
