Solid advice. Back in December I set out to order a 22 BRZ. Local dealers were all heavy on markup and/or dealer add ons. I expanded my search to neighboring states and found a dealer 65 miles away that had a VERY responsive internet team. They assured me there would be zero markup & add ons and set up a date for me to come in to order the car and have them check out my trade in. I went in, ordered the car and we even agreed on a trade value for my car (which I would continue to drive) 3 months in advance of my BRZ arriving. I was nervous the whole thing would fall apart (despite having placed a deposit and signed a purchase agreement) but exactly 90 days from placing my order- the BRZ came in and the deal went as smoothly as possible. Everything was honored and I had the exact car I wanted. It's a hard time to buy a car right now but it's certainly not impossible.
I used to work for Hyundai and agree with you guys 💯%, except the advise to not take the extended warranty. Understanding the complexity and cost to replace the performance parts on my Veloster N, I opted for a $3,100 10yr 100k bumper to bumper extended warranty. I did pay it cash in order to save the finance charges. The warranty is nationwide with no deductible and covers OEM parts and labor. Las month I hit a huge bump that broke my the entire front right suspension and got all my money back, plus a free car rental for 10 days while my VN was getting fixed. Unless you're buying a base Camry, get an extended warranty, especially on a high performance vehicle you are planning on using daily and carving canyons on weekends
Doesn't that car come with a 5 year/60k mile bumper to bumper and 10 year/ 100k powertrain warranty already? That means you're paying over $3k for an additional 5 year/40k mile bumper to bumper?
@@ItsPaulby Exactly. The extended warranty also covered what Hyundai said was an "accident" and did not want to cover the front suspension because they said the damage was from the impact of something on the road and not normal use. I thought this was a stupid reason since I was just driving like normal on a paved road ,but whatever, the extended warranty covered it and i was glad I had it.
Had a dealership try to mark up N 15k 😂😂. I used your email template and spammed 10 dealerships in my area. I am happy to say I just put a deposit on cyber grey N with MSRP pricing. Thank you guys for sharing, it truly worked.
Former Insurance Adjuster I saw how things changing specially at the New Cars Dealers in the last 3 decades. Actually what you are telling here is nothing new but dealers do not speak about it. Because in the past decade or so this type of communication letter put the dealer administration on not so good position with the manufactured. This letters do work and it is an alternative for potential clients who wants to save his money. On the other hand those ridiculous mark up over the MSRP are cause of we the consumers could not purchase any sport car like the Ford Focus and some others models. It is important to mention here that I am impress with your knowledge on this matter at so young age. Congratulations great video.
For those who doesnt believe what these guys are saying a d that u cant get it for msrp. I just contacted 4-5 dealers around me (7.12.22) with the same letter and immediately got calls/ emails back from 4 dealers. 3 of them had cars coming by the end of this month and 5k mark up and one has car coming same date and did take my offer for msrp+tax and other fees. I put a deposit in and getting it by the end of month. Thank you guys for yr advice and keep the videos coming
Used car prices are the reason I've ordered an EN for exactly MSRP and the fact the car is only 2 months away from order...and the wild warranty helps.
The chip shortage is a very very real thing working in the car industry and seeing our lot dwindle from 150 cars plus to just 4 or 5 at a time on the lot it’s crazy. Great video I like the tips just take your time and look for the deal it’s worth waiting for the car you want just tougher because people are willing to pay. This car is awesome and I’m probably gonna get one.
It is but it isn't. The issue here is that the chips that the OE's need (and aren't able to get) are the ones on a SUPER old architecture, like 15 Nm. Chip foundries just don't want to retool to make a two decade old chip that makes no money, when they can make PC/phone chips (4-8 nm) that are far more profitable. Intel literally said they would make all the chips the OE's want but they have to get on a semi-modern architecture. TLDR, the OE's are just being cheap, the chips are there but they have to get on a chip architecture that isn't multiple decades old...
Or, have the dealers decided to keep their inventories minimal to avoid their finance charges and get a higher sales price because of the lack of vehicles on their lot?
@@theodoregibbons4615 I guarantee you the salesmen do not appreciate not having cars to sell, they only get paid on delivery, and having to tell customers that their car will only be there in X amount of months makes them lose what might otherwise be a sale. I myself have sold roughly 120 cars this year but only delivered 35 of them. I easily have over 40k $ of lost income that should be in my pocket but will instead be slowly coming over the next year or two. This is not a fun situation.
I can tell you the chip shortage is a real thing. At my work we used to buy digital control systems from a vast number of suppliers & now we are so desperate our purchasers are scrounging around places like eBay to find them.
Holy shit! You guys are local to me! The experience has been interesting and at times frustrating since a lot of Detroit-area dealers are doing markup. Victoria from Hyundai Lansing is selling at MSRP in Michigan so please go to her if you're looking for a reliable, fair dealer. OTD price that includes 2k in taxes and 1k in delivery was right under 35k with add-ons. Haven't gotten the car yet but it's ordered and I have a purchase agreement in hand from them.
I've been watching YAA (now CarEdge) for a while. Then I got into the market for an EN and here y'all are talking about them! I was meant to buy this car lol
Excellent video and very true. Never done this with a new car, but I have with used cars at a dealer. Basically emailed and said I will buy the used car for X amount out the door and will come get it today if you will sell it for that amount. (Pending test drive and inspection of course)
Just bought a BMW 230i for MSRP. Dealerships know that they will only get allocations if people place orders and put money down and wait for months to get it. You can still get a deal if you do things right.
Super helpful video! I know this method is sound when trying to finance a new car, but how would you go about negotiating a lease or getting the dealer to lower lease terms? Thank you guys!
Awesome video thanks guys. I’ve been on the YAA website prior to seeing this video but didn’t use the advice. Now I’m getting the spam from the dealership smh. I think I’ll spam them with the letter now thx! Question though. Did you pay the dreaded doc fee that dealers try to charge? Thx!
I have bought--as in outright--everycar since I was 25--now in my 40s--many of my cars on my channel.I have always paid below MSRP except for my last car which is my Kona N which i paid sticker for.But my last 2 cars--a 2020 stinger GT and a Mazda CX-30 Turbo--I got more on both of them then I paid for--made almost 10k on my stinger and was able to trade my cx-30 in on the Kona and paid 1k for the kona N--I paid 32k for the mazda and got rt at 36k for it as a trade.
Bought a used Veloster n, sold it 3 months later for more money and traded it in for a Kona N. The dealer had a 5k markup but they wanted the Veloster n and waived the markup.
Exactly what I did with my Camry trd, called up 2 dealers, said I want to order a trd for msrp, make it happen, I paid msrp with some options added, seems like factory ordering dealers are more likely to sell for msrp
The buyers market for a GR86 is much greater than for an Elantra N. I will be really surprised if you can get it for MSRP. Looking forward to seeing what happens.
Tons of people are getting it for MSRP and below though. Again, it just takes work and dealerships are trying as hard as they can to make the climate "seem" like it's impossible. Our buddy Geoff just got his GR86 (I'm sure there will be videos on this) so it's definitely possible.
Wish I had seen this video a little sooner than I did. I just bought an automatic cyber grey Elantra N a couple of days ago and paid the market adjustment fee. The only way to get one was to buy one that's in transit. Have never driven one or seen one in person so I hope it is as awesome as it looks like in all the UA-cam videos I have watched. Lol I sure am looking forward to June 9th when it arrives.
Good to know. Just curious if you financed it or leased and planned on buying it out. Brother went to look at one and was trading in his 2021 truck and they were giving him 52k for it. The lease would have been 619 a month or something absurd.
This was a great informative video. Thank you so much. I’m thinking that I’ll save $10,000 and put that down on a DCT N, as well as use your approach. Keep the N videos coming please !
Yes make the video on buying a gr86, I went to my local dealership to check one out, they were charging a $5,000 markup price on it and they said $10,000 markup on tundras
Problem with the prompt is that Hyundai doesn’t do factory orders. Ask if the dealer allocation includes an Elantra N that meets X,Y,Z specs and whether or not that car is serialized or not and if they have an ETA. ANy Hyundai dealer that says they factory order is lying
Just curious do you think it help that you wanted the top level trim package for the elantra or do you think it should work for buying any brand new vehicle ? Please and thank you
Solidarity! These stealerships are out of line. The car-scalping Honda dealership tried to sell me a Civic SI for 35k! They told me it was an "exclusive " car. I told them they needed an "exclusive" buyer, then. I looked around and got an Elantra N for MSRP, just under the 35k Honda tried to sell the Civic SI for. Hah! It works out if we don't go for the BS. These people are banking on buyers having no sense or self-control. I took my time and ended up with a car that was better than I hoped for (Civic SI or Golf GTI). The idea of ordering a new vehicle sounds like a good way to go, too. That just takes planning and self-control - no falling in love with a car and jumping at it.
Great video guys! I am extremely curious, I have a questions about driver seat space. I’m 6ft 5, and am all but sold on this car, and want the DCT, looking to buy in October when I get back to the states. Do you think I would fit well in the car? I think compared to the vehicles I want, this is the best sport sedan option. What are your thoughts? I know I’m going to sit in one myself before I attempt to buy, but I’m trying to gauge owner thoughts on driver room.
I'm 5'11" and with a helmet on, I don't come anywhere close to touching the ceiling of the car. I think that this car is great for a person as tall as yourself. It is definitely better than most.
Hey man where I'm at the msrp plus the paint protector BS is the best I can find besides going very far to get MSRP but I'm still saving up thank god i have some time to still learn and find a good dealer lol
I bought corolla special edition for 22k on september of 2020. Trade the corolla to bmw last month for brand new m340i. Im so surprised they bought the corolla for 28k. I put 30k miles for the 2 years of owning it, curb rash the wheels badly, front bumper is barely hanging. Tein suspension and afe intake. I expected the corolla value will be really low cause of the miles I put on it, the mods, damaged bumper and wheels. They probably gonna get 30k plus on the corolla if I kept it stock and kept it clean. But yeah the used market is just crazy.
Was in a dealer over the weekend, not only did they not want to sell an Elantra N for msrp, they also tried offering me about $3-4k less than the market value of my trade in. How's that for a dealer who's slogan is "No Bull". lol
ANother tip: DO Not finance your state tax and licensing if you have a choice, or any more than you have too. Some states the dealerships try collect it commonly to raise your loan amount, though the state leaves it optional. Be clear on your states guidelines before hand. I live in Omaha, Bought an 18 Elantra Sport in DesMoines Iowa 2020, and the dealership tried to tell me that they needed to collect tax right then, I said no you dont, I dont live in Iowa. After insisting he was wrong he finally "ask someone else". Afterward called one of the Council Bluffs Dealers who sell to Omahans regularly and they said that's BS. Finance officer mentions what they claimed was a theft tracker that they swore was on all their cars, didnt mention a charge for it, made it sound free as I signed a simple acknowledgement . This is a common scam, real or not, COMPLETE BS. WALK AWAY if the finance officer refuses to delete this BULL SHLIT. In my case he told me about it, never mentioned a charge, and then snuck a 900$ fee for it onto the bottom portion of the final price contract beneath empty lines of scrolling periods of NA equipment I didnt even notice until I drove the car home and opened the envelope with the contract copy in it a day later. Had some other trouble with my paperwork getting sent to me at the time. After 4 weeks of not getting a call back from the sales manager I demanded the operator to talk to the GM. I was a bit hot about everything, but he nicely refunded my 900 as well as promised to have my shit in the mail the next day.
Thank you for the video! If you really want to own it. Pay up, why don’t you send these emails to your other companies, Walmart, target, Apple, Samsung. Asking for this BS? Wait till the market drops or don’t be wasting peoples times.
Are you insane? Are you suggesting we should let dealers get away with markups for any BS reason they can come up with when they already make thousands of dollars on the sales because "if you really want it" That's literally the reason they do it is because it works and people pay the extra for absolutely no reason, if everyone handled their buying the way they reference in the video selling at MSRP would be the norm because dealerships would know they can't get away with literally fucking people. Whose time did they waste? People sitting at desks whose entire job is to make these sales and have these communications?
Some say never pay more than MSRP. If you shop out of state, then you should consider each state's doc fee and etc. Used car market is absolutely crazy. More and more dealers will mark up over new cars to prevent buyers from selling it for profits. Though 5-7k mark up on that car is common, you did pretty good job if you could walk out with the car for less than 2k mark up imo. You could factory order for MSRP but I happen to see a lot of dealers sell those reserved orders to other buyers who would pay more. Yes, it sucks to pay more than MSRP but a couple thousands is not so much if you really want the car right away.
I’ve asked probably hundreds of dealers if they’ll sell for MSRP. None will. I put an allocation for one for msrp and their website says my new black DCT N will be in at the end of the month. I’ll believe it when I see it.
i wonder why the prices in the states are so crazy....here in Ont Canada////i would say you can by almost any car at MSRP i was able to factory order my Elantra N...for 650 bucks below MSRP,,no add ons...in fact they thru in tire and rim protection for 3 years.
@@davidbarlow372 because you have a much more responsive government to the people than we do. Here everything is bought and paid for by corporations through lobbying.
Did you have to pay anything to have it delivered or did you use a local dealership? If you were unable to drive to dealership would it be reasonable for the dealership to charge for delivery?
Went to get one near MSRP, but when I went through finance my trade-in (vehicle KBB trade-in value was higher than my loan) they came back saying it would be $948/ month! WTF!!!!!
The 10 year 100k warranty is a factory warranty from Hyundai on new vehicles an not a dealer extended warranty right? Sorry for sounding dumb but just wanna make sure I'm not somehow negotiating that out of my deal.
I found a guy in Syracuse NY who also won't sell above MSRP, but the dealership refuses to sell to out of state residents 😡 What the fuck?! All the stealerships in CA are garbage, charging over 7k on top of MSRP. This terrible dealership experience has REALLY killed the best parts of Hyundai. They make great cars, but their dealers are worthless I really don't want a Tesla or Camry hybrid, or VW SUV...😐
Did you also get gap insurance for your car? Curious. And when you say extras and accessories, what does that mean? (Example, I heard if you put more than 20% down, you dont really need gap insurance, which is like 850 added to the cost of the car. Im planning on putting about 10k down, so that being said, is gap a waste in that regard?)
i cant make up my mind between the N and gr86. i love the exterior of the gr86 but i love the interior of the N. I am thinking of getting a car soon between one them
@@pattyboi just hard to believe. But I mean if they truly are then that’s flat out amazing. Too many people want this car for the little they have on the lots. Could be dealers that don’t know what the truly have also 😂🤷🏼♂️. Guy that sold me mine knew nothing about it other than it was a N model 😂
You imply the inventory shortage is not real, yet in your Hyundai delivery video, you clearly see a huge empty car lot. And you don't complain when even touch base on 30% increased trade in, but instead complain on paying msrp for a vehicle? Just bought a 22 for 33 on carvana with 2900 miles on it
What dealership did you go to I am also from Michigan
How's that for a dealer who's slogan is "No Bull". lol
I really wanna trade my 2022 SEL in and try to get an N. It blue books for more than I paid. Feels like a daunting task.
Thank you for the information.
I just wanted to know if the Permaplate is worth $1000 and what's the functionality of having it
How did you guys get the email addresses? I'm having a hard time even finding them on the Hyundai sites
Thank you so much guys 💯
Excellent video!!!!
Hi did you have to pay doc fee, and destination fee after MSRP ?
Do you think this process would work (with some modifications) when looking for a lease deal?
Could this work if you decide to lease this car cause still debating if I want to buy it or lease it?
You guys didn't mention the destination charge. Did you pay for that or is it negotiable????
This is included in the MSRP.
Everything is negotiable except tax
Thank you for the video! If you really want to own it. Pay up, why don’t you send these emails to your other companies, Walmart, target, Apple, Samsung. Asking for this BS? Wait till the market drops or don’t be wasting peoples times.
Are you insane? Are you suggesting we should let dealers get away with markups for any BS reason they can come up with when they already make thousands of dollars on the sales because "if you really want it"
That's literally the reason they do it is because it works and people pay the extra for absolutely no reason, if everyone handled their buying the way they reference in the video selling at MSRP would be the norm because dealerships would know they can't get away with literally fucking people.
Whose time did they waste? People sitting at desks whose entire job is to make these sales and have these communications?
what's if i have a trade in and how will i include that in the email? great video guys, im planning on getting one in a couple of months
Wonder if this would work with a 2023 Honda Type-R?...
@@davidbarlow372 because it's illegal in Canada to charge over MSRP
@@3030hp must be nice if only USA did the same
Did you have to pay anything to have it delivered or did you use a local dealership? If you were unable to drive to dealership would it be reasonable for the dealership to charge for delivery?
Yeah because depending where the car you purchased is from they will charge you a delivery fee
I called two dealers and got it reserved on my 2nd call for msrp idk I'm probably just lucky lol
where do I find model #? i could get VIN of the cars that are arriving to particular dealers.
Great video!
Im also looking go buy a new car atm, possibly the elantran.....thanks for the prompt. Hope the spamming works
Yes, it’s from Hyundai same with 3 years of service
Thank you 🙏🏻
Got my car 3k less than MSRP in Canada
Does the demanding a car for MSRP work if i don’t have good credit?
Something you don't mention is SECURE DEPOSIT dealers are asking for it because demand.
A floor plan is what the dealer owes on the cars on their lot.
the dealership i got my 2018 elantra at keeps calling to offer me $17,200 for it but they wont have a single N on the lot for another 7 months :/
I found a guy in Syracuse NY who also won't sell above MSRP, but the dealership refuses to sell to out of state residents 😡
What the fuck?! All the stealerships in CA are garbage, charging over 7k on top of MSRP.
This terrible dealership experience has REALLY killed the best parts of Hyundai. They make great cars, but their dealers are worthless
I really don't want a Tesla or Camry hybrid, or VW SUV...😐
Is it even possible to LEASE a performance car for MSRP?
Just use your broker. They’ll get it at MSRP. Mine did.
hey guys how can i find a model number?
Did you also get gap insurance for your car? Curious. And when you say extras and accessories, what does that mean? (Example, I heard if you put more than 20% down, you dont really need gap insurance, which is like 850 added to the cost of the car. Im planning on putting about 10k down, so that being said, is gap a waste in that regard?)
Yeah unless the car just tanks in value for some reason the gap just covers the difference between what it’s worth and what you owe if it’s totaled
i cant make up my mind between the N and gr86. i love the exterior of the gr86 but i love the interior of the N. I am thinking of getting a car soon between one them
Support rear wheel drive, manual transmission cars or we'll lose them forever! GR86 all the way.
whatd you end up getting?
Just say no to dealer markups
I used this copy and paste message and was just told by one dealership that they cannot factory order vehicles. Is that true?
I just put a deposit on one and you cant order one. You can only do a reservation allocation.
What’s the model number
just got a manual 2023 one in cyber grey for 33k
Nobody is gonna buy one at msrp. It’s just way to good of a car and rare 🤷🏼♂️ plan to pay more for this car. Look at the type r 🤷🏼♂️
My brother bought it for MSRP. Multiple people have messaged us saying they have as well. Just gotta put in the work to get it at a good price
This unfortunately doesn’t work for Toyota, or Honda, or VW.
So it ends up not including some of the most desirable enthusiasts cars out rn.
I live in Cali so with taxes I’d probably pay 40k lol
I went today they want 45 k out door
what part of cali?
Hopefully a few months from now I'll be back to say the prompt worked again xD
It's a sin to pay MSRP no matter what.
You can't even factory order this car. Banks are closed.
You imply the inventory shortage is not real, yet in your Hyundai delivery video, you clearly see a huge empty car lot.
And you don't complain when even touch base on 30% increased trade in, but instead complain on paying msrp for a vehicle? "It's insane"
Not sure if you guys understand the concept of an elevated market that enables this.
I understand you guys have to appease those that are dull to economics but as a channel that people rely on, your bias is really outstanding.
The chip shortage isn't what they make it out to be? Lol 😂 ignorance is bliss I guess.
its not messed up its called " supply & demand" dont say ydk & mislead viewers. its still a free market & we're plagued by "chip shortage" & supply manipulation than valued goods now become precious. & its not " hundie" its called hyundai pronounce [hyun-day] u guys clowns go drive a fiat quit driving my countries cars
lol ok boomer
They didn’t buy a car for Msrp stop believing these guys lol he got kicked out from like all the dealerships until he payed
........what possible benefit would we have to lie. Don't be dumb, it's absolutely possible to buy for MSRP.
So you want market adjustment for your trade-in? Hahahaha.. hypocrites
We literally never mentioned trade-ins for this video
@@pattyboi selling your car on the private market gets you what? You are expecting market adjustment for your current car?
