LIKE 22 👍 Thank you for such an interesting trip and great content. Just fabulous "The Abyss" places and views 🔆☀⭐ Have a wonderful weekend, my friend 🎊
Exploring "The Abyss" in Nanaimo must have been such an intriguing adventure! It's fascinating how nature creates these unique formations. I love the way you captured the essence of the place in your video. The trail, the crack, and the trees all combine to create a truly mesmerizing experience. Thanks for sharing this memorable journey! 🌲🏞🌿
It wasn't the deepest or scariest cleft in the ground, but it was pretty fascinating at the same time, and combined with the beautiful scenery, we couldn't have asked for a better day.
Hello "Down the Wrabbit Hole"! Thank you for showing us such a wonderful video! I feel so happy! I'm looking forward to your next work! Have a nice day!
That is one ominous crack in the ground! Good the dog was saved that fell in. Is a wonderful area to explore 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀.
Wow this is a fun little attraction. Imagine hiking there in the dark and not seeing this abyss! You guys seemed fearless and hike all around it. Great video guide for first time visitors.
I haven't been as active on UA-cam lately, and I think maybe because of that my notifications aren't working properly. So thank you for meandering over to my channel to watch this! I appreciate it! :)
Such a lovely forest and great views on the way to the Abyss. So amazing and a little scarry to see that large crack in the earth. I love exploring places like this. You did a pretty good job on the trail in sandals. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.
Yes, sandals were definitely the wrong choice. It wasn't like the hike was extremely difficult, I just wasn't expecting that terrain. So I hope this video can help someone else! LOL
Those trees were so awesome! They start with normal bark, dry, peel red, then peel orange, then peel to their lime-green inner trunk, then bark over again, and the whole process repeats. Really cool!
That is so cool! That would definitely be something that I would go and see. Pretty amazing what mother nature can do. Glad that they were able to rescue the little dog that fell down into it. And you had more of an adventure with the path that you chose to take to see it. 👍😊
The abyss sounds very scary wow, always time for extra adventure without the trail, definitely keeps you on your toes more :) definitely a good work out getting up there! Great job making it up there! Its quite a wide crack, glad the dog was ok x
The name was way more intimidating than the actual crack in the ground, but we still had a fun time exploring the Abyss and making our way to and from. I always love a hike with something interesting like that thrown in! Thanks so much for watching! :)
What a great adventure y’all had in the Vancouver island tour. The hard way sometimes bring you the best result. Glad you arrived in abyss safely and the kids are enjoying it there. Thanks for showing us your wondrous travel. Done ✅ and subscribed to your channel ❤
Welcome to my channel! Wonderful to have you here! Sorry it took me a while to respond - it has been busy with back-to-school madness but finally things are settling into a groove. I'm so happy that you enjoyed the video!
Hi there Marti, great little adventure there making it even better making your own route the steep way, like you say only a crack in the ground but like you would want to check it out, have a nice day cheers nigel
I confess I was expecting something a little more ominous and scarier, but in the end we were happy with what we discovered. The kids really thought it was cool! :) Thanks so much for watching!
Excellent views. Good directional advice! Thta is a beautiful trail. Does look very steep. I thought the abyss would be a little deeper by its name. Those trees are really beautiful. Looks like a cool adventure.
@@DowntheWrabbitHole Near where I grew up there was a large rock formation that has like a bowl dent shape and two what look like chains extending outwards in a V shape. Locals say this where the devil was cast out of heaven and forced to drag a boulder across the land. Its not that big but its like the abyss in that its worth seeing in person.
@@TheOfficialRemiMoore That DOES sound super cool! I love local tales like that - my grandparents were super Catholic and I grew up listening to all those stories, so they do fascinate me.
Yes, the path was quite uneven. Even if we'd taken the proper route up the hill using the right trail, the top part of the trail right near the abyss was difficult. Definitely not for strollers or wheelchairs sadly.
I will be pumping them out when September hits, I promise! My escape room business was slow all summer, but in the last two weeks everyone decided they wanted to book in before school began, and I've been so busy running games (which is a good thing!). Once the kids are back in school, things will slow down for me and I'll be able to get back to editing videos! Thanks so much for the awesome encouragement! :)
I'm still not done my Nanaimo series; there really is a ton to do there. Life got so busy with back-to-school season I haven't really had time to sit down and do a bunch of video editing. Soon, hopefully! :)
Ha ha, THANK YOU for letting people know the correct way to access it! I hope no one follows our route! 😂 I’m lucky I didn’t break an ankle! I appreciate the intel.
This was a coal mining town. Nanimo was where the labour movement started in BC. There was a very bad strike in the first part of the last century. One man at least was killed. We named a section of the inland hwy after him. Ginger Goodwyn Way. Also this town at one point had the most bars per capita in the entire country. There are Four bars from that time still open downtown. All from the 1800's. As well , it seems that we hane the last section of rail that is still in use one the island. It runs right on the outskirts of downtown. If you are on the sidewalk you have to stop and let the train go by. LOL.
Such cool facts! I’m assuming the abyss is a result of the underground mines then, shifting the earth. You know a lot about the area - are you local to Nanaimo? 😃
I can imagine the Irish hearing about the big crack in British Columbia and being disappointed... Okay, there were a lot of crack jokes flying around in my head and I went with the safest one.

Oh man, that would really suck to fall down it in the dark! It isn't huge but you could easily get quite wedged in there. Thanks so much for watching!
Interesting and fun outdoor family day exploring the abyss.
Great your kids found it fascinating.
Cool tree bark.
It was a really fun experience! Those trees are so neat, I love how the bark evolves and changes. Thanks so much for watching! :)

Not as freaky as I was expecting with a name like the abyss but still a pretty interesting thing to see. Glad they got that dog out!
That would have been scary for that little pup!
Thanks for sharing. Looks like some trails I’ve been on. Hope you and your family are having a good week. Full View and Like 👍
Well, our trail would have been a lot easier if we didn't just blindly trust Google's GPS. LOL But it was a fun adventure anyway! ;)
Hmm the abyss.. cool name 🙂 looks like a fun hike! Ohh it's a crack on the earth.. don't fall in there! Cool looking tree too!

It was really cool! I could have done without the sketchy 'shortcut' trail we found but it was all fun in the end. ;)

cool adventure on that trail some of it looked mighty tricky

If we had gone on the PROPER trail, it might not have been so bad. LOL Trust me to get us lost in the middle of the woods.
Small crack, but still kinda scary! I wouldn't want to fall down that!
Definitely not! You could get wedged in pretty good!
