To hide the groom’s lav completely, I mic them up the same way I do a bride: under all of their layers. I use a Tascam DR-10L as well. I use the Ursa mini stickers and put one on the most inside layer of clothing that’s touching their skin. The mic doesn’t rub and the audio turns out really nicely! I’m pretty sure I watched your video on how to mic a bride and so I took that and now do the same thing with the groom.
So you put it between his skin and his shirt ? I put it on the inside of the jacket with a Ursa mini sticker but I do have some rubbing noises and not the greatest sound. I might try your way next time.
Hi, I've hired 3 boom ops to run during the ceremony. They're pretty discreet 26 ft poles, so they can stand in the second row and still get within 2 ft of the audio source. Do you think it's okay to have one of them on each member of the couple, and one on the audience for reactions? Or should I have all 3 at the front with the officiant and couple? Thank you Matt for all that you do. Taylor
Putting the micro inside the shirt is a risk of the shirt rustling in the micro. An alternative I often use is to put it in the collar of the shirt. I also always put the mic facing downwards, since they're omnidirectional it doesn't make much difference, this prevents the groom from blowing into the mic when he's talking.
Matt, why are you not hiding the grooms lav completely? Personally, that would drive me INSANE. Seems relatively straightforward to stick it on his skin underneath his shirt, or to stick it on the inside of the jacket with the right anti-rubbing covers?
I never have trouble with just my Tascam on the Groom only captures officiant and bride clearly. I just started putting a back up on officiant due to some PA systems come through crappy but it works perfect
I only mic the groom. I use voice isolation in davinci resolve and it works like magic. Even if the there is wind noise. I just ask the bride to talk a bit louder
Always love your stuff Matt! ❤

You need one boom mic and operator for every member of the wedding party in case someone says something important
@@whoismatt Okay I'll see who is available to help. Thank you!
Remember you have to have backups of everything so that would make 2 boom operators for every member of the wedding party.
@@brunopatino2135oh true! Okay noted

Hi Matt! Thanks for the tips ! Sometimes, if it is windy, I hide the microphone in the tie, and the sound is great!
Don't forget to look into white lavalier mics.
I’m here only to appreciate the “Workshop on booking your 1st wedding”. So helpful. Thank you very much Matt🤝

Why do I always get fabric sounds and more when I try to hide the lav on my self. I use the Rode LavGo. Is that mic too cheap?
I should know this sooner.
Hey Matt, what dead cat is that?

Ok, I don’t feel alone! I’m short too. How tall are you, Matt?
