I stumbled across your video when I was getting this error and got a replacement cleaning head module (iRobot had them cheaper than Amazon in Jan 2024). Replacement was super easy but it was still nice to have a visual of which screws to mess with and someone to cheer me on haha.
This video was very informative great job. Error 26 is not only for your filter but for your the ventilation/suction this video showed how simple it was to take the bottom panel off. My vacuum kept throwing error 26 so I cleaned the filter and emptied the bin, then took of the panel on the bottom. Doing this reversed the root cause of the problem. The was a bunch of debris and dog hair built up around the filter sensor which is directly behind the filter. I cleaned this out and used a air compressor with pray nozzle and got rid of all the dust and hair build up on all the internals. That fixed the problem. Be sure to reset maintenance life times on app after replacing maintenance consumables; rollers, filter, brushes. Once again great video.
I just had a problem with my i4 and I took the cleaning head in which I cleaned it thoroughly with compressed air and q-tips with alcohol on the electronic components… Re-installed and tried again but still didn’t fix the issue… Noticed that the “vacuum sound” didn’t happen when it was supposed to start working… So…. I took it back apart and then took a look at the snail shell type of vacuum motor and it was not spinning freely. I proceeded to take the vacuum shell apart and clean inside of it and then used a couple drops of WD40-“spray & stay” gel lubricant on the chrome plated center post that goes through the motor and the fan head, along with a gentle bit of compressed air to blow it through to the bottom of the motor to lubricate it all the way through. Reassemble and tested… SUCCESS!!! when the command for the vacuum to start encounters the motor not wanting to spin, it throws the error 26 and times out so it doesn’t just burn up the motor on the vacuum… I’ve had my i4 for over 3 years and besides replacing consumable parts or it getting stuck under a chair once in a while this is one of the only issues I have had with it… Hope this helps others! Thanks for the input, ideas, and insight
I'm glad to hear that. Why didn't take it back? I feel they cost to much not to take them back. I'm happy to hear you got it working that's all that matters. I run mine like two times a day I love a clean floor.
Helpful video. Still scratching my head if $126 is worth pouring into my i3. I think it’s an unfair price to pay, when I’ve taken decent care of it and haven’t had it more than 2 years. I might just manually mop and chuck the thing.
Thank you for the comment. I'm glad you didn't need to buy a new module that sucks to spend extra money on a part that is suppose to work in the first place.
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately I tried everything. I cleaned and replaced everything before I made this video and the only thing that work was changing the cleaning module. A few people told me they did the same and the only thing that worked for them was to change the cleaning module. My rollers was dirty because I put the old ones back in after the brand new ones didn't fix the error. Trust I tried everything and watched like 20 videos. This was the only thing that worked.
Hi!, I have replaced the rubber brush, the filter and rebooted it . The error 26 is still persisting. The module head seems normal without any breaks. What could be the cause of the persisting error.
So looks like I need to buy a new module. I also need to replace the bin, since the small screw I lost it while I took it apart to clean it and went to Lowes and they don't have anything smaller for the Bin. You know the Automatic Dirt Disposal, where the green cover is at? I put the smallest screw they had and I took this thing apart and cleaned it, and I too had it for less than a year! So frustrated that I need to purchase a new module! But thank you for this video!
@@TreyTheTechman it's been a year since you've charged the cleaning head module, does it still works? I'm thinking if I should replace mine or not, if I'm only gonna get a year out of it.
@@TreyTheTechman they are and they were great about it. That is my luck if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. I do UA-cam videos and thought about doing a video but where they are coming good for it I don't want to give bad reviews they are making things write.
Hi John, thanks for the comment. We did end up changing the filter as well but didn't record that part. I agree with you, I recommend checking and changing the filter first since it is cheaper. Unfortunately for us, we had to replace the head module as well. Do you still have your iRobot? We are looking for a better option because we haven't been completely satisfied with irobot.
@@TreyTheTechman I have that same black+decker driver, and it's actually fine for this, if you turn the very handy torque setting down to like a 2. 9 is too much for most machine screws.
Why didn’t you just replace the rollers and clean the roller unit I think it was a waste of money buying a whole new roller unit a bit of a clean would have solved the problem
Thanks for the comment, it definitely helps us grow when we hear the truth. What would you have done differently? Any knowledge will help! The only way to grow is by seeing what you may be lacking, I look forward to your response.
Man, you’re tough. A nice man takes the time to make a video on this process and he gets nothing but your disdain? I’m sure there are some nice photos somewhere and nobod6 is forcing you to watch any videos, Sheesh - try being a kinder human sometime.

Had this error straight from the box. I gave up and kicked it and now it's working. 🤷♀️

My right ear really enjoyed this.
Hi Arkus, Thank you for the comment.
Brother you do do things right you help people!!! thank you so much🙏🤩
Thank you Shimon,
I really appreciate your comment. Your awesome!!!!
I fixed my error 26 by taking a shopvac to the filter, which cleans any clog/dust between the slits of the filter. Good luck

Best video for this problem. I help me to fix my problem! Than you.
My right ear appreciates this! :)
I've had mines for less then a week and it's already giving me this error
Hi Yadiel, do you have a warranty?
Mine did the same thing the connection is loose do what he did but don’t buy a new one just clean it and the connections
I didn’t but the module but I did remove everything and clean it realllll good! Thank you!

Great video. Changing out the cleaning head worked for me. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. Thankfully ours is under warranty so the part is free.
Hey Tom, I wish mine was under warranty. It sucks when warranties expire. Thank you so much for your comment.
Could you send me the link to the part you orderedor around how much does it cost? Mine is the i3 but it's exact same problem
Hey J-man, the link is in the description. The link will take you to amazon. I believe the part is about 80 dollar's.
Not me at 6:16 waiting for that red error again. 😆
We bought one from a site the company that supplied it gone bust so how am I supposed to get warranty
Hi MCM, not sure about this one. Did you call them?
Lmao this video is a vibe my mans out here making me laugh while my shits broken lol

Helpful, thanks!

Armida, thank you for the comment. Yes, that sucks to r replace the module. And less than a year is even worse let me know how it goes.
I have the same roomba and it keeps giving me an error 99
6mo old unit and now i have this error. Expensive vacuum to be having these issues early on. 😡
Hi Neil, I agree 100 percent. I was mad when mine started making this error. I was like it haven't even been a full year yet.
Update: contacted Roomba, they are replacing the part for free
Update: received the cleaning head module in mail. Installed part, it’s now fixed! Thx
Is the new module head lasting any longer?
Yes, it does.
@@TreyTheTechman Thank You For The Reply Back. I Appreciate It.
Replaced cleaning head module. Vacuumed ONCE; giving me the same error again.
Did you ever fix it? I replaced mine too but the problem is still present, even after rebooting the Roomba.
Was yours under warranty? Did iRobot send you the replacement module for free?
No, my warranty had expired. So I had to pay for this one out of pocket.

Yes, that was the first thing I did.

It sucks to have to do all that to get it to work.

You got longer than I did first day and getting error 26 code.
Hi Trevor, wow first day..... no 👎 👎 👎 they need to give you a free one and a full refund hahaha.

If you had it least then a year it was still under warranty and the irobot them would have send you a free cleaning module.
Thanks for the info but so annoying
Hi Steve, Thank you for the comment.

Yeah, If they are machine screws then they really should be screwed using a screwdriver 😅
Hi Tom, I agree I was press for time and didn't feel like look for my screw driver. Thank you for the comment.

Why didn’t you just replace the rollers and clean the roller unit I think it was a waste of money buying a whole new roller unit a bit of a clean would have solved the problem
