Hey Matt while I'm very knowledgeable with video gear, music instruments, eq, etc... I am not very knowledgeable in the film audio department. I need to buy a mic for the company I'm working for, and I was thinking of getting the tascam dr10l since everyone recommends it, but should I be concerned that I can't monitor audio? I need something for moving subjects and for speakers who don't want a boom pole in their face. But I've never used a lav mic before and the idea of not monitoring to see if the audio is catching shirt noise, kind of worries me. Should I buy this mic for my needs and is monitoring something I should be concerned about?
Yes she does! I was thinking this especially around 8:55!

Hey Matt! Wondering how often you use manual focus? I know the Sony has pretty good auto focus so curious how often you utilize it.
Hi Matt, great video, thanks. I recently purchased and used the Tascam DR-10L, it records at two different levels which is nice, I found it fast and good quality for certain things like this, I still use my wireless mics for the ceremony etc.
+Daniel Mrw thanks Daniel! I'm a big fan of the dr-10l's. I have 2 :)
Thanks for this, Matt. I wanted to do the reading letters part too but I’ve never done that before, so a little nervous on that part. Any suggestions ?
TOAST! great tip lol cant wait for part 3!
+YoungHils VLOG thank you! 😁👍
Matt you are my favourite UA-camr.
+IrishMotorcycleVlog haha thank you!!! 😁
Matt WhoisMatt Johnson also look at you! No monopod needed! Pffft. Godammit Matt
..... And i stoooooole it..! 😂😂😂
Great video as always :D I can see that you love 50mm so I can't recommend enough the Mitakon 50 0.05, you just have to try it. The Sigma is sharp and so perfect but the Mitakon... it is art.
+Simeon Kolev thanks Simeon! I’ll have to check it out
Awesome Video!! What picture profile did you use??
I love your videos Matt! Such talent and you both really understand how to use natural lighting and contrast.
May i ask you what's the LUT you use for both your making of and actual footage?. Thanks a lot.
+Juan Sanchez M. Thanks Juan! 😁 I really like the luts from IWLTBAP.
man i want one of those prisms
i noticed that you filmed 1080 and 4k... when you edit you upscale the 1080?
I see you use a lot the zoom h5 but you recommend the tascam DR 40x. Why is that? What would you recommend better?
Matt Johnson is my spirit animal.
Another great vid! Do you ever film shots of the wedding rings?
Rarely. :)
You see, I love useful content, that is why I subscribed now. Most channels these days start growing with good content then they start falling by useless annoying vlogs.
Sooooooo.... Could you do an audio mixing tutorial like you've hinted at before...? That would be incredible! Been loving this series of videos btw!
Hey Nick! I promise I haven't forgotten to make this! It will happen eventually!
Sir matt. How did you set up your h5 with wireless?
great stuff! I dont do film but i love your videos that you post. i wish you had a little more of the book in the frame as he was reading. if you had any reason why you chose not to show it? just want to know what was going thought in your head as you were planning shots.
just my view. great shots!
How do you do the close up quickly while also being at a wide angle? Is it specific to that camera? Or is it something most can do?
Hey Matt, amazing content as usual. I've watched all your other videos, but for this particular scene, what kind of picture profile are you using? I'm new to Sony's coming from Nikon, and your footage looks amazing right here. So i'm wondering do you shoot in one of the log formats for these kind of scenes, or are you shooting with one of the more standard profiles? Cheers!
+Ethan Dengate thanks so much Ethan! This is the picture profile I use for everything including this: ua-cam.com/video/-APqhJLhPfE/v-deo.html
ur man nice and thank you 😀😀😀 helpful video
