Finally, another Buffyverse vid! I've been working on this for a while now, and I'm really glad it's done!

No angel and Cordy. I love Love them as friends because Angel never had any friends on Buffy and that always bugs me he should have friends in Cordelia became one of his best friends and I loved that but I really hated that they did the same old tired formula the best friends become lovers it really exhaust me that formula which is why I love the one tree hill so much Haley and Lucas never became love interest. Did this bug anyone else I loved them as best friends they had such a great storyline there and I really think they could’ve gone somewhere as like true partners

See, for me I think the reason I was so onboard for them as a couple was *because* they had such an amazing foundation of best friendship :) True, in general it's a pretty common trope to have friends become lovers, but I'd argue it's not one we saw all that much in the Buffyverse specifically... if Buffy had gone the route of Buffy and Xander getting together, or even Xander and Willow, then it might feel a bit much to have the same kind of dynamic play out on Angel, but especially when one of the more iconic Spike moments was his monologue about how Buffy and Angel, the grand love story of the Buffyverse, could never be friends, it felt so refreshing to me to see Angel and Cordy's relationship be such a healthy counterpoint to that.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have had a problem had they stayed purely platonic best friends either - that would have been beautiful too! But to me the progression of their feelings for each other into romantic ones felt very natural and I loved it.
If anything, where I think they dropped the ball in later season 3 was going too far on making Cordy uncharacteristically oblivious for a long time. Not even taking account the mess of s4, I think if they really needed to not have them have that talk, they still could have spent more showing Cordy working *through* her feelings and fears about it all, rather than her being so oblivious. Because she was the only one of the LA crew who was there in real time for Buffy season 2; it would absolutely be fair if she was realizing her feelings but also scared by them knowing what could happen if he were to ever lose his soul again! So they could have had her grappling with all of that, even if it was just on her end and then they still never got to actually meet up. But yeah, up until that point I thought it was all so lovely between them, and I wanted so badly to see them get a chance at being together 💔
