This whole things gets pretty complex, since Yellowbrow's ideals of enlightenment serves as an antithesis to Jinchanzi and also most buddhism themes/lore (not sure how to word this). The 3rd chapter is about detachment and how the need for validation can prevent one from reaching their potentials. and all the characters in this chapter are a twisted alternate version lingshan (false Lingshan), where they hide their manipulative and self-serving motives by putting on a front of justice.

Floverse PLEASE GIVE NON-ABLE SPIRIT A TRY! He is one of the best spirits in the game and the demo clip does NOT do him justice. He does a different strike (double roundhouse, palm strike, jump slam) depending on when you activate him during your light combo. He has great stagger, decent damage, and recharges in about 2 light combos. He is my go to spirit HE IS SO GOOD!

He came here to investigate yellowbrow with 4 captains, after being suspicious that he was up to no good. His 4 captains were brutally killed, for following his orders. One went insane, one had his arms torn off and re-attached with some frankenstein mash of other limbs. One had his head exploded, one had eyeballs grow all over his body if I recall- To survive the torture of the chants that decrease your health in the prison- The third prince blinded and deafened himself, and spent years praying for help from his master...who never came. Not even knowing, if his master heard his prayers, and blaming himself for the death of his four captains. Its quite the tragic story.
Additionally: To make it worse, despite the conflict with his family- he originally sought out his master to learn how to deal with Yaoguais. His family was cursed into rats because they worshipped the yellow wind sage (the rat boss from chapter 2) more than the Buddha, and even made rat worship a law. Bro the Non-Able spirit is legit you should try it out. You can mix it into combos and he does different moves depending on the combo. It also recharges super fast.
You can turn into a fox again by using the brush anywhere anytime (except for fights), after that go to a temple where there is a white monk dude with cactus looking moustache and confront him out. After completing that quest, Transformation lasts waaaaay longer duration so you can be yin Tiger longer.
Most fights are characters testing you in wukongs name. The point of the game is that wukong could only set himself free from the golden headband by having a mortal death and reincarnating into you, the destined one. Erlang (intro boss fight with 3rd eye) and wukong planed his own death. A lot of bosses are apart of the plan and are there to test you.
Umbral Abyss became my favorite and go-to transformation. Even after I got Azure Dome I can’t use anything else. If you transform with full focus you can immediately use his ability where his wings come out, does mad frost damage, imbues your attacks with frost and adds ranged hits to them, and enhances your dodge. If you do it right you can freeze most enemies and just straight melt them with light attacks. If you haven’t really tried it I would HIGHLY recommend it.
@c0wboys4life u have to talk to a horse(ma tianba I think his name?), u must talk to him in every chapter, and on chapter 5 u will fight him and after that u can go to a place that gives his transformation and it does an insane thunder damage, but be careful it is missable
I think you missed the “FuBan” boss in Chapter 2 - you only get to fight him after you collect all the Buddha eyes and activate a rock with them. And then entered also Mad Tiger in Chapter 2
The fuban and the buddha eyes are two different side quests in chapter 2. The buddha eyes quests lets you fight that multiple face rock monster and for the fuban quest you gotta follow that drunk pig questline and enter an past timeline and battle the beetle
I wonder what will ever make Floverse read the explanations, messages and lore that games have, instead of asking stupid questions every time. Don't you wander why people know about hidden bosses, lore and mechanics in-game without reading the Journey to the West or being pro completionists, its because they READ descriptions.
