AWESOME EFFORT and huge CONGRATS!! 💪🏿🏅🏃🏿♂💪🏿 Me too, love Anna from the Running Channel... she totally captured my heart and admiration when she did a marathon in her tiny little backyard during Covid ... made me cry, what a woman!!!!
We are nearly there Bev! It’s really good to see the support I’ve received this year on this channel. Yeah the run was such a great experience and a lot of learning was done. The sleeves are here to stay 😂😂😂
Brilliant run Aubrey! Disappointed that I didn't see you out there on the day, I was running Oxford Half for my third time and absolutely loved it. Cambridge Half in March is another good one to take a look at, similar great vibe to Oxford and the energy from the crowds in the last couple of miles through the city centre is incredible!
Now that you’ve made the recommendation, I will try to make sure that we sync up next time and run it together! I’m so excited about 2024 for the half marathons but more importantly meeting so many people across the 10Ks and half marathons. Cambridge seems to be a popular recommendation
Congrats on a new PB Aubrey. Like you, I've been targetting the half marathon. I just ran my first official half marathon race this weekend, the Detroit International Half Marathon, that crosses from Detroit, Michigan, USA over the bridge border to my hometown of Windsor, Ontario Canada, and back to Detroit. I went in with a 1:45 goal, mind you, having only run 1:49 in training. I ran 1:39:48. Power of RACE DAY!!! What I will say is just like you I need to lose weight to hit the times I want, which is sub 1:30 in , and I'm 44 years old. I was focused on losing weight earlier in this training block, but realized that I couldn't lose weight AND get the training sessions I needed to max my PR. You gotta fuel that training. Don't worry too much about the weight. Long-term yes, but short-term it's about putting in the training with purpose and strength, in my opinion. Like you I also love to lift, so we'll probably never be as light up top as some runners, but we got that diesel which has its own benefits. As long as we put in the right work we'll hit our targets. Good luck and thanks for the content.
It not just the power of training… it’s YOU! Well done on that. The half marathon distance is so hard when you’re new to it. But then again so is the 5K until you master the 10K and then hopefully the 10k will seem easier when my mind and body learn to run the half.
Only your 2nd half….and you crushed your PB……AMAZING, massive well done, that’s epic 👍 I agree with the Runna guy - 1:45 is achievable. I may be biased but Cardiff Half is incredible, beautiful fast route, great vibes and great support all the way round! Would love to see you there 👍
I’m on it, also seems like a good reason to get into an air bnb and just enjoy the day in Cardiff before running the following day. Thanks for the support too! Hopefully we will get the times even quicker but the bigger goal is to enjoy it
Congrats Aubrey!! I've been here since the start of your journey and you can see the improvement already! Really really inspiring to see you put in the work and spread so much love, knowledge, encouragement and positivity. Here are some half marathons that I've loved: - The Big Half - Hackney Half (great atmosphere!) Some I've heard people love: - Paris Semi - Copenhagen - Berlin Half - Manchester Half If you're keen to go out to the USA: - Brooklyn Half Marathon - Peach Tree Road Race (Atlanta) Keep it up man xx cheering you on! I've done 3 half maras and also eye-ing some more this upcoming year :)
Thank you so much for being there and keeping up with my channel and journey. The support has been amazing. Definitely getting a lot these recommendations for the local ones but also thanks for the international ones. Any excuse to hop on a plane I’m in!
What's up Aubrey. Subscriber from the US here. I signed up for Runna Premium back in March. Did a 5k in April and made a goal to run my first half marathon by the end of the year! Never really ran before this year as I am a heavy runner and you are one of the reasons I picked up the Invincible 3 as my daily trainer. On October 15th I finished my first ever half marathon at the Long Beach Half Marathon in 2:21:49! So this Aubrey x Runna collab is awesome. Keep going Aubrey and keep inspiring!
I love this! Yeah I am excited about it too because I genuinely think I get a lot of people out running and enjoying with structure and a plan to follow. Thank you so much for the kind words and of course a massive congratulations for the half marathon.
Nicely done! This was also my second Half and the vibe was fantastic. I grew up near Oxford, so it was nice to go back home and see everything in a different light. You absolutely smashed this and can't wait to see what you can do with a dedicated training block. My first half, I did in March (Hastings - quite hilly!) and got 2:02:33. At Oxford, I managed to go faster than I expected (1:44:59). I also consider myself an average runner just trying to improve. I believe you can get 1:45 💪🏻
Ooohhhh you scraped that sub-1.45. I love that. Yeah thank you so much, I think the running it will take will be the best one done and I’m excited about that. I’m so excited about this training block.
@@AubreyRunning I couldn't believe it when I realised I had snuck under 1.45! Nice! Keep that excitement. Goals are great but the main thing is enjoyment and excitement (in my opinion!).
Thank you so much Josh… that’s very kind of you. Oh for sure… let me know via IG what races you intend on doing if you’re in the UK and I’ll for sure arrange it
Copenhagen Half & Berlin Half Both very fast and very impressive atmosphere 🎉 Going for PB in 2024! Current 1:45 -> goal 1:30/35 So same goal! You’ll make it for sure 👍
My first half marathon was in 2016 and all of my training or furthest distance was 10k 😅all on the treadmill. After hitting that 7 mile mark I told myself it’s all me from there on. Surprisingly I didn’t stop and finished 1hr54mins. Just glad I finished.
That’s amazing! I found that the latter miles are not as hard as I expected them to be, it’s just the forever feeling of the whole run compared to the 10K. I need to work on my nutrition and hopefully all will workout just fine
Excellent work Aubrey, huge well done on an amazing time!! :) I'm really pleased you loved the atmosphere of Oxford, it's my home town and I was one of the volunteers on the day (water at the end just after the medal) and I've got to say, even by our standards, it seemed to be really well attended and huge support for you all. Am absolutely gutted I didn't know Anna was there tho, I absolutely adore her and would love to have said hello. I've now subscribed for more content from you! :) If you like trail running then I can't recommend the Beachy Head half marathon enough (Eastbourne) It's on this weekend (Sun) and sign ups for next year will go on sale soon. It's a beautiful course and the medal is normally lovely and you get a pasty at the end! :) It's one of my faves (I'm heading down tomorrow ready for Sun). Also, i've not done it myself but have heard great things about Loch Ness Marathon if you want to venture to a further distance ;)
I’ve just looked up the beach head event and doubt I would want to do the half marathon so soon there because it’s tarting the training block but I’m certainly eying up the 10K! That sounds so exciting! Please message me on Instagram on AUBREY.running and I’ll message back with confirmation and it will be great to meet you.
That’s very kind of you, thank you so much for that. Yeah it was a hard slug to be honest and it will only get better with training and getting the nutrition under control.
Hey Aubrey congrats great run 👏👏 Bath Half in march and Cardiff in October are must do’s. I’ve run them both several times and will be doing them again next year. Hope to see you there!!?
Will certainly check these out. Annoyingly, bath half was on the same day as the Oxford one. They should look to fix that coz that’s a big loss for those that would want to do both
@@AubreyRunning Right! I live in Oxford so can't really say no to the Oxford Half... but I'd love to do the Bath Half too if they put it on a different day 😭
I’ve entered 6 races for next year - 3 x 10km & 3 x 1/2 Marathon - all in Central London - the halfs are London Landmarks, The Big Half and Royal Parks. I’m also using the Runna training plan and having just run 1:45:15 in Amsterdam am aiming to go sub 1:45 next time out. I should perhaps add that unlike you I am 70 years old and have been running for around 40 years. I have an all-time PB of 76:25 for the 1/2 Marathon and would be more than happy to pace you to that sub 1:45 time.
You’ve genuinely made my day (even though it’s only 4:54am). I will gladly take you up in that offer. That’s an amazing time especially in your age category. That’s simply impressive and super human and people dream of such fitness. I will look at these recommendations and if possible synchronise with you to possibly meet and run one together
@@AubreyRunning - So I’ve almost done my 1 week recovery post race and have set up in Runna a 10 week maintenance plan which nicely leads into a 12 week 1/2 Marathon plan culminating in the London Landmarks 1/2 Marathon on 7th April where my A target is 1:43:25 (77% AGR) and by B target is 1:44:46 (76% AGR). I have the London Winter Run 10km on 25th February (end of week 6) which will provide a good indicator of how the training is going (47:31 would give me 76% AGR - this is actually 8 seconds slower than I ran at London 10,000 this year where I finished 1st in my age category M70-74).
Great video Aubrey. I’ve only done a couple of 10k’s this year, but aiming for the following HM’s in 2024. Royal Parks, Great North run & Big half. But I have recently found out about the Super Half series, which seems very tempting
Congrats on the PB Aubrey! I’ve done a few Half Marathons this year, so I’ve got a few recommendations lol. London Landmarks, Copenhagen Half, Cardiff Half and Royal Parks. Out of all of them I’d say London Landmarks is a must!
Love this! I’m definitely looking into those, I’ve heard of those before for sure. Sadly most of those get booked up very quickly but I’ll do what I can. The only 10Ks I’m running are the ones I’ve done this year to try and beat their times otherwise, it’s half marathons all year
@@AubreyRunning completely agree. As much as I would love to do one, one day, the thought of doing the distance again was really daunting and puts into perspective how inspiring anyone who runs a marathon is.
Your time is fantastic, I did Chelmsford half marathon on the same sunny, crisp morning, my first half too and managed 1:52:47 after training with runna, you’ll smash 1:45 💪🏽
I am actually proud of it but was hoping to do faster but was held back a little bit. We will get on this mission and achieve the goal. More importantly… enjoy it!
@@AubreyRunning bang on! Don’t worry too much about pacing, just let your body do the work and relax, enjoy it, take it in, don’t let the numbers take over, because no matter the time, it’s a big achievement!
If you don't mind travelling, come to the Toronto Waterfront Marathon Weekend! I just did my first half marathon there and it was beautiful! Mostly by the water! Was going for sub 2hrs and finished in 1hr46 so I'm very stoked! 1hr40 is my next goal. Loving your channel keep it up captain!
I’ve literally never been across the pond to the states nor Canada. But if there is a reason to, surely this new passion of mine has to be it! I will look into and hopeful squeeze a few international ones in. Just sometimes these can be costly due to travel and accommodation but I will most certainly look into it.
Thanks for the encouragement and we will certainly have to put the training in. It’s all about extending the endurance because all I’ve been doing to date is for the 10K distance.
It would be amazing to do them all because I’ve heard those are great. What I hate is that my legs are not yet accustomed to such long distance at a strong effort so I turn into a zombie afterwards
@@AubreyRunning I do mate, I run at least 1 half-marathon a month either just to keep the mileage in the legs or I do an official event. I've got a remembrance half on the 11th November then in December I'm doing a 31 mile Ultra marathon and that's the last event of 2023 for me, I've got plenty lined up for 2024 already haha Have a look at an event you fancy doing next year then let me know and I'll come run it with you 👌🏻
Aubrey, come along to the Farnborough Winter Half on 21 January 2024, it can be your first of the year. It'll be my first one ever! would be great to see you. Keep up the good work mate and congrats on the PB, that's a strong benchmark.
Good job Aubrey!!! One of your last vids as “ average runner”……the half is my fav distance even though I’ve run a lot of 5 and 10 k’s.Keep grinding brother…kinda hard to stop at this point anyways🏃🏿♂️👊🏽👊🏽
Congrats on the PB! To get a PB with stomach issues is amazing. Great video too. I was waiting for you to mention how the shoes felt throughout the race. What were your thoughts on the shoes?
I have a specific review on them and a comparison against the earlier version so that would be a great recommendation for you to watch. In summary though… it’s my go to shoe at the pace I run
@@AubreyRunning I'm subscribed to your channel and I've already watched your review video. I was just wondering how they felt during the race as you were pushing for an awesome time and how they felt as you started to fatigue towards the end of the race.
The two I would recommend is the great north run ( biggest in the world ) and the Freckleton half ( the countries oldest half marathon ) but that’s in the summer Very well done , progress 👍. 1:45 or bust 👊
Aubrey you are a fighter bro!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!! This is amazing!!! My first two HM was 2:02, third 1:58, fourth 1:52, fifth 1:41! Remember me! You will not be presenting your self as an average runner 😂! I'm soo happy for you!!!
@@AubreyRunning off course there is! I'm trying for the 1:30 mark (1:39 actually 😛). Keep posting all of these lovely videos!!! I'm a huge fan! Great reviews!!!
That’s a lot of gels etc. for a half marathon. I’d take a look at that for future efforts as you shouldn’t really need anything more than say 1 after the first 20mins (if at all). Less is definitely more for half-marathons or less. Your body will thank you for it as it can concentrate on running rather than having to digest a load of carbs at the same time. Well done on the PB - this time next year you’ll be sub 1:45 I reckon.
I’m totally new at this distance and still finding my way n terms of what works for me. As I go into training for it I will certainly take on what day and try it out during the long runs
The Big Half is certainly the event to attend, its fab day. Looking for something earlier, Hackney Half is well attended and a good weekend of activities!
This might clash with another event I’m eyeing up but will definitely check it out because the views you described sound amazing to not only experience but to also film
Congratulations! As you have released, work on the nutrition. This is not a real topic for a 10k, but it comes into play for the HM. Make tests in your training and find the most suitable product and strategy for you. Personally I like Maurten products. No stomach issues.
Absolutely agreed, and I think you make a great point that 10K isn’t long enough to present real issues. I normally stick to a routine which I didn’t this time because of the timing. I will definitely give it all go as I start my training
You have done the Oxford half marathon. Why not run the Cambridge half marathon in March 2024. Congratulations on your new half marathon PB. Just think how much quicker you would have been had you not needed to make a pit stop.
I’ve had the Cambridge recommendation several times and it seems like a must run! I love Cambridge for what it is and the history and architecture so this would be a special one to run for sure. Cheers for the support and yes… no tummy issues next time.
The Cambridge Half Marathon is a quicker course as is the Cambridge Town and gown which I ran this last Sunday. So a PB would be more on the cards. I hope you will give the half marathon a go in March.@@AubreyRunning

Love this! I’m definitely looking into those, I’ve heard of those before for sure. Sadly most of those get booked up very quickly but I’ll do what I can. The only 10Ks I’m running are the ones I’ve done this year to try and beat their times otherwise, it’s half marathons all year
Congrats on the PB Aubrey, I did my first Half Marathon yesterday and got the sub 2 Hours I wished for. Was a great feeling crossing the line!
Well done my man… half marathons aren’t easy. I genuinely don’t know how people do full marathons. Well done on the sub-2 hours
@@AubreyRunning completely agree. As much as I would love to do one, one day, the thought of doing the distance again was really daunting and puts into perspective how inspiring anyone who runs a marathon is.
Well done ! Great video 😊
Thank you so much! 😊
@@AubreyRunning yeah even for me who only lives 5hrs away, it’s an expensive weekend! Haha
All the best!
Amazing video!
Thank you so much! It was an amazing run and I loved it!
Congrats Aubrey! 🙂
Thank you so much, 😊
Yes 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 amazing!! Well done.. no doubt you will be getting 1:45 next year 👍
Thanks for the encouragement and we will certainly have to put the training in. It’s all about extending the endurance because all I’ve been doing to date is for the 10K distance.
London Landmarks Half, The Big Half, Great North Run, Royal
Parks Half of Lisbon Half, Valencia Half. Will fill up the year nicely.
It would be amazing to do them all because I’ve heard those are great. What I hate is that my legs are not yet accustomed to such long distance at a strong effort so I turn into a zombie afterwards
Whoop whoop 🎉 Well done mate proper chuffed for ya 🥳🍻
We are about to step things up my man! Are you ever in half marathons? If yes, let’s get on it for 2024
@@AubreyRunning I do mate, I run at least 1 half-marathon a month either just to keep the mileage in the legs or I do an official event. I've got a remembrance half on the 11th November then in December I'm doing a 31 mile Ultra marathon and that's the last event of 2023 for me, I've got plenty lined up for 2024 already haha Have a look at an event you fancy doing next year then let me know and I'll come run it with you 👌🏻
1:45! You can do it Aubrey!!
Let’s go!!!! I’ll definitely give it my all!
Just set your mindset to that 1:45 and everything else will fall into place💪
I need to see what this training plan will look like and what it will take! But as you know, I’m up for anything if it means being less average
Aubrey, come along to the Farnborough Winter Half on 21 January 2024, it can be your first of the year. It'll be my first one ever! would be great to see you. Keep up the good work mate and congrats on the PB, that's a strong benchmark.
I’m chatting with the gang at Runna to see what they are aligned with so I can join those races but I’m certainly doing the farnborough one too
Brilliant! See you then 😀
Good job Aubrey!!! One of your last vids as “ average runner”……the half is my fav distance even though I’ve run a lot of 5 and 10 k’s.Keep grinding brother…kinda hard to stop at this point anyways🏃🏿♂️👊🏽👊🏽
There was a lot of progress made but sadly got injured in the progress so it feels like back to square one
@@malik630 I wasn’t as fatigued as I thought I would be, I had serious stomach issues and pain at the end and the shoes were great.
Congrats on a massive pb Aubrey 👏
Thank you so much, sets us up for an exciting and challenging 2024
well done champ.
Thank you boss! Much appreciated as always
The two I would recommend is the great north run ( biggest in the world ) and the Freckleton half ( the countries oldest half marathon ) but that’s in the summer Very well done , progress 👍. 1:45 or bust 👊
Oh man, they all sound epic and for sure a few to add to the bucket list. I’ll take you up on one of them
+1 for the Great North Run here! I ran it for the first time this year and had the time of my life!
Let’s keep going. I think there is so much improvement to be made for us both!
@@AubreyRunning off course there is! I'm trying for the 1:30 mark (1:39 actually 😛). Keep posting all of these lovely videos!!! I'm a huge fan! Great reviews!!!
Ealing Half Marathon has one of the best atmospheres in London.
I actually hadn’t heard of this one. Will have to look this one up! I’m all in
That’s a lot of gels etc. for a half marathon.
Both of those are on my radar but always get fully booked up! I’ll look into it
Looking forward to the build up!
That’s the fun bit, the training is going well
Brighton Half in Feb
I’m doing the 10k next month so will have to get onto this one as well. I’m not too far from Brighton so it makes sense. I’m on it
Conway half marathon by run Wales 17th November 2024. Iconic epic run and a challenge around the Great Orme with views of Puffin Island.
This might clash with another event I’m eyeing up but will definitely check it out because the views you described sound amazing to not only experience but to also film
Come over to Farnborough Half to start the year off
Congrats on the PB too!
Hi Aubrey, which brand is that shoe pod
Stryd Next Gen
Bro spring Edinburgh half is the one, has nothing to do with me running my first half
I believe you, lol, that’s definitely on the radar and may do it for Cancer Research
Cambridge half the best ever run Hooe to c u there bro
I’m definitely going to look at this! Sounds like an amazing one! It’s highly talked about too
Detroit Free Press Half Marathon
It’s crazy but I’ve never been to the states before and I would love to visit one day and what better reason to.
Oh man Aubrey! You know not to mess with nutrition! That ain’t new! 😂😉
I learned a very strong lesson! One that I will try to not learn again 😂😂😂
@AubreyRunning Said every runner. 😂
Antrim Coast Half Marathon is arguably the fastest in Europe
Is this in Ireland? Will check it out… how is it for views?
Yea it's in Northern Ireland! Hopefully you'll have the new On marathon shoes in early 2024!
Ben Parkes ran Antrim in 2021

WHY DID YOU HAVE TO INVOLVE POLITICS TO YOUR VIDEO?! its disapointing you did that, i think its unnecessary and you just lost a loyal fan🤕
Genuinely, I respect your opinion, and anyone else for that matter. I appreciate your support and respect your decision to not stay on, genuinely do! All good sir
