    Both Procter & Gamble and Lever Brothers (now Unilever) fought for the hearts and minds of American consumers back then.

    I had a book that was written by Jerry Mathers and he said in one section that his family had a dog that saved their lives one night when a fire broke out and his barking woke them up and they got out of their house in time.

    I don't know that The Lucy Show was based on a book.

    • @gcfifthgear
      @gcfifthgear 2 роки тому

      Very loosely. "Life Without George" was indeed about two single women--but both were divorcees in Irene Kampen's book. The agreement CBS made to purchase the rights to "I Love Lucy" forbade Lucille Ball to continue her "Lucy Ricardo" character from the earlier shows. Changing the character's name to "Carmichael" didn't work--BUT--since Lucille Ball had just divorced Desi Arnaz, Lucy Carmichael was rewritten to become a widow...thus making Vivian Vance (as Vivian Bagley) the first divorced woman on a TV show.
