Thanks for the review, I'm looking around for shredder vacs myself to clear around my driveway and garage and Stihl seems to be a pretty reputable supplier and one of my best bets around the top of my price range
How does the bag/pipes go with holding dust/debris, also the quality of the bag material? I borrowed my mums cheap $50 blower vac and my tshirt was covered in dust/particles after I used it, no matter how much I tightened/secured the bag, so I'm probably going to have to spend a couple hundred on a much better system. It would be handy for a quick clean of the garage in particular if I find one that doesn't leak much or whatever.

Hello many thanks for watching and commenting. The bag does release a certain amount of dust which is usual that they are perforated in that way to allow airflow otherwise they will just fill up to the point that they would eventually burst. The tubes are fairly secure especially the straight blower tube and the curved tube that feeds into the bag. The long suction tube that fixes to the front does work loose occasionally.

@@WildernessTamed ah fair enough, I see now regarding the bag. I do like how the bag goes right up and over a large part of the tube, so larger particles won't really escape (wasn't much room to play with on mum's el cheapo)
I have seen a few UA-camrs dust out their garages with leaf blowers and swear by it, so at least with the Stihl it has the versatility to perform as both a blower and a vac.
I could go out and get a household vacuum for the garage, but I'd imagine it'll regularly clog up what I pick up (grass clippings, leaves that fly in under the door etc), plus finding a well made one with decent suction power I'd imagine would be fairly expensive and not great bang for my buck only using it in the garage (don't want to ruin my housemates vacuum either)
So I guess I'd probably use something like this around a 50-50 split then (garage primarily blower, outdoors primarily shredder vac)
There seems to be a few reviews of both the SH56 and SH86 over the last 10 years too, so they seem to be reasonably reliable pieces.

@@redwhiteandblueblood Yes, they're well worth the investment. I've had mine almost ten years. I get it serviced at the start of Winter each year, so it's ready for Spring. Mainly use it as a shredder/vacuum, so the bladed fan needs replacing or sharpening as it looses its edge.

Is there a switch somewhere to make it blow to suck when using it on leaves.

James Brown hello Thank you for watching. You have to change the tubes around to use it as a blower. Remove the large straight tube from the front and exchange the bent tube that blows into the bag for a thin straight tube which is the blower.
