This is the AWESOME figwit doco that was on t.v in New Zealand.
Made in 2004 I think.
The documentary looks at the rise to celebrity status of NZ actor and musician Bret McKenzie, who appeared for 3 seconds as an extra in "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring", during the Council of Elrond scene. His brief appearance sparked a huge internet fan-base dedicated to his "brooding pout" and "elvish good looks". McKenzie has been dubbed "FIGWIT", an acronym of "Frodo is Great; Who is That!!?"

I never really noticed that guy till he showed up leading Arwen's horse....had no clue that he had such a following......strange
Same here. I noticed him at the Council, but back then it was all about Legolas for me :) Then I saw the Return of the King and noticed the camera zoomed in on this beautiful elf. Zooming in means "pay attention", and I wondered why I should know about this beautiful elf... took me a decade and a trip to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey before I caught on - a decade later! :D

Long time fan of Bret and Jemaine and Flight of the Conchords- finding this old gem in 2017 is so surreal :"D I guess memes were so new back then that someone decided to do a documentary? Fascinating......
I was so upset that I was the only one out of anyone I knew that was biting back screams of joy when Lindir appeared on screen in The Hobbit. The tiny part he had in RotK was not enough, I am so glad that they enlisted Brett again :)
Peter Jackson 'film enthusiast' ......I think he has a bit more of a role to do with the trilogy
