    Ayana:; I just finished watching your video. I can't make up my mind which I enjoyed the most. If it was the information you were giving or your beautiful face, smile and manner. This 73 year old grandmother is enjoying you. I'm just getting ready to try some ferns because my home doesn't lend well to house plants that need sunshine. So I have ordered some shade loving ferns to try. Thank you for your nice video. I will be back and hope to see you again! You're a beautiful young lady!

    Girl, let me tell you. I have NEVER had much luck with Ferns (Boston Fern, Button Fern) but then I re- watched your video. And I said, ok maybe it was the type of Fern so I will try one last time. Today I bought a Birds Nest Fern. Here’s to keeping hope alive 🤞🏽

      @@seaside9670 it’s still alive. At first most of the leaves died and I almost gave up. But I keep it on a pebble tray and make sure there’s always some water. New growth started. So it’s alive, not my favorite plant. Slow growing. But alive 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @RootingMindfully
      @RootingMindfully  3 роки тому

      Yes the maidenhair ferns are definitely thirsty plants lol I constantly have to check it to make sure I don't let it dry out too much. Which is why I put it in my bedroom so I can see it everyday when I wake up. I think my humidity is high because I have a lot of plants to be honest. I don't run my humidifier. I actually gave it to my mom. But keeping up on my watering, having a lot of plants and having them grouped together is what keeps it high.

    Is the aging on your terra-cotta pots completely natural? They look beautiful! I never used to like the color of terra-cotta pots, but once I discovered that they get this beautiful white on them as they age, I started loving them more and more. But the terra-cotta I have do not seem to be aging like that… Any advice? I have not had them long, not even a full year yet… How long does it take for that white stuff to build up on a pot?

    • @RootingMindfully
      @RootingMindfully  3 роки тому +2

      It is natural. It is just mineral deposits building up on the pot. It develops depending on what kind of water you use, the fertilizer and if you water your plants thoroughly. I'm not sure how long it took for mine. Maybe a couple weeks to a couple months.

    Foxtail and Ming are types of asparagus ferns--there are many varieties, but they aren't really ferns at all. Real ferns belong to the plant class Polypodiopsida, and reproduce by spores. Asparagus "ferns" are plants in the class Asparagaceae and produce seeds. Unlike real ferns that never flower, asparagus ferns produce small white or pinkish flowers in spring and after flowering, produce little green or red berries.

    Asparaguses are not ferns! They are called "ferns" because they look like ferns (not that much, imho), but they are not ferns. Ferns have absolutely different type of growth and propagate with spores, and asparagus flowers and gives seeds. Maybe in a care they are alike with ferns..., but ferns differ in care too.
    Showing asparagus in a video about ferns is like showing desert rose (adenium) in a video about roses.
    And personally for me - it's like showing a watermelon peperomia in a video about watermelon plants😜😂 I really don't like when poor asparagus is said to be a fern... Guess, it should be very upset with this situation in houseplant community🤔

      Yeah that’s why I mentioned in the video that they are not ferns. Thank you for the information though 🙂🙂🙂
