Thank you every one for the likes and subs! I just wanted to leave an update here on my undervolt progress. As of now I have undervolted the system by .05v and I have dropped the turbo boost short power max down to 175w. It is completely stable and my benchmark scores haven't changed at all, so absolutely no performance loss.
Really appreciate your effort in making this. Now I know how to calm my cpu down. Rarely find any info on this for Omen 30L. Just received my 30l yesterday, and yes, I can approve that it is more like a heater when putting stress on the gpu + cpu within the Omen case ( the gpu can burn you right after the stress test haha). I actually did a case transfer to cosair mesh case, get some fans and it cools down a lot. The custom motherboard Z490 in the Omen is quite weird to deal with. No usb c header on mobo so cant really use the usb c on the front i/o pannel on cosair 4000d. Hp sticks the fan bracket at the back of the mobo by unbreakable adhesive stuff lol. FYI, this custom HP RTX 3090 is, surprisingly, faster than other brands RTX 3090 in terms of 3D rendering and creative content. It beats all the benchmarks for rendering of normal rtx 3090 (but not the Founder Edition). I was so tempted to get the Lian Li cool mesh 2 but the case was quite big for the m-atx omen mobo, which might make me even more tempted to get a more expensive mobo so went for the Cosair instead :D.
@@jdwtv6530 I bet it looks cute in there. By the way, the boost clock speed of my Omen 30L RTX 3090 right out of the box is around 1980 MHz, which is noticeably higher than other after market cards (around 1750 Mhz). Do you also have that high boost clock speed? I wonder if HP really customed it to squeeze all the power out. My RTX reaches around 70C max at 1980 MHz, and obviously the performance is outstanding. And also the airflow at the top of the card is limited, it ends up blow air out at the side as well
@@doriflow_engine yea that is the same clock speed my 3090 hits now that I undervolted it. it used to max out at 1860. I think it was thermal throttling itself when I first got it. Even the 1860 is a good clock speed tho so I didn't think much of it but it definitely runs better now. I think I need to take it apart and replace the thermal paste and pads. A lot of people have had this same over heating issue iv had. I'm glad your card seems to be running appropriately.
@@jdwtv6530 It runs well, with no errors or thermal throttling but the temp is quite high I think. Would be ideal if it maintains around 60. Hope you will make a tutorial video on it soon, if it drops the temp down by 10, def give it a try. Thanks.
@@doriflow_engine I will start ordering the pads now. I watched your undervolting video for the GPU as well as this one. I'll working on benchmarking for both with each change, but what would you recommend to first start at for the GPU and CPU undervolting for 4k gaming? Would 1985Mhz at 975mV be a good area to start at? I assume .03V would be a good general area for the CPU? I have the same HP Omen 30L as you I believe; Intel i9 10850k with a 3090.
Would undervolting improve performance if you use this pc for music production??? If so I'm just going to set it to Intelligent mode. I have the Omen 15 2020 laptop
Thanks for your tutorial on undervolting cpus. It was very useful. I recently got my HP 30L with i9 10850k & gtx 3080. when i run the benchmark on omen gaming hub, i hear a weird sound from cpu is that normal ?
i dont know really much about hardware, I have a ryzen 5800x and I can change the voltage of the cpu, but idk how much i should lower my voltage down to.
So it is different for every one. You want to lower it one click and run a stress test to make sure the computer is stable. rinse and repeat until a crash happens. What ever value the crash happened at bump it up two and that is a good point.
i feel the same way as you. spent 1.4k on my omen and my cpu runs at 90 degrees celsius on most games so i have to buy a new heatsink since the stock cooler is ass. ill never buy an hp computer again.
I'm thinking about getting an OMEN rig but I have one question, if you do undervolt too far using the OMEN center and try to reboot will it just get stuck in a cycle? In other words, when exactly does the undervolting happen, does it happen when the program is launched, when windows launches, when the bios boots, etc and if it does get undervolted too far (using the OMEN OC suite specifically) what would you have to do (if anything) to fix it?
This is why you need to run stress tests after each undervolt. you want the lowest volt for when you are at full load. if you undervolt for the lowest voltage at idle yes you will have issues.
@@jdwtv6530 whenever you change the undervolt settings do you need to restart the computer or does it apply instantly? (sorry if this is a stupid question, first time undervolting)
