Clarification - Bert Berns signed Neil Diamond to BANG but it was Jeff Barry & Ellie Greenwich who produced those sides as well as sang on the sessions.
This video forgets to mention that Berns died on 30th December 1967, the eve of New Year's Eve! The day that Berns died was actually my Dad (Larry Wyse Snr.)'s 20th birthday.
Lets look deep and find a white man that maybe didn't get enough credit. Never mind the hundreds of black artist whom got that royalties taken and died poor and unknown despite their classic contributions to music and inspiration that followed.
Sure, but this guy wrote songs that were covered by The Isley Brothers, Solomon Burke, Sam Cook, etc. who certainly got noticed and paying gigs from recording and performing his music. He deserves credit due, as do others....if the writer interviewed wrote books about those performers would he be accused of cultural appropriation? Or be honored for cultural pollination that informed others of the contributions of Black performers...? Possibly you should write about those lost to history...I'm not disagreeing with you, but maybe adding some clarity to a valid subject your bring up.
