The most he’s said is “well, that’s just not for me” or “the price is too high for what you get”, which is completely understandable. Same here. I think you are correct, those vegan meat products are pretty new and are quite expensive because only a few companies make them. I like them well enough, but I try to avoid plant-based products masquerading as meat because of the cost, but I’ll splurge if we have a cookout or something. I still prefer to cook dishes that have always been meatless (I’m not a vegan), so I do make a lot of Indian food. I am lucky to have several Indian/Nepalese markets near me, but they don’t have the variety of convenience food like DancingBacons shows here. I’d love to try some.

@@brianlawlThey are referring to the meat substitutes, not fresh produce. In the US, there’s a decent demand for plant-based meat substitutes, plus they are relatively new, so their prices are really high. Same with plant-based cheese. I agree that there are far cheaper options as a vegetarian, like lentils and beans. But if you are going to a picnic or cookout, it is nice to bring plant based burgers or vegan hot dogs. It is nice to have convenience foods on occasion for those days when you are too tired to make a curry.

Plant based 'meats' here are insanely expensive. It's almost $10-$12 just for 4 links of sausage...where if you get the actual beef ones from Johnsonville you get 6 links of 'em for $4. But I do got to say, the plant based wonton wrappers, eggroll wrappers, and things like that are AMAZING! They are so tender when cooked for pot stickers, eggrolls, or dumplings. So tasty!
