It was the only reason I came here looking for videos. I couldn't figure out how he played that. Very cool. Little chromatic action way down low. What a cool riff. But hey it's f'n Billy Gibbons man. Coolest of the cool.
Hey thank you for the kind words! Yes I love that chromatic riff that they do in unison....it's so Billy G.... and it's so them. It's actually a riff that I used to use simply for practice. I would just play that one part for who knows how long until it got easy enough to move on to the next. Let me know if you have any problem picking it up...I could do a video on just little stuff like that. Long live BFG.... he literally is the coolest of the cool! Rock on! 🤘🏼🎸
@@StacyJamesGuitar Heck yeah do a video of BG tidbits. I bet it would be watched by many. I found the tabs for that riff it but wasn't sure where it starts. I think it starts on the G of the low E string, third fret. Then A string first fret, then back to G, chromatic down to E. Let me know how you do it. I agree it's a great practice exercise.

@txrooster61 thanks man - I'm using a Peavey JSX on the overdrive channel with 5150 cabinets. I also used a bit of Boss reverb on this one.

Could I ask what kind of amp you used, or is that part of your secret stash so nobody can copy you? I'm big on marshalls myself, and that ZZ top tone is the stuff for me. It falls right into that same midrange chunky crunch like early Jimmy Page tone. It's the stuff that evolves into that really bity high end scraping sound you find in late marshall era's like Van Halen's shrill brown sound, or Slash's similar alnico pro II humbuckers through the jcm 800 I know his was modded from Appetite
