- Long before we sold the restaurant, I toyed with the idea of perhaps finding something where I was able to work with animals, in my "retirement years". One of the things I did was to enroll in a program that put you hands on with some of the larger, exotic animals. This day is spent with a lioness, a bear and a tiger. I was there to see first hand the behavior of both the animals and the animal - trainer relationships, not just to pet and tiger and kiss a bear, although that was part of the training. Understand, this was before the stricter laws were put in place concerning these types of animals.
This encounter was incredible but it gave me not only a far greater respect for the animals themselves, but perhaps more so for the trainers and all that is involved when working with these magnificent animals. Like my ravens, people see things like this and think oh how I'd love to have, a lion, a tiger, or a bear, as a pet, but you need to understand these people are choosing to spend a good part of their life, taking an amazing amount of time and the responsibility a something on the order of a very large toddler that could turn and accidentally (or worse deliberately) kill you, or anyone else, at any moment.
Uhm, so maybe you can understand why I'm content with my wild ravens? : )

Incredible animals. I hope they are happy. If I knew it wasn’t going to scratch or bite or attack me then I would love to pet and cuddle lions, tigers and bears!!!
They are great and beautiful beasts made by God, but their beastliness came from man messing everything up for the whole creation - it is no wonder that they sometimes get angry at people.

Gosh wow the Animal School is amazing, glad you got to be with exotic animals that most people dont get to see your pet, up close.
And I agree with you, before Adam and Eve sinned. We were going to live in harmony with the animals and plants. One day up in heaven, or when Jesus comes back. We can all live in peace once again.
Alexandra Stubbs, while we are all supposed to be interacting (in the pre-serpent+apple scenario) happily together, weren’t the tigers and bears going to get hungry? What do you think the first tigers ate? Did they not need food? What - no, WHO did they eat?
