Gray didn't get distracted. He was concerned about her safety while bickslow was fire the beams at random. That is the reason gray took one of the beams that was about to hit the little kid.

This arc hits me hard on a second watch. Knowing how much they care for each other, seeing the mwmbers fight each other and Makarov having to watch hos children fight is kinda heartbreaking
Fairy Tail is such a great anime it is always fun to see people just watch and enjoy one of the best anime's ever created. Great reaction content as always.

When this episode came out the producers of the anime weren't sure how long it would last. Hence, when Laxus says the strongest 3 in the guild are him, Mystogan and Erza that's not entirely correct. ;)
I thought they did that just to leave it as a surprise when the anime gets there

To those saying Erza should be pronounced as 'err za' because "that's the correct pronunciation in English": it's really not. Look up "names starting with 'Er'", and you'll notice that in names―and especially short names―the 'Er' is practically always pronounced as 'ɛɹ.' (like 'air', but shorter). Examples include "Eric", "Erin", "Erica", "Eris". Native speakers should realize this immediately: after all, no one would ever pronounce 'Eric' as 'err-ick'.
The 'err za' in the dub is simply a mispronunciation. It is an understandable mistake, since English names starting with 'Er' are rare; however, it is 100% wrong.

Girl, there is no "R" in the name Mystogan.
Also, there was no girl in the Grey vs. Bixlow fight in the Manga. Grey straight up lost, with underhanded methods yes, but still just lost. He wasn't distracted or took the hit to protect someone .........
