Hey Twins, the DJ is Eric B and of course, the MC is Rakim, they are from Long Island, NY. This duo definitely left their mark on hip-hop culture. They have classic hits, such as, paid in full, microphone fiend, and follow the leader. Rakim was like no other, lyrically and delivery when he came into the rap game. He is a living legend.
Have y’all listen to Big Daddy Kane yet?? Please check him out!!! The tracks you gotta listen to: 1. Ain’t No Half Steppin 2. Smooth Operator 3. Warm it up Kane 4. Set it off 5. I get the job done

As a metal head that apprrciates good music, Eric B and Rakim (and A Tribe Called Quest) got me into hip-hop back in the day. Undeniable how smooth and intelligent Rakim is.
Rakim is the reason your favourite rapper loves rap. It was ALL about what bars you could spit. Rakim is one of the best to ever do it. Don't Sweat The Technique and Let The Rhythm Hit' Em we’re probably their two biggest songs. Man, I miss the HipHop days.
I'm glad yall enjoyed this song because this was my era, the golden age of hip-hop music. We used to be stylin with the sweat suits: Fila, ellesse, Puma, adidas, Sergio Tacchini, etc. no skinny jeans back then.

Listening to Eric B & Rakim's "My Melody" first would have given you some insight to some of the lyrics in this record. He references it a few times and you have gotten more bang out of the "7 emcees" line. Back in the day we went crazy over that line because of the release order of the records
If you listen to this again pay attention to how he gives you the titles to almost all of his songs in this one song! I'm a fan Ra is called the 18th letter he is fire on everything he does! Check out some of his other song .....he doesn't disappoint!
In hip hop there was a before and an after: before Rakim and after Rakim. Everything before him was really just old school with great lyrics but mostly had to do with parties and sucker mcs. Rakim was the one that changed all that and basically the one that all the others copped their style from and that includes Biggie, Pac, Jay Z, Nas, Eminem etc.
Although a classic this song is so old their parents were kids. If you think back to when you were their age you weren’t listening to 35 year old music either. The fact that they’re educating themselves is what makes them special.
I just got the chills! That east coast hip-hop! Eric B. and Rakim are the truth. "Mircophone Fiend", "Follow The Leader," "Don't Seat The Technique," and so much more. Check out Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, 3rd Base, KRS ONE, The Guru, and I can go on and on.

Rakim is the best rapper PERIOD. Big Daddy Kane is a close second. Please review ‘Eric B is President’ by Eric B & Rakim. You’ll love the beat and rap flow
Rakim’s rhymes were so unique and complex at the time that he was actually laughed at when he first spit a lot of these rhymes, and advised he should change his style to be more marketable…but he stuck with his guns and laid the blueprint for the Nas’, Jay-Z’s and Eminems that would come later.
I can't believe this is your first time hearing THE GOD MC Rakim. He changed the way everybody rapped. He is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. He inspired everybody after him. When Nas first came out, he was considered "the second coming of Rakim."
Listen, I only saw Eric B & Rakim live in concert once. That was in 1987 at the Def Jam Concert. Everybody song Every Word to All of their songs!!! It was the best!!!
Rakim's the MC, Erik B. the DJ. Easily top 5 MC's of all time. So glad to see this. Hope it revives the cut and the album. This whole album is a Classic, in any genre--one of a few hip hop joints still in rotation around the world.
