I agree you sounds rough man! Hopefully you get feeling better soon. I like the knife except for the blade shape, problem is I honestly don’t know what shape I’d prefer either. 😅
i usually put sog in the same category as gerber... not garbage, but also not a great product for what you pay for. BUT, every now and then they put out a good one, and this one seems like a pretty good knife from sog
To military for edc not many blades have a blood line on blade put on military bayonets to assist penetration doc. Not necessary on edc blade Stuart Palmer Adelaide Sth Australia. This blade could be used for inappropriate reasons violence.
A big misconception many people (myself included for a long time) is that a fuller is a "blood groove". It actually strengthens the blade while helping to lighten it a bit. It's the same principle as corrugating sheet metal. Once upon a time this mythology about helping the blade "not get stuck" in a body came about. But we see them being used far back in history on Long and Broad swords that would have been used primarily as slashing weapons - who's very long blades would also have been a bit wobbly. The smiths then figured out that adding the fuller helped those blades keep their rigidity & also lightened them so it didn't take Thor to swing them. Using the fuller spread to shorter blades for the same reasons. I can't find where the idea of turning the fuller into a "blood groove" came from exactly, but it's been believed for a longtime. I myself didn't know the real deal until a Master Bladesmith taught me. and sent me after some historical references. I think you're onto something that they just included it here to make it look more military like. It likely doesn't add that much weight savings on a blade this thin or short.
Spear point if my favorite
I would LOVE to see more spear points
Good overview about the SOG knife sir. See you on your next video. Take care and be safe.
