I got one of these in the mail Friday. It was crap out of the box. After over 2 hours flipping it trying to get it to work, I gave up called SOG. The guy at SOG said he couldn't understand what I was talking about, brushed me off as a lunatic. So, I drowned it in KPL, took the spindle apart put it back in and kept flipping it and adjust the pivot and throwing it against the wall several times. Still the flipper lever is very soft and will fail deployment easily. Thumb stud deployment almost impossible. Money wasted. Did I just get a bad one or is there a problem with SOG? There is certainly a problem with SOG customer service. I will never buy a SOG again.
No, you didn't get a bad one. The flipper on mine is garbage too. There's no detent, so it doesn't "snap" , and will fail to deploy fully 90% of the time, so I don't use it. Other than that tho, i really like it. I just use the thumb stud, or use "flick" deployment with the XR lock. Mine is glass smooth, drop-shutty, and rock solid with zero blade play in any direction. Other than the bad flipper, and maybe a questionable choice in screw size, it's a great knife.
@@Pharto_Stinkus I tried to sell it but as soon as people attempted to deploy the blade they just hand it back to me. Its been a year and I am not even sure where the hunk of poorly functioning metal is at the moment, probably in the bottom of a junk drawer.
Dude I bought the black out version and it's amazing worth every penny imo razor sharp out the box best knife I've ever owned my next purchase is the bug out with titanium scales
I had the SOG Tac XR and i was really impressed. Especially compared to what SOG has put out in the past few years. It was perfectly centered, no blade play or lock rock, and it had awesome action. Really like how they did their XR lock. SOG definitely impressed me with the Tac XR. Great video/honest review as always LTK.
I am glad SOG is making a comeback for sure . This is a cool design but I am not luving the price on it especially for all the issues it has . Thanks for showing so many awesome knives .
I bought this knife. Carried it and loved. Im careful to sharpen it not to scratch it. It disappeared 2yrs ago. Left work and came back a yr later. Found my knife qt a guys house. I work w him. I asked a lot and fussed a lot that my knife was gone. Mans says he found it and forgot to give it back. Now my knife has the tip broke off.
If one day Twosun starts implementing other locking systems besides frame and linerlocks... When that day comes.. it's going to change the game completely.
I have the same knife as shown in your video. I have two main complaints: 1) do not like the thin, short pocket clip. I don’t understand for a knife that is advertised for professionals would have such a weak component. I emailed SOG to complain about the belt clip and asked if they would provide something more robust such as the clip on the Seal Folder. No response. 2) don’t like the screws. I would prefer something like what Emerson uses. Regular Phillips head or hex head screws. Question for you? What is the size of the screws used on this knife. I would be to be able to replace my current pocket clip with something longer and stronger
This new design looks nice , the old style had too much handle flex I wonder if they are going to make them in 4" and 5" blade length versions like the old style ???
I really wanted to like this knife but to many simple design flaws..the xr system it self is great if you get a good one..good luck with that..the clip it self has a pull designed into it but no deep carry built in is a major fail along with t6 really..SOG is not getting any of my money..it does look nice but that's it..
The knife is made for, and marketed to "professionals", LEOS, Soldiers, etc. (like Benchmade's Black Class), the box literally says "Professional" on the box. It's not designed for EDC. The clip is placed so that the knife is easy to grab with gloves on. No lanyard because, users in the groups the knife was made for, don't want one. The blade stock is thin because it's meant for piecing, in an offensive capacity, it's not a "working" knife. Complaining about on purpose design choices, when you're not the target audience, makes no sense. It's like buying a sportscar, then complaining it's not a pickup.
Just so you know that's designed to be a tactical knife and you want to be able to get it out of your pocket quickly that's why the clip is the way it is. Just my two cents but what do I know.. "Retired military" but i wouldnt want it for a tacticle knife personaly, just sayn
Good review. Was considering, but I like the new Presidio II I bought better. S30V, CF light scales, nice sharpening choil, & US made for ~$125 shipped. :)
My opinion on SOG is that they are a company that does nothing exceptionally well, hell they don’t do anything even competing with other brands. They seem to be a continuum of let downs. I can’t remember a time when everyone wanted the new SOG knife. Not to mention, for what you get with SOG, you are paying SO much more than other brands. One knife nut to another, stay away from SOG for the most part.
For 50 bucks more you can order a TRM Atom in 20cv with ti liners and clip. And it works at cutting and opening and closing. I lost interest on SOG year's ago. That used to stand for Special Operations Group. Now it's more like Some Old Guys unfortunately.
Overpriced and it’s a clone of a terzoula. They rip designs from real actual makers and add a flipper tab lol. These guys are supposed to be showing us what they can do after the rough last few years they had - this isn’t bringing it. This is steep for nothing. SOG still needs to prove themselves at this point because everything I see if garboooo.

I got a perfect one of these.. perfectly centered, perfect deployment, and a dropper. I LOVE THIS KNIFE
country of chaz, the summer of love hahah, you are the best sir xD
Thanks for taking the Pentagon apart. I have the LTE arriving today and plan to tune it up.

Begging for a flipper tab delete just like the terminus.

I got a good one too. Seems like they were hit/miss before selling the company.
Too expensive even with discounts for me, but it’s a good looking knife! I do agree with all your points on the knife, both positive and negative!
Good looking knife but for $ 20 more you can get the Super Freek at White Mountain use LTK. I have many times :)
I am glad SOG is making a comeback for sure . This is a cool design but I am not luving the price on it especially for all the issues it has . Thanks for showing so many awesome knives .
Its a tactical nkife so the clip makes sense as you need to be able to grab it easily

LTK!! Amazing channel and content you always have! Have a great week!
That OD Green looks good. The Blackout version is more than the “colored” versions for some reason.
SOG Flash AT is the one 😜 thanks for the videos 👌🏼
Love the video as much as I like fidgeting this knife.
I bet they go with the superlong box so that they can use the same box across there lineup including fix blades and just change the graphics
Please do a review of the Vision XR. I have one and I love it. I want to know your opinion on the knife. Thanks.
If one day Twosun starts implementing other locking systems besides frame and linerlocks... When that day comes.. it's going to change the game completely.
Yeah maybe if they get ther heat treats on par with other higher end companies. If i get m390 then i want it to perform like proper heat treated m390
@@macmccartney5760 Agreed

Lol summer of love lol nice. Sweet blade man
I like the new SOG's, too... My favorite, so far is the Tanto Vision; it's an awesome little CR Flipper. Peace, Stiletto :-)
You can request a deep carry pocket clip from SOG... just like the one on the Terminus XR, which is what the directions show.
LTK, please make a fidget friendly knives collection video! :]
How can i fix the blade play I have on the knife?
Up and down or side to side ?
This new design looks nice , the old style had too much handle flex I wonder if they are going to make them in 4" and 5" blade length versions like the old style ???
Like the steel. XR lock is good but not worth what they think it is. Oh well.

Max 40 euro.... 170 ?
I don't understand this dagger shape on a side opening folder. It only makes half the blade an useless space.
Remember fox predator...
$90 @ midway right now

Wait... a SOG with blade play??? 🤣
Great vid. Glad I watched cuz now it’s a pass for me 💁🏻♂️

It means Studies and Observation Group.

$150? 🤦♂️
Sog's new stuff looks pretty decent. But there's zero value there whatsoever. Pass
