Manny from VPG reached out to me about my thumbs rubbing up against the thumb encoders when I turn the wheel. He told me they make a lower profile knob that could help that situation. Just wanted to make sure I shared that info as it seems there is a nice solution to the issue for those of us with wide thumbs :) Thanks to Manny for suggesting that. In addition to the low profile knobs I have also ordered plain button caps and stickers for better customization.
Nice review. I have this wheel and find the grips fine with or without gloves, not sure if they changed the material. Not sticky like some Ascher wheels but I've had no issues with griping the wheel even at pretty high torque levels.
Hi. Yeah I would not mind trying the soelpec but I think I have bought enough wheels recently for a while :) I have the bavarian pro coming soon. It ships out on Tuesday...so maybe end of this week or early next week I can try it. The more I am using the VPG the more I like it. Yeah I still wish the grips had more grip to the material, but with gloves it is livable. I like the shape of the grips and the 300mm I like a lot.
Hey Crispy, I know this is a bit off topic but I saw you did a review of the Rexing Mayaris about a year ago. I‘m considering to buy the Rexing or the GSI Hyper P1. Why did you get rid of you Rexing? What are the downsides to it? Thank you in advance :)
Rexing is a great wheel. Very comfortable grips and very light weight. I got rid of it, to make room to try other wheels to be honest as I buy all these wheels :). The buttons and rotaries on the Rexing are not as nice as the VPG or X/29 is the minor thing I did not like about it.
@@Crispy.iRacing did you get the newest version or an older one? The website says that now 4 of the 6 encoders are ELMA encoders. So they should be quite a bit stiffer, which maybe improves them
Hi@@MaxnochWeniger I know when I ordered the VPG wheel, they still had to build it, meaning it was not old stock, so I assume that means I have the latest encoders. They are not terrible by any means, and keep in mind how much resistance people like is so subjective. I would not let my comments about then get in the way of making a purchase.
hmm...I wrote a reply earlier but I don't see it. Maybe I did not click on the "reply" button. I used to have the GRID and the main advantage it has over the VPG is the grip material have more grip to it. However it is heavier than the VPG so slightly less ffb details. I have not tried the PSE on my rig but did hold it in my hands. Nice wheel, but don't really get the huge jump in price of that over the GRID and the VPG is a fair bit cheaper than the GRID. I have not tried the Pkorny, so no basis of comments on that other that it sure looks the part. As much as I don't like the extra weight of the GRID, if you can afford the additional spend then I think it's grip material would convince me that is the better wheel. I guess I should not have sold my GRID wheel but weight did bother me. Hope that helps.

Thoughts compared to the Grid Porsche, Pokorny, or the PSE LMX?
