  • It's the confidence with which these people spew such nonsense for me.
    This…is not wellness.

The dumbest reasoning. Girl in black suggests using butter when it has a notoriously low smoke point. It's why chefs recommend clarifying it or adding a neutral oil to butter.

She’s giving “if I can’t pronounce it I shouldn’t be eating it” vibes.

At my house, we put the oil in the covered. We only use avocado and extra virgin olive oil

I have a question, don't you think something like Ghee is a very good option since it is high in saturated fat, which will bring down blood Lpa levels and will also help to prevent ldl from oxidizing, it also contains a substantial amount of oleic acid which is supposed to have a similar effect in helping ldl to resist oxidation, also interestingly I looked further into ghee, and from what I was able to understand it will actually reduce all of your cholesterol values, ldl included while still increasing hdl, unlike butter and other things high in saturated fat which raise both hdl and ldl, which is incredible, I even read something that said it reduces arachidonic acid metabolites by around 60%, and it doesn't include any casein proteins which there are some mixed views on, in this case of the a1 type, what are your thoughts and wouldn't this mean ghee is a very good option and offers protection against something like heart disease?
Also Ghee is high in omega 3.

We don't use oil that often in our diet and almost never to cook with except sesame oil for stir fry. So we store all oil in the refrigerator and it lasts forever. We store our spices in the fridge, too.
    Rancid oils are so stinky.

Does adding some EVOO to soup (with pepper or hot sauce for instance) avoid the smoke point problem, and the problem of free radicals?

      How hot is the soup?

@@FoodScienceBabe I can control the temperature for a low and slow temp. Are you concerned about keeping histamine levels low? Or do you mean the hot sauce will make the soup hot!?

You can't debunk everything I wouldn't worry since micro plastics are in everything but it's true they're not good for you of course

To me the most important consideration would be avoiding saturated fats for their cholesterol contribution. So switching to butter like she suggests would actually make you less healthy.. She's got it quite upside down.

Thanks for the useful chart. But recommending refined plant oils seems like an even more unhealthy approach than the risk of oxidation during cooking.

Nope. I’ve shared the large body of evidence many times. Unfortunately there’s a lot of misinformation out there about seed oils.
