Really glad I found your vids, man. I basically copied the core of your system, including the Geku bar and board, and it’s been great. Maybe for someone the X3 or Harambe is worth it, but anyone just starting out (like I was two months ago) should begin with a setup like yours.

As soon as I saw the new bar I thought "Gamerbody's gonna love this"! Got it last week myself and have been LOVING it. The knurling is a great touch that makes me reach for the bar more - just makes it more pleasant to use. I found the new hooks make it a bit easier to slip my big bands in & out. Plus they're way smoother than the old ones which put small cuts on my bands until I filed the edges smooth. Glad you're happy with it. Your setup and videos have been a big inspiration to me!
Yeah, as soon as I saw it on Amazon I purchased it. The hooks are a little sus to me, but so far they have held up in my workout today. Tomorrow starts the official workout program test with the bands until 2025.
Thanks for your videos, they have helped me a lot to find a decent and not too expensive setup. I'm now using the Geku aluminium bar, Serious Steel bands and a Whiteoak platform, works great.

As much as I loved traditional gyms, I didn't like the membership headaches (on top of commuting and then waiting 30 mins for someone to "finish" their non-existent set 😂). You seriously convinced me to get most of your setup, and I'm never looking back. Cheers!
Last time I searched for that board it was gone. Glad it's back. I have the Tribe bar with eyeholes at the ends but I'm going to try this one. Better than using carabineers IMHO...
Just bought this using your link. I saw your review when it first came out, but I already had the other Geku bar and was happy with it. WAS. I see in your review this one provides a better grip, which has suddenly become very important to me, as I just lost control of it somehow when the band shifted in the hooks and it slingshotted into my chest during bench press. I'm not injured, but I sure didn't like it. I even invented some new profanity, Yosemite Sam style. Luckily it was only a warmup set of around 150, but that hurt plenty. I will gladly pay $70 to never feel that again. I might put one of those barbell squat pads on it, too, just for a little protection.
I hope you are OK! I never had that happen, but make sure whatever bar you are using you are safe. It is one reason I don't recommend back squats as i have nearly lost my balance before and fallen off the platform - which could end really badly.
@@GamerBody Yeah, I've been using bands for the last 3 years and never had that happen before. It was just so sudden. I did some work on them to remedy that and now mine rotate very smoothly. The new hooks look like much better quality from what I saw in your video. Clench has a new light weight bar. It's not $70 but still less than x3 and Harambe and the quality looks to be amazing utilizing real bearings and their carabiners.
I bought the original black bar based off of your videos and I love the product. That one also came with the carry case which is very handy. I will check out the board and this new bar also. Keep up the useful content!
Thanks for the video. You are so right , the X3 and Harambe are so over priced especially the Harambe system for over $1000 plus . Glad other companies are coming out with products to compete and make these systems a lot more affordable
It is the #1 reason I have not purchased either the X3 bar or Harambe. I think they are cool designs, but just too expensive and I can make one with J hook handles and other options for far less then they are asking. Materials may be more premium, but how premium do I need them to be if mine are holding up just fine now, for way less.
For the resistance bands, go with Serious Steel. They are more expensive, but after recently repurchasing the UnderSun I am very disappointed in them. I've been using the Serious Steel and they have been much better. Here is video I made on why I dont like the 2024 UnderSun bands: ua-cam.com/video/AqNVqeu27fM/v-deo.html
Have you tried using the Geku bar as a set of dumbbells? If you have, what’s the max “weight” resistance you’ve used on them? I’m debating on maybe purchasing the Geku dumbbells
Wait, there are GEKU dumbbells? For the "weight" I'm not sure what it would be since it is variable resistance and changes based on the stretch. I can say I have used the black Serious Steel band that says the range is 60-150lbs (not sure if this is single or double looped).
Going to give the J Bryant bar a try, it comes in segments that allow a 30" and 38" length, aluminum like this, and the ends have a flat hook which I'm hoping holds it in the middle better. If that doesn't work out I will have to try this Geku.
Wondering how you're getting along with the J Bryant bar? These seem to be your two best recommendations at the moment so a comparison would be great of pros and cons?
@@roj_000 I'm happy with it, set at the 30" length. I think you're splitting hairs between them as long as you get the aluminum one. I don't see the aluminum geku on amazon, but still see the j-bryant one for sale. I still use dumbbells more often because I find resistance bands a bit finicky. In particular, the bands tend to move (e.g. for chest exercises), and there's a relatively narrow window between no resistance at all and crazy max resistance. Finding that window for each exercise basically means you need a way to record or remember it, and then you have setup time since sometimes you double up the band and sometimes you don't. It can actually be easier without the bar, since if you're gripping the band with your hands it's easier to move your hand a few inches either way to adjust tension. But this makes it all hard to judge progress since it's not the same every time. All in all, I still use it on off days in between workouts with weights. Long story short, for the bar, get a metal one and you should be good.
It seems that resistance band training has gotten to the point where it can get expensive depending on if you get a training system like X3, and now there's even a machine out there. One of the things I appreciate about your videos is you provide information on equipment that won't break the bank, yet still gets the job done. I'm currently using an Innstar bar that you reviewed in a prior video with Clench carabiners, but I may give this bar a go.
It's been on and off. This happens with all the newer GEKU products as I think they have a limited supply. The 1st bar and board went out of stock all the time. It should improve though as demand continues to stay up and manufacturing gets better (at least from what I have seen).
Hot item for sure. It is one of the better products at the price point. I liked the original one a lot, but this one is even better so I'm not that surprised. The board was selling out a lot as well when it 1st launched.
Yes I do. So far everything up through the Green Serious Steel bands have been perfectly fine. I am moving to the black band for SS, and I think this is where it might start to become a properly. Luckily I am at about my max strength physically for it, so I don't think I could get to a bending point as is, but just so you are aware in case you are a lot stronger than I am.
What do you think the chances are that this barbell will break into 2-3 pieces at the connection points under heavy loads? I don’t really trust such barbells, but the one-piece alternative costs 3x more at an insane price. I’d like to hear your opinion. I’m not so much concerned about the hooks as I am about the bar itself and the fact that it consists of three parts. There’s also a possible risk that over time the connection points might start to loosen, but I'm not sure. Anyways, it wouldn’t be very pleasant if it broke in half during a bench press and hit the soft tissues, kinda deadly.
With the Aluminum bar I have felt perfectly fine - though I do check the connections before starting each set (just manually turn them really quick to make sure nothing feels loose). In my testing it felt great and no bending in the bar. Im more concerned with the hooks on the end bending then the bar itself coming apart. I hope that helps!
@@GamerBody Thank you for the response! Have you seen/tried Dasking bar and Tribe bar? The Geku is out of stock and I find these two quite durable, but again they consist of 2-3 parts and I think I have some phobia which mentally stops me from going heavy and it forces me to check the connections every time :D, even though it says the load capacity is around 500lbs. I've been also thinking about DIY solution using a steel pipe, which is solid, but unlike fitness bars, the plumbing pipe walls are thinner and I would also feel unsafe using it... Would be so cool if there would be a one piece thick 25-30 inch bar (X3 alternative).
I have not tried them. I have seen them though. I didn't go with them as I wasn't sure how 500lbs tension would be with bands. I feel like they could work though, but I personally have not tested them. I have used the INNSTAR bar in an older build, but it is a one-piece bar and a bit longer. I did like that setup a lot though before the GEKU bars came around.
I don't work for the company, but if I see it while I look around, I'll try and get a post out. I'm not sure if there is another way you can set a reminder in Amazon when it is back in stock as that may be easier.
I ended up buying the larger hooks that are compatible with the original bar also, to replace the smaller ones it came with , which had bent on my original geku bar. These hooks appear to be a lot more durable and so far have proved much stronger. I am now happy with my originally purchased Geku bar however I'm kinda jealous of how the new metalic bar looks much more aesthetically pleasing. I may give in and replace the bar at some point . A thumbs up from me so far.
@@GamerBody They are the same as the larger hooks you get with the chrome bar, that are both sturdier, for some reason but also accommodating a wider band much more easily.

Would be cool in their next iteration if they made one end have a male end and the other end piece have a female. So you can shrink the bar down by just hooking the two end pieces together for bar lenghth variety
If you can get that twist connector piece out of them middle section, this is possible. Mine is stuck though and I will need tools to unscrew it. It isn't that big an issue for me, but if you can unscrew yours and not get stuck, it is certainly an option.
Great review to be fair if it is bending and locking with what you consider heavy deadlifts and a 3.5 inch hook it can not compare with those other systems. But looks like a nice little light travel system. It would cost me over 1k in hooks replacing them after every deadlift day.
You could go with my old hook system. That once can support an insane amount of resistance. I've never bent any of my hooks so far (just saw someone did in a review on Amazon) and I combine bands all the time. Here is a video of the old triangle hooks I used. You would have to buy the ring attachments from GEKU to use them, but might be an option: ua-cam.com/video/z0oJX8ui1cw/v-deo.html

I think the Serious Steel Bands are good (after washing them to get rid of the residue). They are pricey and the jump in resistance from one to the next can be a lot. However, if you are looking for a lot of resistance, I think they are great. With that said, to price for value, I think the UnderSun are my favorite. Both are great from my testing so far though so can't really go wrong either way. I may run another test with just the Serious Steel bands after this test (the poll voted for UnderSun in the test, but it was close).
@GamerBody I'm a personal trainer and also training with the bands on my own. I don't live in the US, so Importing them off Amazon is 150$. My question is, is there really a difference or is it all just marketing.
If it is just bands, feel free to go with a cheaper option that is similar. Don't go too cheap as they will likely snap. Also, look into the layering type as the way the latex is layered matters in making bands more durable.
@GamerBody yes I'm trying to understand if there is a difference between mid range price, to high end price in term of products quality. For example on Amazon there is a brand called tribe mid range price compared to serious steel
The only reports I've seen is that some of the hooks have bent on people. I'm lucky enough where it hasn't happened yet (crossing fingers) but that seems to be the biggest issue as of right now. I might try getting the circle end-hooks and then adding my own triangle links from my INNSTAR bar and see if that feels good or not. It is nice that some triangle links come with it, but only if they can support the resistance.
Hello Mr. Marstaller (man, that was formal) I was wondering if you have made a video about anchoring bands, I couldn't find any. I'm fortunate enough to have a pair of hammock hooks welded to the inner beam of my concrete wall, but obviously that's only good for attaching bands to an upper point, for lower I have to be creative... Honestly I think with time, those door anchors will damage my doorframe...
Im actually moving completely away from any wall/door anchors. The closest thing I have now for an "anchor" is with doorframe pull-ups using the Crossgrips. I also don't like to use the door anchor as it can damage your door, and I found that after a certain band, it pulls me off the ground anyways.
Hi Derrik, What do you think about which bar you'd recommend to a 70yo grandma starting her first workout regimen? It seems that the older GEKU bar is significantly narrower than the newer aluminum bar, no?? So, I'd be thinking that with her smaller hands, that might be affecting her grip just a bit too much than the smaller, more narrow variant. Let me know what you think :) and as another commenter mentioned already, the larger hooks can be bought and are compatable with the older bar, pretty cool. Thanks for this review, really awesome!!
With the knurling on the new bar I think that one is still better. However...I would honestly recommend a 70yo grandma go with dumbbells. The main reason is how easy they are to pick up and use. My recommendation would be the Core Fitness Adjustable Dumbbells which just go to 50lbs. If used correctly, no more resistance will be needed for that age. If you still feel like going with resistance bands, then I'd still go with the newer bar as the difference is very small, but the upgrade, to me, is worth the extra price. I don't think hand size will be an issue here. If all else fails, return to Amazon and get the original bar :)
Based on your earlier videos, I bought and received the original bar just a couple of days ago. I could probably return it and get this one, but I'm not convinced it's worth twice the price. I don't travel, so the case isn't a draw for me, and having played a bit with the black bar, it seems like it will do the job just fine. I think the new one is over-priced, in any case. All that said, nice, informative review!
No, it is a newer product so it goes in and out of stock a lot. This happened with the original bar, platform, and now the new bar. I'm hoping they get more in stock to help with demand as people move towards this newer version.

@GamerBody yes I'm trying to understand if there is a difference between mid range price, to high end price in term of products quality.
For example on Amazon there is a brand called tribe mid range price compared to serious steel
What are the chances anything on that bar snaps? Do you know if there have been reports of their previous bar failing not just bending?
The only reports I've seen is that some of the hooks have bent on people. I'm lucky enough where it hasn't happened yet (crossing fingers) but that seems to be the biggest issue as of right now. I might try getting the circle end-hooks and then adding my own triangle links from my INNSTAR bar and see if that feels good or not. It is nice that some triangle links come with it, but only if they can support the resistance.
I wish they would bring this back so I can order one, lol
Hello Mr. Marstaller (man, that was formal)
I was wondering if you have made a video about anchoring bands, I couldn't find any.
Hi Derrik,
What do you think about which bar you'd recommend to a 70yo grandma starting her first workout regimen? It seems that the older GEKU bar is significantly narrower than the newer aluminum bar, no?? So, I'd be thinking that with her smaller hands, that might be affecting her grip just a bit too much than the smaller, more narrow variant. Let me know what you think :) and as another commenter mentioned already, the larger hooks can be bought and are compatable with the older bar, pretty cool. Thanks for this review, really awesome!!
Darrik*, I'm sorry bro. lol
I personally really enjoy the new one, but if you don't feel the material upgrade or knurling are worth it, the original will do great!
Just buy the larger hooks separately to upgrade the black bar, they are compatible and a worthy upgrade in my opinion
@@rustyboltskpears368 I'll keep that in mind. Good suggestion!
got one off amazon, one of the band hooks shrieks like FK when it turns. have mailed them to ask what to about it.
WD40
Mine used to make noise. I took them off and on a few times and it doesn't do that anymore :)
Currently unavailable. 😥
Did they discontinue already? Amazon says unavailable 😢
No, it is a newer product so it goes in and out of stock a lot. This happened with the original bar, platform, and now the new bar. I'm hoping they get more in stock to help with demand as people move towards this newer version.
Would anyone know if x3 bands fit in this bar?
I don't personally, but I would think so. The hooks that come with it are 3.5 inches, so if the width of that band is around that, it should be fine.
Tempting
Does anyone know how to contact the company? I swear it's been like two going on three weeks, and this thing is not restocked.
Restocking in progress
Seems they are watching my channel - if that is a real comment from the company on your comment :)
@@GamerBody I really hope it is. I want to get this thing before it gets too cold outside.
Can’t find this bar😂
It's been in and out of stock as it is a new product they offer. The board and original bar were the same. Hopefully they can get more in stock and keep it stocked soon.
Too bad this bar is no longer available. I'm hoping they are just out of stock and that they haven't been sued by X3 or Harambe
Yeah its been going in and out of stock. Hopefully it comes back in stock soon.
"Our brand's Chinese name is '极酷' (G-COOL), which means 'very cool'."
Oh no, I was hoping for some kind of gecko 🦎
@@geckofeet 😂🤣😂
The board is no longer available.
It goes in and out. If you don't want to think about it, try "The Step" platform from this setup: ua-cam.com/video/UuYMtHK9yRM/v-deo.html
