Love the new buttons on the sweater! You have one of those big Joanne's, love the wall of yarn - Our Joanne's have been ok - we have two - one always has so much stock in boxes in the aisles it is hard to look. THe other tends to have open spaces and is sometimes a mess. We shall see what will happen. The only other craft stores we have is a Michaels and a couple of Hobby Lobby but neither of them have the stock of yarn and fabric that Joanne's has. I live in Syracuse NY

We've never had Joann stores in Canada but it looks like such a great place. I hope it gets revived. Mosi is really coming along, and I love the new buttons on your other cardigan even though the wooden ones appealed to me too. Lucky knitting lesson friend!! Have a fun birthdays time!! While I loved the old buttons, I felt they were not right for that particular sweater. I LOVE the new choice! They do not detract from the color work - which looks sensational!

I liked the wooden buttons on your cardigan, but I DO like these better . Solid choice. The buttons really change the focus. Sometimes, they are like place keepers until all of a sudden, you find just what you want, even if you didn't know for certain that you wanted something else. You have that nagging feeling it's not quite right. Do you find it difficult to find the right piece for wooden buttons? I do. And I love them. They are beautiful. I am a sucker for big handmade ones, but I have not found a place for any on my clothing, so I just sew them on a little canvas boards and display them. Some day....

I used to work at my local joann. That is part of what inspired me to knit. I taught new to knitting classes and kids classes too. I left when they started cutting my hours. It's too bad whats going on. I enjoy your videos. I've only just found you during holiday vlog season. Enjoying catching up on older videos.

I remember when you took us to your JoAnn’s last summer so you could buy sewing supplies and I was so impressed by how good it was and bounteous compared to the one here. Ours has been understaffed with empty-ish shelves for more than a year. A friend had the experience of helping them stock the shelves so she could buy what she was looking for. I’m so sorry if it is going to go under altogether and I would be especially sorry for yours to go. I loved your crafty get together as well. We took so much for granted and now we can’t, we have to be grateful for what we do have.
oh gosh, so sorry to hear this! we used to have a much smaller, older store but then just a couple of years ago, they moved into a new building and we got a new bigger store. I'll be so sad if we lose it!
I wish I had a crafting group near me. What a way to spend a day! 😊My JoAnn’s has not been doing well for a long time. Michael’s has been using more of their yarn. It does carry a lot of Lion Brand. I wanted to let you know that you’ve inspired me to use up my gift knitting supper bulky yarn to make hats. I found an organization that provides knits to LBQTQ+ youth. They are called Knit the rainbow. I can use your pattern for this. By the way, I love how your sweater is coming. I hope to run into at next year’s VKL. Happy Knitting. 🧶 ❤

We do not have a Joanns in Australia but we have a similar store called Spotlight. So many businesses are struggling here in Australia due to the high cost of living. People cannot afford to pay their mortgages or rents let alone spending money on clothing etc. Very dire times here and it looks like most of the world. As long as I can keep knitting I keep happy. I use the shorties in my sock knitting. Our Joanne's was a mess, then they built a new one in another strip mall area. It's beautiful and full.
I was super curious about the super shorties! I have shorties but they are not that short. Glad your store is still going strong!

Great podcast. Last Saturday was a wonderful time at Mainframe Studios. Your sweater is looking great too. I really like that you show all the hangouts in the Des Moines area. It has provided me with a great list of places to visit and hang out. The Des Moines Mercantile is definitely on my list. Jen, I hope other crafters find your podcast and join in the meet ups in the future. I’m looking forward to taking a punch needle class one day from Kat @katmeowcrafts too.
You have an AMAZING JoAnn's. I live in Maine. Ours are nothing like that. Much smaller, have looked the same for decades. It's too bad when they could be so much more!

our old store was like that, then a few years ago they moved to a new location and we got a big, new remodeled JoAnn's! It will be so sad if we lose it ....

This is what I found in a Newsweek article about which stores are closing:
After declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Joann is closing six stores in these locations:
Burlington, Iowa
Owings Mills, Maryland
Holyoke, Massachusetts
Ithaca, New York
Hickory, North Carolina
Williamsport, Pennsylvania
The closing stores will be offering shoppers major discounts, up to 90 percent off all items.
Your Joann is much brighter and better stocked than mine! I was just at my Joann last week and the lady told us they don't know what will happen. Another local Joann closed last year so this is the only one left. They had new fabrics but the yarn dept has always been a little hit and miss. Fingers crossed!

Your video prompted me to visit Joanne's. Picked up some yarn for charity hats, lion brand local grown US wool. Store is starting to empty. The buttons look great. Have a wonderful week 😊

My closest Joanns in Hickory NC is closed. It was a very small store with very little yarn. My one and only purchase from Joann was online Red Heart Flower Power in Cherry Blossom. I’m making a lovely afghan.
I struggle with the "Save the JoAnn's"...because it is a big box and yet, there is the "don't buy big box, support your local yarn store and indie dyers". Don't get me wrong, I shop at JoAnn's as well for charity yarn and sewing supplies. But on the same note, it is because of JoAnn's that a cute local sewing store had to close. Even as recently in NYC, where M&J Trimming is closing.
We don’t have Joann’s store here but I would be sad if we had one that was going to close. The craft stores here do not have fabric, I have to go to a fabric store. Aside from a Quebec based craft stores, I have a Michael’s close to my house. But they don’t combine fabric and other crafts and I kinda would like that. Looks like you had fun at Best fiber friends event. If I lived closer, i would definitely go. Have a great week!

I just did a big online order from Joann's. My store seems okay but, they're working on a skeleton crew and I went there a few weekends ago and it was crazy in there. You should check online for anything you're looking for. They usually have it and you can use a coupon. The only draw back is that they charge shipping.
Also, thank you for all your content. I'm sure you know how much it means to us during this weird timeline were are in. I think sticking together as empathetic crafting humans in important.

My Joann's is in pretty tough shape and has been for a while. I live in a crafting store desert. Michael's isn't much better and my LYS closed so I have to drive a hour or more to get to Webs (which also has changed since ownership changed).
i love Joann's, its where i get all my yarn....love the big twist...i have to go back, haven' t gone there for a month...i really hope someone can save Joann's..

I feel like most crafters that buy at Joanne’s always buy when they can get a great deal or a big coupon. Over time, it hurts the store, obviously. We can’t have it both ways.

Hate to say it, but the Joann's stores around here are gone. They all had clearance sales, etc. I had no clue when it happened with my local Joann's -- just happened to wander in with my daughter and almost everything was already gone. Also, my friend in Michigan says her Joann's is selling everything at a discount and closing as well. Do you not have a Michael's? I guess it's not quite the same, is it? Anyway, sorry! Loved seeing everything people were working on on your video!
I'm so sad about JoAnn's. I did a similar run last weekend. Picked up some yarn and buttons. Best place to get inexpensive yarns for charity knits.

Our Joann’s as been a disaster for a long time now. It was brand new and nice only a few years ago but it was never properly staffed and there were always boxed unstocked products in the aisles and extremely long lines. I don’t bother with it anymore. Too frustrating.

I can't believe that Jo-Ann's is going out of business!! That's awful! I really miss ACMoore which is gone now. What's happening!! We have a huge Jo-Ann's store nearby and they seem just fine right now. I live in Pennsylvania and there are a couple other stores not too far away. I'll have to investigate!! 🫤
