- The complete journey aboard Sydney Light Rail's Inner West Line known as Route L1 between Central Station Colonnade & Dulwich Hill. Aside from the section between Central Station & the Star City Casino the line uses the right-of-way of the former Metropolitan Goods Line which once featured frequent freight trains for access to the docks which formerly operated at Pyrmont and other areas along the line.
Thanks for taking the time to video this. I enjoyed it will do this trip soon. Great to see old infrastructure reused in this way.
Nice opening shots
Nice Vlog, I love the Ossie, accent.
Mostly along old goods train line
Darling Harbour has changed just a bit from when it was all railway yards!
Good work, great video. It's the most interesting and scenic tram ride in Australia.
+StowNova I agree, though the route through Royal Park in Melbourne (55?) would be a close second for me.
Yes it is, StowNova, even if it is from the back end. I saw the other trip to Dully from the front end. Why are they so slow on the dedicated section of the rails.
I'll give to nod to Melbourne.
A shame it was dedicated to goods trains only for most of it's history. Good to get to enjoy it at long last.
Good
How long is the journey by tram/light rail to Dulwich Hill station, compared to the normal rail journey from Central?
Has anyone timed the differences lately?
Yes it is slow but do you see any traffic jams.
When filmed inside the tram, the conductor allowed you? Since you filmed at the back, I wonder if the driver let you film at the front cab? I like to do that
I was gripped while filming and the video is online so that should answer your question. I only film from the front when invited to do so as it distracts the driver from safe operation of the vehicle.
It's like Melbourne trams
Don't insult the Melbourne trams.
jslasher1 same bloody thing though, how is it insulting Melb?
Since the full introduction of Opal the CSOs have been removed.
What's the max speed of a tram in Sydney?
thanks. great.
It's been like 7 years and it's still only one line established for light rail haha, kinda slow Sydney!
Hopefully this line will connected to Olympic Park and then Parramatta
It won't be connected to Parramatta, but there will be a line built there in the future.
This tram actually has a CONDUCTOR OMG
I dont know whats the point of the conductor? We all use Opal card to tap on/off before travel. No ticket!
A conductor is there apart from checking tickets to make travel safe especially at night
They used to sell Light Rail tickets and check MyZone tickets.
they have machines to check opal cards i think
they do check opal cards now. although because there is less to do, there are less conductors now.
How slow is this bloody thing
TheWoodenVillager It is a slow mode of transport.
They are made even slower then, because they share lanes with other traffic and intersections.
It beats driving! And there’s no petrol, parking, CO2, CO, N2O3, SO2 etc. Pretty good deal wouldn’t you say?
Won't be long before intercity Hyperloops are common. How's one thousand kilometres per hour grab you.
Wow! ,n
Does anyone else see the 2 ghosts at 8 minute 45 seconds?
Yep,,,, But I think that's just mirror reflection of the passengger step out from the train
What about at 4.40. Woman hurrying to catch tram disappears
