- Since ground break in 2016, EarthCam has been working alongside the developer of One Vanderbilt, SL Green Realty Corp. to document the 67-floor, fluted terra-cotta glass exterior skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan. It took over 48 camera angles, 8 wide screen multi layered panoramas and 2.5 million images to deliver this epic time-lapse movie.
"Our fleet of cameras from different vantage points across the city enabled us to capture incredible footage of our tower becoming a permanent part of the New York City skyline.” Edward V. Piccinich, Chief Operating Officer at SL Green Realty Corp.
Watch as Midtown’s tallest commercial tower earns its place as a 'shining beacon' on the New York City skyline in minutes with this official EarthCam time-lapse
Over 40 years in construction and this still amazes me!
That's a really long time lol
@@BreakstuffzMapping That how you know it's was a union job
I waited so long for this video, followed the construction of this jewel from the beginning. Congratulations EarthCam and SL Green.
amazing
Like a phoenix rising out of the ashes into something beautifully spectacular. A tribute to the men and women who build.
❤️
When I tell you that I couldn't believe how fast they built this. One day it wasn't there, the next day it was.
IKR it took them 3 mins and 30 secs!!!! AMAZING
It's a very pretty building and I love the way it's façade looks, I do feel sorry for the Chrysler Building seeing as how it's kinda being obstructed by other structures, But I do like this one a lot, I have nothing against modern buildings, I only find some to be too futuristic for it's location. This building is mighty fine
I also felt sorry for the Chrysler building.
Same here, same goes for the Empire Building, both iconic buildings will be buried from the skyline in the future.
I worked on this building. It’s a weird feeling looking down at the Chrysler building.
@@inveniamviam4691 well you did a bloody Marveles job I will say
It's about to get much, much worse. At least One Vanderbilt is a triumph. 175 Park Ave - The supertall going up on the other side of Grand Central and across the street from Chrysler is MASSIVE (~160 feet taller than One Vanderbilt) and hideous. Much bulkier. It will obstruct the Chrysler building completely from many angles. Not long before Chrysler is just a blip on the radar unfortunately
This building reminds me of the Sears Tower (well, Willis Tower now) in Chicago.
But ever so slightly smaller and with some unique angles.
But it a bit shorter
Willis Tower is way more badass
nah, you got it right, it's the Sears Tower haha
Yes.. Sear's
The only midtown skyscraper built in the last 20 years that looks like it belongs.
bank of america tower too, don’t forget that one
Is Hudson Yards considered midtown?
@@ezequiel8931 meh, it’s in its own little corner so i don’t think so
It’s a little bulky but I like it.
@@heavenlyzuko7783 exactly one Vanderbilt and it looks like they are brothers when you look on the skyline
She's a beauty, that's for sure! Thank you for sharing!
i live 60 miles from London but i'm still convinced that NY has an unbeatable looking skyscraper collection.
I just returned from visiting Summit One Vanderbilt, and in a word, it was Spectacular. The views are amazing. I arrived just in time for the last of a beautiful sunset. The Empire State and the Chrysler Buildings appeared close enough to touch. Manhattan and the other boroughs as well as New Jersey shone like jewels. And the Moon and Venus hung in the eastern sky. The only detraction is the onerous entry procedure, but once you're upstairs it's wonderful. I came here looking for a webcam and found this time-lapse of the construction. Almost as good as the views.
Wow…
Thank you so much! What a privilege it is to see this on UA-cam.
God bless you
😍! When I was in New York with my family in June 2017, One Vanderbilt wasn’t at street level yet, the old building was already demolished as I could not see it, but I;m happy that it’s now completed and seen within the New York City skyline. Can’t wait for the observatory to open in October this year! If COVID-19 ends, maybe we can go back to New York again and come here!
@Donldrump
Simply an amazing feat by some really smart and brave humans ... I am in awe of them.
This is the best building construction time lapse I've ever seen
I remember this being built, and after school me and my friends would go there often and look at all the interesting machines.
I stand in front of this building about 7 times a month ,and let me tell you,is it HUGE,looling at it while being right in front will scare you,it has such a presence and its amazing, catch me staring at it every time
Well done!! 👏Watching this was amazing to see the progress over the years! Love seeing the NY city skyline, so this just adds to the magnificence to it!! ❤️🍎
The hight and the location of One Vanderbilt is going to make it very famous pretty quickly, just like the other buildings in the area that are also tall
Let's hear it for one of the most amazing machines of modern times: "The Tower Crane". My fav part of its design is that it literally builds itself when it needs to grow taller. :)
Steve. To see that building build up and up is an awesome thing to see, wow wow wow. 🙏🙏🙏
"can't build there..."
"Not enough wood..."
"We need more gold!"
...
...
"Job's done..."
Haha, love the Banished reference
Love the video on fast forward
Mindblowing building .. INCREDIBLE !!
This is incredible.
It's crazy how a building can be demolished and rebuilt in such a tight & busy area!
Amazing! Thanks for posting!
Impressive. Thanks for including the previous buildings demolition too
I WASC WAITIN FOR THIS 2 YEARS
I really want the 270 Park Avenue Deconstruction. Makes your videos a little more unique. Although that can be part of a larger video like this format.
Displaces the prominence of the Chrysler, with an unremarkable structure
Unremarkable??
Finally, a good - looking building in NYC
Incredible construction and video
Lovely! I can't wait to visit the observation deck on this one.
Hello from Argentina!!!
Amazing Building and video too!!
Amazing! The skyscraper that NYC deserves and not only for the supe rich. A few new zoning laws in Midtown let this beauty to stand so close to the Grand Central Station. Also, they bought air rights from a few buildings around and staked them on top to be able to get this high. Is amazing how complex is to even plan this kind of buildings in NYC today!
Looks so beautiful to see a building go to such a height from ground. Lovely video
One Vanderbilt is a 21st century version of the Empire State Building
Nah
The first modern furustic building and best opening ceremony
It’s still amazing to me how they build these towering buildings.
Love the shots with the chrysler building
Wow! The power of Man!!
We're so tiny, But we build all these big things!!
Geez why are so many people are hating this building in the comments if you guy's hate this building then why are you watching it?
Plus You guys just wanted new york to stay the same as 1990s The city needs improvement not staying in the 1900s Eyesore buildings
Was there last week. Great place and view on the NYC
Incredible!
AMAZING STRUCTURE 👏🏾
Crazy what humans could do and how far we have come
Wow! Very cool Time lapse!
One of the most beautiful buildings in nyc
I agree
Same just as beautiful as one world trade
@@savionmjallyeiither42luvr world trade center is amazing
@@vaderbuild I know right
That's awesome!!
I'm not for or against DeBlasio....but every time I see the Vanderbilt bldg., I think of him.....to me that's 'his' bldg.🗽
317 Madison Avenue and 51 East 42nd Street is demolished for One Vanderbilt.
I really don’t like how the Chrysler Building now seems hidden amongst all the other tall towers surrounding it. Stupid planning by the city allowed this to happen and now it’s hard to even notice one of NYs most classic buildings on the skyline..
Ya grease the right palms and ya gets ta build whatever and wherever. New York, New York it's a wonderful town.....Phallic symbols rise up by tearing history down.
@@thoughtfulhistorytoday7214 Everyone talking about how this monument to cheap building techniques and materials somehow makes for a "beautiful" building, shows how far we have declined as a nation. This is not architecture, this is office space, wrapped in plastic. If you want to see real architecture, look a few blocks away at the Chanin Building.
Do a video on 270 Park Ave. construction
just a gorgeous building
It’s cool to see a steel constructed skyscraper, all modern skyscrapers seem to be constructed with reinforced concrete.
Incredible.
Awesome video!!
Amazing building 👌👌
I think the deconstruction was more amazing than the construction.
Beautiful!
Awesome when is 432 park avenue time lapse coming?
Building is disliked a lot, but I think it's a really cool building
@@SquidCena agreed
Beautiful building
So good. Love it
Vanderbilt, you know! Anderson Coopers family

It's God's force behind menkind's skills
Amazing
Interesting fact, OVB and Empire State Building almost have the same height
Just imagine what we could accomplish if the whole world got along
WOOOOOW!!!! 👏😁👏

_Ternyata dibangun di bekas gedung lama ya saking udah padat nya di kota New York jadi bangunan tua nya di demolished..._
The building itself is nice but it's too close to the Chrysler building for my liking.
Yeah. I love both of them, but One Vanderbilt's size dwarfs the Chrysler building, and is literally 2 blocks away. The combination of these factors takes the Chrysler Building's local dominance away, which is kind of sad.
It would be worse if the proposed 175 Park Avenue gets built. Not only is it overall a lot bigger than One Vanderbilt with a taller height, it is literally across the street from the Chrysler Building where the Hyatt Grand Central New York is. (The black glass one with an "H" shape. It would look nice in Western Midtown near Hudson Yards, but I do not like it in its current position despite its overall pleasing design. It truly overwhelms the historic structure.
Just amazing
The only thing that would make this video better is to show the year 2020 traffic. Covid 19 is a part of this project and a part of NY City. The documentation of the standstill this city came to should be a part of this time-lapse movie.
Can't wait for Moynihan to get uploaded soon.

Good 👍 but....the Hudson yards are gonna definitely be the new attraction to the nyc skyline...I think they said it will be done in 2023.
Awesome video. Does anybody know the song name?
amazing
1:56 Met Life is talking to Vandy?
Actually that's stark tower
Actually that's stark tower
Reminds me of the Avengers Tower
One Vanderblit: Hahahahahaha, I'm bigger than you!
One World Trade Center: Lol.
I like it quite a lot
Top dos Top... Curitiba 🇧🇷😷
How do you take down a construction crane thats 1,000 feet up when your finished building?
Majority of construction accidents happening during crane deconstruction. Very scary stuff.
CrazY!!!!
3:07 WOW!
What skyscraper is currently getting built in New York?
Another hulking glass box to fatally confuse birds, which replaces an elegantly detailed masonry building scaled to compliment Grand Central. NYC never learns.
what building is demolished?
270 Park Avenue construction?
Watch at 2x playback. Trust.
Back in 2015 if they knew what was coming in 2020-21 they would have scrapped plans immediately.
hello likeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
We've always been helping to shape this beautiful country and we'll always do, but we barely get recognized for it, ...yeah ; you guess right, I am an immigrant
Everyone in this country is an immigrant chief. Besides the natives of course.
omg i've been waitign for this
Did anyone else also think their internet froze at 2:25? Lmao
Those cranes in the centre, how they dissemble ?
How the hell do they get the tower cranes out from the middle of the building?
They use smaller cranes to dismantle it.
