Who's the commentator? I like him, he's not being biaised. Also the mentioning of the other players like Werner Schlager and talking respectfully about them is great.
He is Fraser Riley from Britain, me and my friend met him at the WTTC in Budapest as we all missed the bus on our way to the hall.. humble guy aswell as a good commentator! :)

Gardos is playin the tournament of his life but Boll is still unimpressed and unexcited. It sometimes takes him one or two sets to analize his opponent but then...

7:02 Funny how commentators like to mention how Waldner is supposably the greatest of all time, but Ma Long never gets mentioned. It's hard for them to accept that a non-European can be the GOAT.
Of course,because it is about europe championship,there is nothing to do with asia etc.
Dude they're talking about European champions and what not and while he was mentioning that Timo Boll has beaten almost every Chinese he mentioned Waldner. Also Ma Long get mentioned all the time as the greatest.
Today Waldner would get destroyed by Top500 players...the game improved so much.

I am not sure to be honest that Fan Zhendong would handle Waldner, given how he struggles against Timo Boll ( almost lost a few months ago but came back from 3:1) and occasionally loses to weaker players, while Waldner has beaten Timo very smoothly. Zhang Jike for instance lost to Swedish Jon Person in WTTTC 2014. It could've even been even worse if Sweden had prime Waldner in his place. Waldner could easily be top 5 if he played now, exploiting the inaccuracy of players like Calderano, the slow spinniness of Timo (like he did before), the inconsistency of Lin Gaoyuan. Ma Long surpassed him by achievements, but Waldner was still an insanely tough player to play against. Even Liu Guoliang himself, when asked who would win Waldner or Ma Long by Kanak Jha, responded that Waldner would with the old smaller ball and Ma Long would with the current bigger ball.

Man, this Gardos guy does not back off the table. He hits the balls so early off the bounce, credit to him for that.
Why does Gardos throw the ball so high in the sky? Isn't he getting blinded by the light if he looks up?

no timo is not the Standard for europe. We have amazing Talent here! Timo is just chinese top Standard and he never played better than now.
Is there a reason why most players play black on the forhand but e.g. Gardos plays red. Is this just preference or is there anything else to it?
Tacky rubbers produced in black color are tackier and harder.That's why Chinese players use black rubbers on their forehand side.

Great game! Gardos really struggled with Timo's serves. To be fair even the best like FZD respect Timo's tight and dangerous serves. I feel like the only thing Gardos could have done better was not throw away shots that weren't there. It's the same thing Hugo suffers from. You don't have to kill every shot. The higher level players return better so many balls are just too low to kill and you have to allow the rally to continue by adding a little more arc in the shots and taking it to a longer rally. Also, Timo punished the longer serves because he's left handed and it's more convenient to receive. Great game!
How aggressive can one be and still safe especially when you know everything is coming back!
@@Ragameiste yeah it's a balance that is absolutely necessary on the top levels. You just have to trade power for spin which is still effective and choose your kill shots. The problem is players like Gardos play lesser opponents most of the year and get a lot more kill shots and then when it's time to play people like Timo they panic and try to kill everything or their legs freeze like Kanak and they don't play their game lol it's hard to solve for but Chinese players are better for a reason, they are always surrounded by extremely dangerous players lol.
@@FilmonGEMZ agree, hence money cannot but ecosystem. It takes time to build it, people like kanak are the first stones towards this endeavor.

@@yayansmartfren2835 Falck lost to Gardos, Karlsson lost to Boll, Gauzy was upset by chopper Wang Yang. Dimitrij Ovtcharov decided not to play because he had a fever. Jorgic beat Pucar in the semi final to reach the final. hope this helps.
