- BMW E92 LCI Tail Light RetroFit Upgrade: No Coding Needed
This a quick install of the LCI tail lights to a pre LCI e92 coupe. These are an aftermarket version that are fitted with load resistors, so there is no need for any coding to get these working on the early models.
They are an awesome cosmetic upgrade and really help modernise the early E92s.
These specific ones are the smoked version, they are available from Italy on ebay here: ebay.to/2HfZqdA (been discontinued unfortunately)
However if you are chasing the OEM LCI look this is the one to go for:

Hey. Nice video man. Btw where did you get them..?
Bizarrely we could only find the smoked ones from Italy. These are the ones we purchased. ebay.to/2HfZqdA I'll add some links to the description to the non smoked ones, if anyone chasing the full OEM LCI look.
@@ZeroTo60Tube why is that bizarre? Smoked lenses aren't legal, so the fact you had to order them from another country makes perfect sense.
I really prefer the pre LCI tail lights more, but nonetheless they still look great!
I agree not long bought an e92 my self and thought about changing the lights to LCI.. after watching this I’m gonna stick with the standard one’s for sure
@@kanebrewer1966 cuz it’s cheaper
@@BmwMe-uh9sy I mean that’s a plus for sure, but do genuinely prefer the pre lci
I like the pre lci lights better they have a more defined 3 line led light.
Everyones got their own taste thats for sure.
I agree man, but only at night they look definitely nicer. But through the daylight the LCIs look so much better. Also I suppose the rear fogs of the LCIs are stronger?
@@30isurfer both use same sealed bulb
@@Brian-jv8iy i noticed they’re not as crazy-strong like f30 lci
@@30isurferLCI at night look waaaay better
Those new lights look so beautiful.
I did this mod. But only when my old style lights LED was on their last legs managed to get 126k miles out of the old ones....
Kept waiting till i got the ones off a 2013 e92.
I dont use day time running lights i want those to last longer.
My car is still running the stock xenons :) for last 10years
It’s crazy how long Xenons last compared to the old halogens!
@@ZeroTo60Tube
I see too many people with 1 blown xenons in e92, i dont see a point driving with xenons turned on, in a hot sunny day.
Those rear lights turned on, everyday with day time running light. Is a expensive repair.
Those merc e class are the worse they blow out after 2 years.
@@QuattroBajeena i agree, i modded the DRL in my golf because of that.. im thinking to my self... why are my lights on in the middle of a hot sunny day!? lol
@@vdubskiee5356 im glad my car doesnt have the auto light switch. I used to feel gutted i didnt have it but now i am soo glad i dont. It make me focus on pressing it whenever i need to.
My work sprinter vans all have auto lights. Its soo annoying the headlight will come on a 10 second tunnel. Theres no off mode lol.
I think the old ones look better especially on the e93 imo. This 3D style and LED is a little tacky and does not suit the overall look of the car (imo) 🤔 Great cars and video gents
I definitely see where you are coming from. The pre LCI lights definitely have a stable part in my mind of what the E92s should look like. I seem to always have related the LCI tail lights with the M3 for some reason. I really like the updated look, but i'm going to go for the standard non tinted lens, these particular ones were darker than standard, but that is the theme the owner is going for with his car.
I agree pre lci looks better my bro got e93 335i and he got pre lci lights
@@kinetickhaos6144 you guys are both on drugs. Lci tails all day
@@kevincercie3544 that may be your opinion but I like pre lci e93
@@kinetickhaos6144 I feel you. I think 99% of us like Lci tails tho. I get butterflies when I look at mine lmao
I really like the look of the lci lights but i personally think the old ones looks more like an ”335i”. I dont know yet what i want for my 335. Nice and clean video!
It's funny you should say that. I always related the LCI tail lights to M3s for some reason. Which has always been a special car to me, maybe thats why i want the look for my 335i. On the same note i'm also the muppet running fake m4 wheels...... :|
I feel bad for e90 owners 😂 I wanted my bro to get LCI but they’re fucked they have to make the trunk and tailight upgrade, another coupe W
ANOTHER GREAT VLOG!!!💯
Help, Just installed LCI sequential tail lights on my E92 M3 and the driver side turn signal does not display in sequential pattern. Only the passenger side Sequential pattern turn signal functions. Any idea why the driver side sequential pattern does not work? It only displays a solid turn signal light.
Make sure you get your self checked in for COVID19, thanks for the video
if you ever do a tail light upgrade on the e93 ill be copying you!
Do you need to change the third brake light as well? Or can you leave the old ones
Well done bro thanks
I couldnt help notice that the inside of your trunk lid and the channeling that the trunk lid covers when closed is "gloss" black. It should be matte base coat (or matte black). Were those parts of the car repainted?
probabaly.... the car is quite old.
if i purchased a used set of tail lights (from a part out car, used, etc) would it be a very difficult process? I know i’d have to code a few things in and get a new harness, but would that work? Thanks
i think that would be possible. But not 100%
Did anyone have fitment issues on the outer lights? It feels like there is always a gap when adjusting the nuts
I am Italian but the product is no longer available. Do you have any other information about this in your contacts? Thanks a lot, bye.
Sorry, no
🏆🏆
I need your help!! I just got my lci taillights , do I need to change my 3rd brake light as well?
Genuine lci tail lights require a lot more work. These aftermarket ones are plug and play.
@@ZeroTo60Tube wow that’s cool I never knew this! So do you have to code the lights if they’re aftermarket ? I have DIPO lci taillights I’m trying to install I’m just not sure if I need to code them
I need the same for mine E92 where can i find them?Socrates from Greece.
Hi There, Unfortunately the smoked ones are no longer available. These are from australia, but i think even with shipping to greece will be the cheapest option. ebay.us/Op5IlU
Hey man if you are in the usa, you can get them from ecs tuning
What kind of rims you have and measures ?
This is a mates car, unfortunately i don't know the full specs. But they are cheap-ish aftermarket 20's.
wow...nice! do i need to install the black boxes that are attached from the tail light? what are they again?
Isn’t there a way of doing this without putting all those small black boxes in the trunk?
You can re-code the car to not show the blown bulb errors. But i think its easier just to tuck the load resistors in the back and not mess with the cars coding.
Apparently you need an FM3 which is about 600 dollars.. I would rather go to a tuning shop and pay them an hour worth of labour to code it out for around $100... or just code it yourself
Do they actually look much better?
Well if you are not sure, just try and check out an LCI coupe, but these have the tinted finish. I think they are much better. Especially at night time.
I think the old ones look better at night and horrible on daylight, while the LCIs are exactly the opposite 😂. The LCIs are not bad at night but they look like just another f30 or so. The old ones have those sexy three stripes very detailed.
What happens if you dont code them?
whats the background song?
Cant find them
Can the e93 335i be installed?
I believe the e92 are different lights to the e93
I bought these taillights but now I’m getting water into my trunk
Definitely make sure all the seals are properly seated against clean surface on the car. The foam gaskets/seals aftermakrt lights use are always a bit dodge compared to the genuine ones.
Does anyone have the pinout for us who dont have conversion kit ?
Finde VfL irgendwie passender
What year e92 is that ?
Im sorry it was so long ago, i cant remember what year this one was.
Anyone know if you can use e92 tails on e93 335i?
nop E93 it's different
Where can i buy the lci resistor?
I dont think you can buy these separately, they only come in a kit with the lights. However you may be able to work it out using normal load resistors. A lot of auto shops stock them now for LED bulb conversions.
You can disable it with some coding
