I remember Jesus saying, marriage is between one male and one female (Matt. 19:4,5), confirming what Genesis says. So, it doesn't matter what some wacko judge says. God invented marriage, and only He has the right to define what it is.

Mat 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY.

I am in the process of studying the topic of marriage, divorce and remmariage for myself.. I started with prayer and a 100% genuine thirst and willingness to be obedient to God regardless of my own wants.. I prayed for Godly wisdom to discern his word.. I was led to get a King James version, A Hebrew/ Greek dictionary and concordance. I also started studying old testament laws and practices regarding marriage. All I will say at this point is that a lit of the translated words in the bible for divorce, putting away , bill of divorcement, and fornication is missed interpreted in our standard understanding of the actual definition of these words compared to Hebrew and Greek definitions. Plese study and you will be surprised by what you learn and how God truly views things. My tip for studying.. Look at history, read previous versus then the ones right after. Ask yourself who, what , where and when and why.

@@ronpolson6981 Hi Ron.. It went very well.. I learned a lot . Studying with a Greek/Hebrew dictionary and concordance has completely changed how I read and enriched my life.. Some of the things that seemed to contradict itself in our modern day translations now makes more sense and actually does not contradict itself in the original text. The issue I now see is that some words can be mis translated due to interpretation. I don't think it was done purposefully.. I speak some Italian some Spanish and a tiny bit of German. If you translate other languages into English some if the original wording gets translated differently especially in formal speech. This unfortunately can take away from the intended true meaning of something. The best advice I can give anyone is seek God for wisdom and study.

The best thing anyone can do is to understand what God started with which was one man, one woman, as one-flesh for life. After God saw that the world was so corrupted and that there was only one man and his sons who were upright in their generations from Adam he started over with four couples which consisted of four men and each of their wives. There was no polygamy, no divorce, and no remarriage.

Scripture clearly teaches anyone who divorces and remarries while their covenant spouse is still living (with the exception of fornication) is an adulterer or adulteress (Matthew 5:31-32; Matthew 19:3-9; Mark 10:2-12; Luke 16:18; Romans 7:2-3; 1 Corinthians 7:10-15; 1 Corinthians 7:39).
Additionally, scripture clearly teaches in order to receive God's mercy one must repent or they won't inherit the kingdom of Heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Luke 13:3).
God saves anyone who genuinely repents. Repentance has two elements: Confessing AND forsaking our sins.
Proverbs 28:13, says: "He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses AND forsakes them will have mercy."
Remaining in an adulterous remarriage is not repentance.
The liar has to repent and stop lying; the thief has to repent and stop stealing; the homosexuals have to repent and stop committing homosexual acts; and the adulterers and adulteresses (including those in adulterous remarriages) must repent and stop committing adultery.
Sharing the scriptural truth about divorce and remarriage infuriates people who are supposed to be followers of Christ. Jesus's words regarding this issue anger his alleged followers like no other topic. Perhaps, it's time to obey Jesus Christ, and to begin believing He means what He says.
Most importantly, ALL sins are unforgivable without repentance...including remaining in adulterous remarriages. According to the clear, easy to understand words of scripture: Jesus most definitely sends unrepentant adulterers and adulteresses to hell.

Fornication during betrothal (engagement) according to what the Jews were following in Deuteronomy 22:13-21. Covenant wives who have become one-flesh with their husbands cannot commit fornication only adultery. The Gospel of Matthew was written to the Jews who understood that fornication was premarital sex.

Randy Nethery yeah if only He actually said that, like laid it out plain, except He didn’t. It’s almost like this whole doctrine is made up by modern day Pharisees. It’s almost like God has grace enough to accept people where they are at and lead them to Truth by Himself. It’s almost like it’s God’s job to convict sinners not yours. Funny how that seems to be the case.

      Christ Redeemed Us
      (Deuteronomy 21:22-23)
10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
      The Purpose of the Law
      (Romans 7:1-6)
15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. 16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. 20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster (Galatians 3:10-25)
21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. 29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free (Galatians 4:21-31).
      Freedom in Christ
1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? 8This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 11And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. 12I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another (Galatians 5:1-15).

Whosoever shall put away his wife except it be for formication, the question is what kind of wife fornicate . The answer is is an espoused wife. Or engaged wife . When you are engaged you are still single. So when an espoused wife cheats she commits formication. She still single not married yet . Joseph and Mary was espoused to each other she still was a virgin. The angel Gabriel told Joseph not to put her away.

It includes all kinds of things like incest, and beastiality. The problem is the verse or Jesus’ teaching, it’s people trying to make a Greek word have a more limited English meaning.

If the men insist in having an affair and leaves, would this be cause for divorce and can the women remarried?

    • @renyeah7106
      @renyeah7106 5 років тому +7

Basically God doesnt like divorce or ( putting away ) since from the beginning man and woman are to become one flesh till death and cling to one another. But if you do seperate you can't remarry. You are to remain single and if possible later reconclie. If that can't be the case then staying single and working on your relationship with God is the only way . The only way the mariage is seen as officially over in God's eyes is if one becomes a widow / their spouse dies. Then you are free to marry again in the Lord. If someone remarries while their first spouse is still alive then they are an adulterer and whoever marries them are one too. And for example, if a man/woman who has never been married before , marries a person who has been divorced and their first spouse is alive, that marriage is not valid and is adultereous in Gods eyes because the divorced person is still one flesh with their first spouse. Hope this helps .

It’s not worth it anymore too many are too sinful. It’s not worth the risk. However a broken covenant is broken and if he’s committed sexual immorality you’re free according to Jesus.

No where does Jesus imply that if you found out that your wife had sexual relations with another man before marriage that this gives rights for divorce. Many have sex before marriage especially non-Christians and yes some Christians have fallen into this as well and must repent. But to say now we can divorce because we found out our spouse was sexually active and in an immoral lifestyle before marriage is unfounded and unscriptural. However during your betrothed/engagement period you found out after marriage there was hanky panky going on, then yes you can divorce.

First Law Of A Good Christian Marriage:
"If no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death."
    Deuteronomy 22:20

  • @earnestlycontendingforthef5332

Jesus in fact said very little about not divorcing each other and forbidden adulterous remarriages.
But what he does say is too much for most passion hungry humans to accept and bear.
"2 Some Pharisees came to test him. They asked, “Can a husband divorce his wife?”
3 Jesus answered them, “What command did Moses give you?”
4 They said, “Moses allowed a man to give his wife a written notice to divorce her.”
5 Jesus said to them, “He wrote this command for you **because you're heartless**.
6 But God made them male and female in the beginning, at creation.
7 That's why a man will leave his father and mother and will remain united with his wife,
8 and the two will be one. So they are no longer two but one.
9 Therefore, don't let anyone separate what God has joined together.”
10 When they were in a house, **the disciples** asked him about this.
11 He answered them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman **is committing adultery.
12 If a wife divorces her husband and **marries another man, she is **committing adultery.”
    Mark 10:2-12 (GW)
Accept the above and teach it, and you be a very wise and contented follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Malachi for Hushands putting away their wife's, this was after Deut.24, and when Jesus was walking on the Earth, and spoke this in Matthew, the old law was still in place. If this is the first time you and the woman you married have ever been married, then you are in a covenant marriage. As such you are not to divorce your wife if she is pleased to live with you (1 Cor 7:12). If she does leave you, you cannot remarry for as long as she is alive because only death can break a covenant marriage (1 Cor 7:39 & Rom 7:2-3). If you did remarry while she is still alive, you would be committing adultery (Mark 10:11-12 & Luke 16:18). Also, as Christians we did not follow the Mosaic law of the Old Testament. We follow the law of Christ (Hebrews chapters 7-8). I hope this helps.

Some are saying that fornication ("porneia" in greek) only applies to the unmarried, and that Jesus (Mat 5:32) was talking to those yet to be married. Here is why that is not true.
The word for porneia in it's meaning (greek, as our new testament is translated) does not imply (a single, one, not married, or the like). Porneia covers homosexual, heterosexual, beastiality, incest, adultery, pedophilia, it is a generic word used for sexual misconduct. In Rev 2:20-22 Adultery falls under the category of sexual immorality "porneia". In 1 Cor 5:1 there is adultery but the bible uses "porneia". Just because adultery has it's own Greek definition does not mean it can't be included under fornication "porneia". That's like saying lust has it's own Greek definition but can't fall under the category of sin.

I love pastor Greg and most of his teaching in scripture and how it relates to our post modern lives. However, his "TEACHING" on divorce and remarriage in the church, opens the door for married persons to divorce and remarry for almost any cause. Which is causing great damage to the church and society today! (Many Pastors today teach this doctrine). In the KJV of the Bible fornication is used, not sexual immorality. Matthew 19:9 & 5:32, clearly say for fornication. In the case with Joseph and Mary, his betrothed wife, Joseph was permitted to put his wife away under Jewish law, because she was found to be with child during the betrothal period, (for fornication). Also in Genesis 19, Lot proposed to give his virgin daughters to the men of Sodom so they would not take the Angels of the Lord. However his daughters were said to have husbands, (Genesis 19:4 Lots sons in law) because they were still in the betrothal period. Because churches teach Gods grace covers all sin, including divorce and remarriage, divorce is rampant in the church today. I believe this is a great sin before God and is hindering much of the work of the gospel. Families are so broken today from divorce and remarriage, where terrible abuse and neglect are taking place! Blended families have a much higher case of domestic violence, drug abuse, child neglect than intact one man one woman for life families. Most children never get over their parents divorce and remarriage and go on themselves to commit the same behaviors. And greater numbers are choosing not to marry but to live together. John the Baptist lost his head over condemning King Herod's remarriage to his bothers wife Herodius, even thought not believers in Christ was clearly wrong before God. I also believe the confusion with gender today comes out of the confusion that comes from rampant divorce and remarriage. Just my thoughts.

What would happen to one’s interpretation if everything Jesus said is taken literally?
It would eliminate the false supposition of “indissoluble marriage.” It would eliminate the supposed conflict between Jesus and Moses. It would simply mean that Jesus revealed to His covenant people that they had for hundreds of years been committing adultery by supplanting one spouse for another. It would mean that Jesus gave them a reason to stay married. It would mean there is no difference in the outcome of divorce from one Testament to the other.
It would mean that “divorce” means divorce. It would mean that divorce terminated the marriage. It would mean the divorce was real. It would mean that the theory of “indissoluble marriage” is false. It would mean that a divorced woman WAS NOT “still married to her first husband.” It would mean that all the suppositions based on “indissoluble marriage” are false. Particularly the “divorce to repent” supposition.
It would mean that “marry another” (Matthew 19) means marry another. It would mean remarriage is a marriage. It would mean remarriage was real. It would mean there is no difference in the outcome of remarriage from Old Testament to New.
It would mean that all those who advocates “divorce to repent” are guilty of causing the dissolution of families. It would mean that all who divorced their second spouse out of fear transgressed another marriage. It would mean transgression were multiplied. It would mean wives and husbands abdicated their role in their home. It would mean that families were destroyed from false teaching.

NO. Divorcing the "2nd spouse" would Not be Divorce it would be repentence. Not considerd a marriage at all,but sin.

@grant2149 So Jesus's exception clause bears no weight? Adultery does NOT sever the marriage bond/contract? Interesting, something the Bible calls a disputable matter.

@@nickwadson5731 Adultery does NOt severe the covenent at all. Wake up. Except it be fornication NOT adultery. 2 diffrent meanings a 2nd marriage is continous sin. Except if spouse died. No where in NT is remarry except it be death.
