Happy birthday Leroy - and thanks for being a inspiration as well as a blessing not only to the folks in Ashland but to those of us who came to know you via the Virtual Railfan channel. ❤🎉❤🎉
Happy Birthday Leroy! "Air Forced One" was a hoot, and it was neat to watch it work--I wish I had a snow-blower like that! Glad the eagle got a bite; it's hard to make a living in this weather. The gate-runners---I shouldn't laugh, but I did. And since our beautiful and historic D&RGW station in Salt Lake City was damaged by an earthquake and will probably have to be demolished, it made my heart happy to see a Rio Grande loco still out there getting the job done. This one was terrific--full of super-cool stuff, and another gorgeous ending!
Good grief...that one "Darwin Candidate" should be ashamed taking his dog over the tracks! Happy Birthday to LeRoy, the crossing guard! And the rest of the video is absolutely fantastic! Thank you for sharing!! 🚅😊❤👍👌
Wow! Great catching all the trains, especially the UP1989 in Chehalis, Washington, people crossing the gates down railroad crossing and getting caught by police in Flagstaff, Arizona, and more, @Virtual Railfan, thank you.
We all agree about the guy with the dog. As for 50 feet, if that person tripped or slipped, a locomotive doing 55, is about 73 feet long and 16 feet tall, and will do about 1 and a half its length in 1 second. For that person who slipped or tripped, I am sure the sound would be cut and the person being hit, pixelated so you don't see if placed at all ever. your chances are yours to take, the end results are yours to have.
Thanks for another great video! I appreciate you pointing out the different rail company markings, especially the more obscure or faded ones. Happy (now belated) Birthday, Leroy! 🎉
It was more than 30 years ago that the company I worked for bought a couple of box cars from Conrail. To get them, we took our lowboy trailer into Frontier Yard, along with our mobile crane. On the tracks nearby was a bunch of stored equipment, including a jet engine mounted at an angle so the exhaust blast could clear snow from the switches. I still have the pictures, somewhere.

Walking in front of a moving train is foolish, especially at night. It is harder to judge speed at night. Walking between railcars with your dog? That man is kucky that train did not start moving. A H3 GP30, Lots of Heritage units, classic railroad freight cars, a Herzog train, and a special birthday for a great man. 75 years and still going. Side-by-side train meets and Amtrak inspection car. Great variety as always, VRF! TY.
I saw a Winchester and Western hopper on the bowline on thursday. It was much more rusted than the one on here but the lettering was still quite legible.
Happy birthday, Leroy! Thanks for all you do. Question for VRF--when a car or engine goes by that's from a historical railroad or with a retired logo, sometimes there's a photo shown of what that car looked like when it was new. Is that photo of an actual train car or a model one? Edited to add: like the Sargento Cheese car at 4:40
I live a few blocks from the CN Chicago to Canada main. We get meets here, especially when the Blue Water comes through. I never ever even approach the tracks until the gates are all the way up.
Did not see anything in the Flag Police blotter about those crossing the tracks. Rest assured they got a stern warning and I'm sure they were told about the young woman who was killed doing the same dangerous thing they were!
Some nice catches again tonight, thank you VRF, especially BNSF SD70MAC 9407 and I wish NS would give Heritage loco 'Illinois Terminal', a clean. Whilst Gate-running (Darwinism) is a serious problem and issue, I would have laughed if one of the two at Flagstaff had been driving the Estate-car that hit a tree recently.
Just curious about the old box and grain cars from places like coops, do they have to be inspected before UP or BNSF or CSX will permit them on their rails? Seems like, esp the grain coops, those cars sit idle for months before use.
The number of Darwins never ceases to amaze me, especially when you consider that 99.999% of crossings DON'T have cameras like these, yet we see them daily. And why feel the need to cross right in front of an Amtrak train? They take 10 seconds to pass! We've apparently made it too easy for dummies to survive; now they're actually lowering the bar below grade.
Here's a question for VRF Administrator or operator. Yove installed camera locations in all 5 surroundings state's of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky, but NONE in West Virginia. A state thats contributed a heck of a lot to Railroading and building of this nation through Coal and Timber. Why hasn't a camera location been found here?? There are many good locations.
@@Rob-tr1st can't read and understand simple English, huh?? Obviously, you're NOT an administrator or owner...so why did you feel the need to respond?? Oblivious??
After seeing the very blessed Darwins I just started crying for the two families that didn't make it ,gate runners they were , 2 died , 3 seriously injured. Please people nothing is worth dying for at a train crossing. down by Melbourne Florida.
@@jamesghiorzoe107I KNOW THAT , they were impatient dumasses, that's why the city is asking the FEC rail road to put down 2 more gates so people cant drive around, if you read my comment you'd see that I said they were gate runners, why does every one think they have to correct what I said they were both at Melbourne same crossing.
I love seeing Fallen Flags freight cars I used to see a D&H hopper car running around Whats with the blue NS locos? ex- Pan Ams? also with the ex-BNSFs in KCS? Oh I want that Sargento boxcar in HO! Heard that was painted out cause of some dispute?
Yeah, that guy at Revelstoke- did he even look to see if a train was coming on the other track? With the noise of the train idling and the bells of the crossing…These crazy risks seem to happen at the same places.
😊As far as Flagstaff goes, Google is showing multiple recent incidents and deaths between trains and motorists / pedestrians there. If the officer that stopped the gate runners was current with his role call sessions he would have been right to cite the two. A pedestrian was struck by a train there just 3 days after Christmas.
See kids! Drinking and walking with your g/f against the crossing will get you with the law! Plus anyone pushing a bicycle, in the snow without bike gear on, and along active railway, highly has no drivers license nor common sense!

@@usmale49 Absolutely, he should never be allowed to own a dog...
