    My husband died in 2007 of cancer. I got a call from the surgeon - insurance had denied the claim - out of network. This doctor had filed many other claims - no problem. So I called the insurer and asked what was up - this doctor was still listed on their site as in network. At first they wouldn't talk to me - need to talk to your husband. He's dead lady and you have stuck me with a 50K bill from this doctor. She did finally agree to tell me that the doctor office had filed under the group practice name instead of the doctor name. It was a mistake at the doctor office. I called and had them refile. Crazy how you have to watch your back every second - medical mistakes, pharmacy mistakes, insurer mistakes - need a lawyer to advocate unless you are into chaos.

      You might have to ask for the discount/price cut. A lot of dealers still put a 'market adjustment' fee on the price to see if customers are willing to pay it, but if you baulk they'll drop it.

      My 2005 Highlander has 214,000 miles on it. I take great care of it because the cars now all have problems. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned and plan on keeping it as long as it runs. I looked at some newer cars and was NOT impressed with any of them. Too much technology and harder to diagnose and fix.

Every mechanic I take it into for regular oil changes or other maintenance are shocked when they see the mileage on it. I was working as a fleet mechanic for the So Cal Gas Company when Lee Iacocca made that awful deal with the US government for a 1.5 billion loan. The price on all products and parts for: Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler parts nearly doubled overnight. The "J" and "K" cars were a nightmare to buy parts for, repair and keep on the road operating after repairs. Their entire product line was FIAT quality == Fix It Again Tony. There are no classic "J" or "K" cars around to collect or drive out of love for the Chrysler name brand. Remember that Dan.

He got it at over 100,00 miles. It would definitely be a big help if i could get some options? Thank you 😊

    i've never paid more than $2000 for a car and considering my age and level of activity, probably never will, either.I 've owned nothing but Chrysler-Dodge minivan 6 cylinders for almost 20 years now. The great majority of them I paid less than $1000 for. I typically drive them for 5-6 years, never spend more than $300 per year on repairs, and when something serious goes wrong with them, I sell the minivan to a junkyard for $300 and get another one. I"ve had 1 of them, cause i was stuipd enough to buy one of them sitting in the grass, where the transmission leak was not detetable and cause I wrecked one of them. That's excellent service/return on my money. I'd have to have 10 million in the bank before I'd even consider buying a $5000 used van and I'd NEVER buy a new one. I dont see why anyone would. just throw away 50k like that? by the time you pay the interest, the full coverage insurance, that's what a 30k car costs you! Not to mention the opportunity cost of other things you could have bought with that money

There was a famous story of some car made in Canada years ago that sold for more in Canada than Hawaii. That says it all. Another example SIM cards. I remember years ago having to pay $25 for these Canadian "high tech" items, that are free with sign up in most countries. If you ever travel around Asia, you'll see items like windshield wipers, tools, spray paints selling at 10 to 20% of the Canadian retail. I never see the point in selling goods for less than they costed u to buy or build? Makes no sense. When people are unable to make their mortgage payments they try and sell, but as soon as their sale price goes below their equity they walk away. There is zero incentive in selling and walking away with $0000. That’s why we see very little price reductions in real estate or on car lots, they’d rather see the homes and cars rot( or burn) than give them away. Ain’t happening.

    • @IAllegedly
      @IAllegedly  14 днів тому

      If a company is in desperate need of cash and a contemplating bankruptcy, then price reductions seem like a logical step. Now, you have massive amounts of inventory that are not moving and you have new inventory that’s going to be delivered to the dealerships in the coming weeks. What you do next just drop the price.

    • @silver-en7kl
      @silver-en7kl 14 днів тому

      @ it’s just kicking the can down the road to sell for a loss, eventually bankruptcy is the final outcome. I watched my parents lose our home. As soon as they couldn’t sell for more than they owed on it, they went bankrupt. Why would anyone sell for a loss and then still make payments to a bank for a house u no longer live in? There was no great deal on my parents home after they went bankrupt. The bank simply takes it back and sits on it until they can list it for a profit. If they can’t make money, they let it rot, they will not give deals and lose money.

    Dan's surgical problem explained - and darn it, read your coverage.
    The following is the rest of the story.
    1. Dan used the term "emergency room". He went to an emergency room in CA. An "emergency room" is a special hospital. A hospital with an "emergency room:" must treat anyone who walks in, regardless of insurance. If the person cannot pay, the state will pay for the emergency room treatment.
    If you are enrolled in an HMO that has a hospital with an "emergency room:", you may have to pay a co-payment or a deductible in connection with the treatment.
    2. Dan used the expression "network". This is another reason why you read your medical coverage, darn it. He did not have medical insurance coverage from an insurance company. He was a member of an HMO. An HMO is regulated, but not an insurance company. In CA, it is regulated by the Department of Corporations. The federal regulations are that if you are a member of an HMO, you must be assigned to a medical group within say 25 miles of your home. YOUR HMO agreement provides that if you need treatment, you must contact that group. If you have an emergency and go to an emergency room, you must contract the HMO and they can move you for further treatment to another facility. You are not allowed to just see any doctor or go to any hospital that you want.
    Hey Dan, I have a HMO for medical benefits. My girlfriend has a different HMO. Read the back of your medical card. There is express writing about communication with the HMO if you go to an emergency room in a non-covered facility. The covered facility will immediately tell the HMO you are there. The non-covered facility may not call. The doctor or group to which youare assigned will review and determine whether you can/should be moved and direct your care.
    So, this is how an HMO works. Actual situation. A woman belongs to an HMO. She gets pregnant. The HMO has a group to which she is assigned. She wants a doctor not in the plan and understands that she will not be covered. She has complications and doesn't go to the nearest emergency room, she goes to a hospital where her non plan doctor has privileges. Her card says that she has to notify the HMO and the doctor to who she is assigned determines whether she can be moved to a covered facility and he is not asked. No coverage.
    Read your medical benefits contract. Understand whether you are enrolled in an HMO, a PPO or other program. It affects your benefits, deductible, co-payment, pharmacy benefits, non pharmacy benefits. I think under federal law, you are supposed to be enrolled in some form of health care coverage and for those who aren't and watch television, there are phone numbers given of who to call to get enrolled in health care with a zero premium.
