The Conservatives have been in power for THIRTEEN years and have still not reduced net immigration. In fact, it has increased to 745,000 per year despite repeated promises and even more lies plus Brexit "taking back control of our borders"😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jan 2010, David Cameron said net migration of over 200,000 was too much and promised to reduce net migration to "tens of thousands. A net figure of over one million legally migrated here in the last two years.
A net figure of over one million legally migrated here in the last two years.
    In 2022, a net figure of 745,000 migrated here. 2021: 488,000.
The Conservatives are in their FOURTEENTH year in power and are still blaming everyone else but themselves.

Unfortunately Mr Ferrari, we do train people, in this country, to a wonderful standard. To an extent that they are lured overseas by better pay and living/working conditions. All of this is because the conditions & salary in this country are so poor. When the highest earning people in a country are the chief executives, bankers and landlords, the genuinely skilled workers are going to get fed up with their comparative wages and lifestyle. Especially when it's been shown that "trickle down" economics is such a con.

Can also have to do that under last 13 years of Tories, school and hospitals have started to collapse, that £350 mil per week to NHS did not happen.
Training people, is this a joke, European countries trained more border agency and customs workers pre Brexit, UK had no training at all, UK needed 50 000 more people on border and ZERO was trained, UK was assuming that EU members would do the work for Brits ? Customs workers in Belgium, Netherlands or France do not care whats shipped out from EU to UK, it's not their job to check that, just as border agency job is not to prevent people leaving.

We used to train apprentices, but Thatcher introduced 715’s in the early 80’s so building companies encouraged their staff to go self employed, so no time or inclination to take on apprentices, look at the Harry Enfield character’Loadsamoney’, also Thatcher closed down the Government Training Centres, so when a Tory Cabinet Minister states ‘We will train apprentices’ they have only their selves to blame

Also, in 1980, the then tory Government brought in modular training so that companies only had to teach apprentices the skills they needed them to be able to do. Because of that a lot of skills were lost and that is why we can't train people here Nick, because the people who had the skills didn't get to pass them on so that companies could save money on training.

1:45 None of the Thai or Filipinos or other East Asian people I work with (or even the Indians and Pakistani doctors/nurses) have used housing benefits. They’re not allowed public funds until they get citizenship and they have strong cultural taboo about being “unaccomplished” so they always have jobs (hence not reliant on government funds). They need houses for sure but they pay it from their salary. All this time, I thought they help support the economy because they are part of the workforce and the spending population.

@careytitan9097 you must be joking, right?
The NHS relies heavily on foreign-trained healthcare workers to fill vacancies and ensure that patients receive the care they need.
      -------‐-----------
      Why???
The UK has a long-standing shortage of UK-trained healthcare professionals. This is due to a number of factors, including:
*A lack of capacity in UK medical schools and nursing schools to train enough students.
*A decline in the number of students who are choosing to study healthcare professions.
*A brain drain of healthcare professionals who have left the UK to work in other countries where they can earn higher salaries and have better working conditions.
      --------
      Increased demand for healthcare services:
The UK's population is ageing and the demand for healthcare services is growing. This is putting additional strain on the NHS and making it more difficult to recruit and retain UK-trained staff.
Cost-effectiveness: It can be cheaper to recruit foreign-trained healthcare workers, as the UK government does not have to pay the costs of training them.
Flexibility: The NHS can recruit foreign-trained healthcare workers more quickly than it can train them domestically. This can be helpful in times of crisis or when there are specific skills shortages.
What crisis? I will let you figure that out

Even if these care home workers are only getting paid minimum wage (say 50 hours a week) then they are contributing to their employers profit of at least double that, ie they are in effect £30 per hour workers. Then we take the issue of care homes deliberately never employing enough staff, then each worker is doing on average the work of one and half workers, so then that brings the effective value of that worker up to £45 per hour. If then that employer paid their taxes properly in the UK, and most don't then, indirectly that worker had contributed enough for his wife and family to live here too. As for care homes in particular, many are set up to be tax dodges, eg Owner of capital sets up a company in a tax haven and ostensibly lends a newly set up company in the UK to buy a care home on 100% finance, then that tax haven company charges the UK company say 15% interest rates, then at the end of the tax year, on paper, thanks to the interest paid makes no declarable profit. This is financial engineering and in effect is tax evasion. This is modern capitalism at work, as idealised by the tory government in particular.
If the Tories go ahead to stop these people working here, I think that every single brexiteer should be press ganged into a care home in their spare time to do this work, since Brexit, have refused to do. After all it was them that saw these jobs as stolen.
As for nurses. It is nearly 5 years since the Tories abandoned nurse training bursaries, which of course lead to the deliberate decline in home grown nurses. This was deliberate policy.

Certainly the healthcare professionals coming to the UK today have a hard requirement to pass English exams before even applying to come here. Source, my wife is an immigrant, and some of her extended family trained to be nurses and doctors abroad before coming to the UK to work in the NHS. She tells me this was not the case with European nationals before brexit 🤷‍♂, but was and is the case when coming from countries outside of the EU.
I'm sure Anne's heart is in the right place. However she's clearly not a foreign national that has gone through training to come to work in the UK, and can't speak of how thorough it is or isn't. In the last few years I've seen a niece go through all the training to be taken on by the NHS as a doctor. I know the training she went through to be a doctor abroad, the years on the job practice and additional training she did before coming to the UK, the english tests, medical tests, in person interviews here in the UK, and the, so far, years of practicing she's done here in the NHS. Training is not a problem. Her first job was in an NHS hospital working in A&E and then moving to a cancer ward, housing was made available onsite - a block for nurses and other medical staff that was largely empty; housing isn't a problem either.
The problem is pay, and stresses of working in the NHS - which are all money based problems. Foreign nationals coming to the UK to work in the NHS will stay with the NHS for the minimum amount of time, then go and work in the private sector for more money. Isn't it ironic that the Conservatives drive to erode the NHS and privatise it piece by piece and under-fund it year after year is having a direct contribution to the rising immigration numbers that it hates so much...

Second- those who didn’t follow career routes mentioned above are already working but even if they were not, there still wouldn’t have been enough staff to cover shortfalls.
Therefore - we need people to come and support the industry shortfalls.
In relation to ‘illegal migration (which isn’t a thing) - the government are failing.
We need taxes- we need people to come here even to fund the economy- unless the richest and those complaining are prepared to pay more tax to support public services? If not then people need to get a grip and deal with it. Simple- farmers don’t even have seasonal fruit pickers, no transport truck drivers, nobody in construction …. I'm british and I work in social care and i can tell you now. I don't not want to do this job anymore !! It's hard long hours and awful pay. BAD MANAGERS. deliberately understaffed to pay for managers big salary. Now british people do not want to do this job anymore on the low pay! If you want better care you better start paying carers better or you will never seen anyone in your care home working that is actually british!

Look at they pay for most of the public service sectors. You gotta be a loser before admitting that you have to work in a public service for the rest of your life, especially nurses and teachers.
Let me tell you this story about a young nurse/midwife who took care of my wife about 8 years ago. She came back and forth to check my wife, starting at about 10 pm and said bye to us at about 4 am. I was with my wife (it was our first child) at the hospital. At about 7-8 am, I went down to a M&S in the hospital and I could not believe what I saw. That young nurse was working in M&S at 8 am!!!! You don't work that hard unless struggling with money to cover bills.

This is the reason I am planning to leave the UK.
I work in finance and am completely a higher earner. But high taxes, no services being provided. Earning too much to get any support especially with nursery fees. And the sheer cost of buying a family home is the cliff edge.
3 up 3 down terrace House in London are going for more than a million. Don't tell me to move out of London because I have to be in the office at least 4 days a week and I don't want to spend 15 hours a week commuting with a young family.
Solution: moving to other financial hubs that pay twice it thrice as much with the same living cost as the UK. Simple

Is she serious? Torture?! Have you listened to people in the UK speak? 25% of your people are unintelligible and they grew up with the language. And you as a British person should have ample experience and knowledge of proper torture, if not feel free to ask around in your former colonies.

Scrap the rules allowing companies to pay people 20% less for foreign labour. Without competitive wages the care homes will always struggle.

Im trained in health and social care with other a decade of experience.
I left almost 2 years ago becase the pay was so poor. I was on £10.30 an hour for shift work, and £10.40 night shifts.
I personally believe that cheaper Social Housing helps fuel lower wages, as those who recieve such discounted housing, are saving hundreds of pounds each month compared to full price rents or a mortgage.
Then because they dint need to work so many hours to pay the bills, they often get Universal Credit.
So the problem isnt lack of workers, its lack of pay and too generous a benifits system.

Because the UK is a sinking ship, cannot pay the amount that Brits would be satisfied. The only people trying to land in the UK are Indian (253,000), Nigerian (141,000), Chinese (89,000), Pakistani (55,000) and Ukrainian (35,000) who still want to migrate to the UK because their wages and living conditions in the UK are still better than their home country.

So sad, the amount of money nurses earn in a month in UK is what nurses earn in just a week in other countries. Even if they train nurses here, they'll all run away 🏃‍♂️ to other countries becauseof the poor salary and working conditions. The bottom line is, the government should do something about the salary of nurses. At least it will motivate people to enrol in nurses countries in the universities.

The Government is deep in debt. Caused by its constant borrowing at the expense of the Taxpayers. It always created generational debt, that babies born today are going to pay for today's debt in the future.
So, the population level needs to be such that the debts can be repaid in the future without failure. Therefore, immigration will always occur regardless of public opinion. There will always be Taxation as long as people need Government.
Slavery was never abolished. Only renamed.🎉🎉🎉🎉😮

I have worked in the health and care sector for over a decade and I can confirm, the wages never caught up with inflation and cost of living. I used to get £12 an hour in 2013 but I am now paid just about £12.50 over 10 years later. I know several organisations that only pays the minimum wage. This sectors is hard work and many families (even foreign recruits) struggle on the wage rate. I don't want to continue earning peanuts for the quality of services that I offer to my patients. Many British colleagues will never accept such wage for 12 hour long day shift to spend your day-off catching up on sleeping. These foreign workers fill the gaps left before covid 19 and they deserve respect and more IMHO. Also, they never get free housing or benefits as many would assume and are forced by the government to pay for NHS fees (health surcharge) despite paying tax and contributing via NI. This is all a government policy scam.
