I completely agree with what you wrote at the end of the video. Some people would have to live in the countries in which we live and then they might understand why we do things instead of buying them. And just like you mentioned, doing such things gives an incredible fun and enormous pleasure! Greetings to those who understand us :)
Made in Poland, Sir I twisted wrenches for 25 years, worked wire line and have driven a truck ( 18 wheeler ). I have met many different people over the years, and can tell you my observation or opinion. A vast majority of the people (80% or more) don’t have the skill, knowledge, tools or common sense to make the things you or Donn make. BUT yet they insist on telling you and others how to do the job. Or what they would do different. Pay these people no attention, don’t take to heart what they say, just know that they probably don’t have a pot to piss in or a window to pitch it out of! Also they don’t have the sense to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions printed up side down on the heel!
Yeah, man. I sound like a pussy for saying that but it makes me sad (crying smiley face :D) when someone worships "store bought" items like these are for some reason something to strive for and in principle better than something that is homemade. But I try to understand, thus expect that my point of view is understood as well. But that's not always the case. And thus the half-rant in the end of the video. :D It's very cool you took the effort to comment on that. May you have many more awesome projects in the future, dude! Thanks for watching!
Making machinary is a good hobby and a lot of fun. A lot of the time it is a lot more durable and works better than the store manufactured rubbish that they try and unload on us these days. Most machinary I buy gets pulled to bits and modified to make it work better in some way or another.
So I started the premiere earlier - have to leave home tonight. Will probably upload videos as usual in the future. This premiere thing is weird. Only good thing is the chat corner so I can chat live with you guys and girls. ;)
Be extremely proud of your self ...you got talent.....Doing something yourself is rewarding....dont talk about people who put you down ..you're using neat YOU TUBE VIDEOS..FOR NOTHING.....WE JUST WANT TO SEE YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL MILL.....GOOD JOB..THANKS FOR SHARING
I wish I could do something like that for just a day! But, I'm disabled and cannot stand for more than 15-20 minutes and that is pushing myself. You can look up the medical terms, but I know them by heart since I was an RN for over 2 decades. In my spine I have osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease and spinal stenosis. To cut down on the amount of narcotic pain relievers, I have a spinal cord stimulator implanted. I'm just telling you this so you can understand why I would love to see you work in person, with the wonderful smells of cut woods. That's why I love to watch these videos you guys make, to get my mind off of me and my pain. I try to work a little in my shop, but I sit more than I work. Great video from Estonia. May God bless you and your family.
Yep, excellent video. Super saw and good wood produced. I agree with your comments at the end. I've just "wasted time" building a super log splitter out of an old hay baler, and a powerful wood chunker/chomper out of a 7.5 tonne lorry axle. Now my firewood is done in a quarter of the time. You are an inspiration to a lot of people. Well done. Regards. Ian. (In Scotland)
Hell, I love in a small city where a lumber yard is much easier to get to but I’d much rather do this kind of thing myself. Everything you said at the end of the video is absolutely correct. People have become complacent about where raw materials come from and the reward of doing it yourself.
Your video was one that inspired me to build my own smaller band sawmill. It took mw a few tries but eventually I did it. I am no mechanic by any means. I am retired so have time do do this. I have already cut quite a few logs. It works quite well and I impressed myself for building it. it was just a project I wanted to do to prove to myself that it can be done. YES!
You are one of the biggest inspirations I have found. I enjoy everything you wrote about, too. Nothing beats the satisfaction of building something cheaper and better than you can buy, and seeing your productivity go through the roof while your spending goes down. Keep doing what you are doing! Thank you very much.
You are most definitely one of the finest craftsmen I've ever seen. You are a Jack of all trades. And a masterful one at that. More of this world should aspire to being a fraction of the guy you are. I'm a fan forever and always!
Another added bonus is that you can take pride in the fact that you built it yourself. I've been watching your videos for a few months now. I regret not using my time and money in my earlier years to build a shop and have the equipment to fabricate different things that I have thought of over the years.
Your doing more than just passing time. You sharing your knowledge and experience to others who don't have the money to buy everything new. Sometimes we have to make due, and seeing how you did it will help the rest of us in the future. Thanks.
It's very amazing! I am Brazilian and graduated in engeneering. Unfortunately my health does not allow me so much. So I enjoy watch tubes like this one and know people like you and yours fantastics inventions. Congratulations Franklin - Brazil
Keep doing the work you’re doing..! I do a little DIY work myself because I enjoy it and save money too. This is why I enjoy watching your videos because you do a whole lot more than I can do now at 73 years.
I'm in MAINE/ USA and want to THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION OF SHOWING US HOW YOU CAME UP WITH THIS SAW MILL!! I WAS TRYING TO CONFIGURE ONE OUT OF AN OLD CAMPER FRAME UP!! IM THANKING YOU FOR SHOWING ME HOW TO FINISH IT OFF!!
In the end of this video, you say tanks for the motivation. The truth is, I say Tanks to you. Because you is great motivation to me. I'm from Brazil and love landscapes, great views, property work, lumber, milling, work to my self. I moving me to a estate in the interior of the country and gonna build my own sawmill. God bless you!
I live in the United States. Less than 5 miles from one of the largest sawmill manufacturers in the world. I still would rather build my own. Agreed with everything you said. Thanks for the motivation and good work on the mill!
I have built two bandsaw sawmills and had a foley belsaw circular mill. Sold the first band I’ll and the belsaw when I moved from NY state to Texas. Still had the sawing bug so built another bandmill. I’m like you I enjoy building with metal and wood and get a lot of satisfaction doing it myself. Keep up the good work. Malcolm
I've been watching your videos for ages now. I also enjoy making things and love to see what you do on a much bigger scale than me. You clearly have no fear of failure to hold you back and that's fantastic to see. Thank you for sharing your adventures and so many achievements over the years.
Thanks for being around this long and keeping this channel going. If there's people interested in watching the stuff I do I'll be making the videos in the future, too. The scale of projects is not important - it's the doing that is. The scale goes up by itself. ;)
That's true. It's a lot of work but better in the end. Plus, those slab end cuts make perfect fire starters. We use to go to some friend's saw mill and get some. Pine, Oak and Hickory. Lastly but not leastly, I noticed, as in all your videos, you put a lot of thought, time and energy into your work and for you, I'm sure it's rewarding and I'm sure you will continue to do so. Take care and God bless!
I am like you are and totally believe in making something out of nothing with wood or metal. I grew up on a farm and have worked for years repairing and making things. It is creative for the mind and soul ! Keep up the good work and who cares what others say anyways. Do what pleases you as that is all that matters. I live in western Canada and sure wish I had trees to cut down and mill because I would have enjoyed it my whole life.Too late for me now as my health is not as good as it used to be and I am getting too old now. Enjoying your video's and will be here watching. Thanks ! :-) Dennis
Farm life teaches one to do things that are needed using things at hand. Sorry to hear bout your health. Keep in there! Thanks for watching and hopefully you'll stick around in the future too. ;)
Great video, and awesome machine ! This what you wrote at the end of the video is 100% the same what i hear from people when i'm trying to create something in my workshop. So your answers for these complains are important for me and I completly agree with them. It's nice to know that someone has same thoughs about this. Stay creative and enjoy your work! Gretings from Poland ! 😉🇵🇱
I’m very impressed with the hard work that you enjoy. Keep doing what you love doing. My time is completely worth building a sawmill. Like your time was.
Greetings from east coast Canada, Newfoundland. Excellent video and narrations.....it's a dream of a lot of DIY'rs to follow their dream, to find their limits, build their own equipment as we do; I am one of them. To do that to completion is a challenge at best and that's how we evolve and enjoy our own little life. It's fulfilling, keeps you looking for that "little bit better thing you could do to make it work all that much better" No life if no dream! Very fine workhorse you got there, pat on the back for that!! Watching you work it is a learning experience in itself. One thing that’s even more important than recognizing your hobbies is understanding your talents Cheers my friend!
Smart boy. Continue doing what you love to do. When you get older, like myself, you'll be proud of your accomplishments. Tomorrow is a new day for another project. Start tomorrow and dont look back. 🇺🇸
A very talented, skilled, and hard working cheapskate! Enjoy your ability to do all the things you do and I hope you can still do these things for many years to come. It's frustrating when with age some of us lose our ability to physically do things that have been so satisfying for much of our lives.
Youre a master at what you do. God Bless you and im happy for you for finding the perfect set up welded and built with your own hands. Much joy watching your video I got some great ideas from this myself. I like the engineering you put in and your set up. Like I say youre a master at your art. Well done.
Nice looking strong built mill. I watched to see how straight it would cut and I was pretty impressed. Good job. I have been to Estonia a few times. It is a cool place with a lot of old beautiful buildings.
That’s awesome I’m the same way. I love fabricating my own tools n things I use around my property especially if it’s gonna save me money but bring me the satisfaction of working n peace n testing my abilities n pushing my boundaries of what I’m capable of. There is no greater satisfaction than knowing u don’t need to depend on anyone but yourself, like the saying goes “If you want something done right, do it yourself!” Awesome video bro look forward to seeing more.
I agree to that statement. But I would disagree with the "done right" part - I would change it to "done my way" since there's is no "right way", there's just different interpretations from different people. ;) But I get what you mean. Thanks for watching!
Well I’m here in australia and i reckon your a craftsman. You are skilled at what you do and i really enjoy your channel. Keep up the inventing and manufacturing. Bravo from Victoria Australia
I am very happy for you . You have done a fantastic job on the saw mill as well as the wonderfully cut lumber!! Congratulations You should be very pleased with yourself and rightfully so!!
There will always be those people who think complaining about things is the same as doing things. You just have to overlook the fact that they base their opinions on the limits of their own abilities.. We the willing have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to attempt the impossible with nothing.👍👍. Great content.
I'm the same as you, I build everything I need even If I can buy it...I have watched all of your sawmill vids and enjoyed them all...I will incorporate many of your ideas onto my own mill when the time comes...thanks VERY much friend...God bless you and yours...doug (canada)
Next summer I plan on building my own sawmill, and after watching a lot of videos and looking at pictures I feel I can pull this off. Mine will be able to cut 30inches if all goes well and I will save between $3-4k I figure. Thanks for sharing your creativity! I love your cant stops!!
Great lumber great mill and great video! I built my bandsaw mill about 4 years ago and I love having my own mill and I really enjoy milling my own lumber. I have also heard a few negative comments about building it from UA-cam trolls over the years, the funny thing is if you look at the trolls UA-cam page all of the troll people never have any videos that they have made, so I usually call them out and tell them, instead of being a jerk and being negative, they should put some time into learning how to build things and try to add some videos worthwhile to the UA-cam community rather then being a troll, they seem to never comment back. It seems to be the best way to shut them down. Any how keep up the good work! Ps I have a two part videos of how I built a power feed for my mill, I really recommend building one, it completely transformed my mill. Take care and hello from Washington state!
I know it's been some years since you made this, but do you happen to have the design for this? I've been wanting to build my own but want a solid design to work off of.
Despite the fact, that you still need bigger machines, you are definitely doing everything right!! I admire your effort and you don't need to justify yourself for the things you do...!! Keep on rocking! Your videos are always a great pleasure to watch and I really love the way you are thinkingand acting..!! Greetings from Bavaria
My grandfather and his brother bought 35 acres back in 1940s to harvest the lumber for new barn. Plus a small sawmill. The barn is still with me and isn't going anyplace soon as it's still solid. My dad had a pole barn built in 1972 and it almost fell down due to rotting lumber. I saved it by installing new posts on one side. It's not a small barn. 90' x 36' x 16'' clear height. Oh was the lumber for those new posts expensive. I live near the center of USA. We have lots of good oak, walnut and hickory around here.
Hello Don absolutely awesome saw mill build its very great seeing the capabilities , sawing capacity and the boards being felled are absolutely straight keep up the great work u do 💪
You are motivation for me. I am remodeling my apartment all by myself and seeing you doing stuff alone is conformation that I am not insane. Also it is relaxing watching your videos in the evening after long day of work with a beer.
Hahaa, nice, man! I hope you get the remodel done soon and start enjoying it and think of new projects. :D It's a sickness I'll tell ya! Once you're hooked you're not getting away. Like with motorcycles. :D
Физический труд всегда тяжёлый и заслуживает уважения. Такая мини-пилорама востребована в маленьких населённых пунктах, деревнях, где до ближайшей крупной пилорамы десятки километров.
Wow 600 people couldn't see anything they liked in your video. I'm glad I don't see the world through their eyes. Nice job on the sawmill that thing really cuts nice looking lumber.
You built what appears to be a really smooth and well cutting sawmill, however, you really put a lot of trust in wire as a log puller, trust which I would only put in a chain. It is nice to see someone actually get ahead in life and doing it by his own means. I wish only the best for you.
I loved the Excellent writing at the end, nothing spurs me on more than someone telling me I can't do something. I can see you are collecting the sawdust and zoomed into it at the end of the video, I can see a pellet mill coming in the near future...
X-LENT video Donn. What a nice bunch of lumber you milled. Loved the comments near the end of the video. Glad you did it your way, turned out fine and you have the right to be proud of your accomplishments. Sure hope you're staying with You Tube too, I won't do the instagram or facebook not that well schooled in electronics and don't want anymore confusion that I already have with what I got!!! Thanks for sharing and keep em rolling your way. I think Frank Sinatra sang the perfect song for you "I DID IT MY WAY"
Hi Donn , I have just started the other day a re-run of your episodes from day one and I am up to episode 28 . Donn , I say don't worry about the doubters , you just keep doing what you do and what you like to do mate . If you have the gear and the know how to do it go ahead mate and besides you give me something to watch when I'm bored , keep it up Donn.
Well said Donn, and good videos. Did some reading up on Estonia, man you guys have had a bad run in the past. Here is to the future of all our countries.
I completely agree with what you wrote at the end of the video.
Some people would have to live in the countries in which we live and then they might understand why we do things instead of buying them.
And just like you mentioned, doing such things gives an incredible fun and enormous pleasure!
Greetings to those who understand us :)
Aye love your channel man👍🏻

With the prices of stuff everywhere (I'm in Texas USA)...........I'd rather MAKE my equipment then pay for some of the inferior bought items!
Making machinary is a good hobby and a lot of fun. A lot of the time it is a lot more durable and works better than the store manufactured rubbish that they try and unload on us these days. Most machinary I buy gets pulled to bits and modified to make it work better in some way or another.
Dude props to you. A self reliant talented fabricator. That mill is boss. Thanks for the inspiration and stay well. God blessed you.

I don't know anything about saw milling but I am impressed with this. Minimal sawdust, maximum end product. Outstanding
I wish I could do something like that for just a day! But, I'm disabled and cannot stand for more than 15-20 minutes and that is pushing myself. You can look up the medical terms, but I know them by heart since I was an RN for over 2 decades. In my spine I have osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease and spinal stenosis. their is nothing more gratifying than making your own tools and material's to accomplish your goals, i do it all the time, keep up the good work.

Which engine did you use?
@@a.o.8834 I started with a 7 HP and then changed to an 11 HP B & S snowblower engine. Works fine.
I love the band saw - mag wheels!
Great mill and to see it working like that is very motivational. Thanks for sharing.
You are one of the biggest inspirations I have found.
I enjoy everything you wrote about, too.
Nothing beats the satisfaction of building something cheaper and better than you can buy, and seeing your productivity go through the roof while your spending goes down.

In the end of this video, you say tanks for the motivation.
The truth is, I say Tanks to you.
Because you is great motivation to me.
I'm from Brazil and love landscapes, great views, property work, lumber, milling, work to my self.

Hai realizzato una macchina migliore di molte costruite industrialmente. Complimenti al tuo genio e alla tue capacità. Massimo rispetto.
Bravissimo.
I am very happy for you . You have done a fantastic job on the saw mill as well as the wonderfully cut lumber!! Congratulations You should be very pleased with yourself and rightfully so!!
Also to bad about the bullet and the saw blade. Do you think the bullet might have been form a war?
I can't tell for sure. Can't specify the caliber it was shot from. The bullet is deformed from the saw blade.
Congratulations! You make a great job with this band saw mill!
Thanks for the great build series. Awesome job on all your machine making. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Please never stop being who you are. I really enjoy the end of your video.

Ps I have a two part videos of how I built a power feed for my mill, I really recommend building one, it completely transformed my mill. Take care and hello from Washington state!
I know it's been some years since you made this, but do you happen to have the design for this? I've been wanting to build my own but want a solid design to work off of.
Great job, go on with your work! Tanks for the video.
Great job man, i wish i had one like that, i have enough giant pines to build a new house, garage, shed, fence, and whatever i would need.
That's right!
Hello Don absolutely awesome saw mill build its very great seeing the capabilities , sawing capacity and the boards being felled are absolutely straight keep up the great work u do 💪
Gorgeous machine. Be soooo careful with all that weight and those wires that could potential snap. Your machine is incredible.
You're not a cheapskate. You're frugal and understand the relationship between time, money and enjoyment.
Apna number dijiye aapse baat karna hai
Yah machine kitne hy
Amazing sawmill, I am really impressed! Good job!

Really perfect video man!! :) Thanks for making it and uploading it. Makes me want to make one!
Cheers. Thanks for watching!
Great job. I appreciate your ambition and your creativity.
Thank you!
what a rig👍👍👍 and that landscape at the end was just perfect, beautiful look plot you got😍🇨🇦
Thx for sharing. Great work on home built saw
Hey, looks like the mill worked great. You had some really nice slabs there for table tops, especially with the live edge.
Good material for tabletops for sure, too bad I cut'em up for timber framing material. :D
Toll gebaut ! Ich mache das mit der Kreissäge ! Eckig und Rund ! (Mini Sägewerk)
Hello Estonia from Canada where we love logging! Great job!
Well said Alex ‘ most of them 600 wouldn’t know how to make a sandwich let alone a bandsaw 😄
You built what appears to be a really smooth and well cutting sawmill, however, you really put a lot of trust in wire as a log puller, trust which I would only put in a chain. It is nice to see someone actually get ahead in life and doing it by his own means. I wish only the best for you.
Love your little story at the end! Keep up the good work :)
I agree with you 100%! I wish I had land I would do the same thing! Enjoyed your video
I like your design. I built one and it works but I could never roll angle iron. Yours has so many combinations. Great!
You are awesome, I love your builds. Keep up the great work.
Станок зачетный,за ручной труд уважение,удачи в нелегком!!!.
Again -- FANTASTIC -- You inspire ME!
Cheers man. That is my goal!
Awesome sawmill! Well built!
That is fantastic! Now I want to build one!!
Good job bro!!
And kudos for not giving a damn account to no one!! Enjoy your creativity and the silence..
I still wish I could adopt you and you move to the states. I love your talent and determination. You have no limits.
Love the tires. That is a sweet running machine
Iguana
I love bandsaws. So smooth cutting.
Well said Donn, and good videos. Did some reading up on Estonia, man you guys have had a bad run in the past. Here is to the future of all our countries.
Thanks. I hope for the same thing!
VERY Well Done !! I'd love to see how that fantastic machine was put together 👍👍💚
Excellent video, the text at the end of the video was even better 👍🏻
Love the look of the mist in the background.
Keep doing what you do. You build great things. Ignore the naysayers
I'm envious, I've always wanted one of those. Thanks for sharing.
You can build one!
Love watching how you made this. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching how I made it!
Nice build. Looks like you can get some pretty hefty logs on there. I like that you built you base very stout.
Holy log Batman we have a problem. Nice set up!
Very nice. I enjoy your work effort and your approach on how to be successful. Stay safe. Hello from Maine.
You did a hell of a job on the build. Want to build one myself. You feel better about building something yourself and it works !!
