As an American who could easily answer any single one of the questions, this just hurt. I would love to be cornered for one of these shows and get on as a clip that could restore people's hope in education.
You would get your clip cut unless you do say something insanely impressive or something really dumb

The most important thing about knowing world geography and culture is just making relations with others. Personally, I feel at ease or welcomed when someone knows something about where I'm from so I can tell them more about it and we can share stories and experiences about our homes.

Yea.i don't like most of the stuff that is mandatory to learn in school and things cns be taught better but most of the stuff asked in this video should be general knowledge.
It helps you have a better view of the world, and you don't necessarily live in an echo chamber, if you can relate to or understand other people on this planet that aren't similar to you.
Current events are an important thing to understand, they also help you inform your political views.
If all you know is that people go bankrupt due to medical bills and don't know about the rest of the developed world you'd be more inclined to be fine with the system.
But if you know what exists out there you will be more inclined to make a change. That's just an example.

Imagine going on a plane for 4 hours and still being in the same country…
so I'm in Texas (biggest state on the mainland USA), my city is San Antonio so driving north east from us is Dallas which is 4 hours away. to the west of us is El Paso which is a 7 hour drive. so its nearly an 11 hour drive east to west in Texas alone. just for some imaginative help

True. But im sure the topic about movies, games, art, music, and politics come up 10 times more then any map quiz. In today's world, you have a higher chance of connecting with someone over things like these than world countries, geology and 10,000 year old politics.
Being an American who travels. I can absolutely confirm, most people here who think they know about "culture" have never left the US.
I've never been treated as well in my own country than I have at others and I don't think we give the same treatment to others that we give ourselves in this country.
Knowing and experiencing cultures are two completely different things.
Except for you know that we are literally the most diverse country on the planet and have people from every country in the world here.

The saddest part is most of this stuff we learned in elementary school, and probably a majority of those people have a college degree, we are doomed
I believe interests such as sports also helps massively in geography knowledge. Take football for example, its a sport where you watch teams from all around the world compete, allowing you to learn about basics about other countries though it. Whereas the most popular american sports, nba, nfl and mlb are all american based. I understand that having general geography skills is also useful however, from my experience my geography skills wouldnt be anywhere near as good without following football. This is just my opinion
facts whenever I think about countries in a region I think of FIFA or also like what teams play each other in qualifiers it helps me especially cus I'm also from the united states

When they held up the “ID” sign, they were asking for the State postal abbreviation, which would have been Idaho. In the US, each state has a two letter abbreviation that’s fairly common knowledge amongst Americans.

The US is so big you could think of us going to other states (which some of us do a lot) kind of like you all in Europe going to other countries within Europe. And something cool about that is with the US being the melting pot of the world, some states are almost like going to a whole new country. So many different cultures and food in the US.

I'm Indian and in school, we used to play this little game called the Atlas, in which I name a place and you name a place beginning from the last letter, then I do the same, this goes on until one lad gives up and trust me, this basically made me a God in several American Discord servers.
im an indian and i do love that game. especially when theres no teacher in class. the thing is that this is just entertainment, for every wrong answer there was surely 10-12 correct answers but they didnt put in those
