  • Once a tomboy, always a tomboy. Are jeans better than a swishy dress?

What a great time that was, my sister and I used to wear little pleated dresses, the top was calico and each year they would be let down…we wore them for years…
I was a wanderer and would walk through the bush, dangling my legs in the dams, how I loved to walk…no fear…
My mother would ask people if they had seen me, oh yes they would reply, out on the main road, singing to herself, and she is headed for town…then I would come across a. Blackberry bush and stuff them down my front for my Nan to make a blackberry pie…mind you my dad was a baker, but he didn’t make blackberry pies…

When I i was very small I loved to wear frilly dresses and what I called clicky shoes ☺️. That fondness faded rather quickly replaced by school ages. (Still forced to wear skirt, shirt, sweater for a few more years) I remember getting into a good deal of trouble for playing in the creek, mud, and even climbing trees in them as well. I do suppose this is why my mother began allowing me to pick my own clothes 😂. I can imagine you running wild, carefree with the dogs and boys ☺️🌞✨

@@MGMG-lc2fe had a giggle, I can imagine your mother thinking to herself…. what the heck she can pick her own clothes. I think with daughters we all do that at some stage.

I'm just the same. At 61 I have literally never worn a dress except once, when I was planning to apply for a job to be an air hostess. My friends fell about laughing when they saw that photo, it was so NOT me. In fact in the end I don't think I even went through with the application. Probably just as well 😂

@@francespotter7697 I can imagine your friends! I’m still hoping I’ll wear a dress, part of me wanting to be that pretty feminine girl (old woman😂!)And I’ll never be!! So we’re fellow travels along this path of pants/jeans! So practical!!😂🙏🏻❤️

I can remember putting on such a performance because my wonderful mother was taking me to meet a relative I had never seen before. The dress was pink with layers and layers of some kind of frilly things. Then to my absolute horror mum produced a cardigan that was pink with more frills and suddenly l fell to the floor my legs wouldn’t work I couldn’t walk never ever would I walk again I informed my darling mother. My grandmother arrived to mind me ( mum must have rang her) and suddenly, miraculously I could walk again. My Grandmother who I adored, looked at me and said when you grow up I hope you have twin daughters just like you. I often look back as we do and think, thank god I didn’t have twin daughters just like me. How’s that for a waffle 😆

@@karendavidson4897 I love your waffle! I can just imagine the frills!😂😂 after reading this I thank God my mum didn’t have the time to make frills on dresses! Everything had to be I guess serviceable, plain! She made most of my clothes! Thankyou for sharing!🙏🏻❤️
