Welcome to the North Korea of Europe where 1 man has been in power for 12 years and where severe repression like this
Yes j was ther
I remember NAC Breda playing against Polonia Warsaw in 2009 and was very moved when NAC supporters greeted our team with a beautiful banner acknowledging Polish soldiers under command of general Maczek who liberated the city of Breda from Germans during WW2. Since then, NAC has always been my most loved Dutch club - all best greetings from Poland to all NAC fans and all citizens of the beautiful city of Breda!
We love the polish!
Nie wiedziałem, że NAC grał kiedyś z moja kochany polonii i zrobili takie piekny hołd! Chyba oni teraz są mój ulubiony holenderski klub
Its a beautiful tradition here in the netherlands to never forget who saved us and helped us in bad times

Dutch fans can be absolutely crazy. Good vid.
They've become over the top these days with the pyros which needs to be curbed. You can still support your team passionately without fireworks which is for new year celebrations and definitely no need for them in football games.
@@aidygooner no pyro no party.
@@lillekenatnek195 I was one of those people who used to say that but this is ridiculous and outright stupid and potentially dangerous. If you can't support your team without pyros then you're amateurs in my opinion who just want some thrill seeking rather than care about the match.
@@aidygooner ''If you can't support your team without pyros then you're amateurs in my opinion who just want some thrill seeking rather than care about the match.'' Thats a very black and white simple statement in my eyes. You can love both pyro's and your team and ofc. care about the match. One doesent exclude the other.
@@lillekenatnek195 a couple of flares when the players walk onto the pitch is nice but too many flares and even worse fireworks is just OTT and unnecessary.
Terrific video Sam! Fascinating insight into European footy. These visits to Europe are top notch. Excellent!
great video, wasn't expecting this video. i am from breda and was working in a café in the city centre, and when the big mass of supporters made their way through the inner city to the club they passed my workplace. 2 of them hooligans wanted to buysome canned pilsner beers from me, told them we only have heineken draft beer. i am new to that café and had my hands full at the moment, but the 2 hooligans were really in a rush to get their beer. i told them to just wait a second, and that we are a craft beer café so no regular canned pilsner. they wanted me to pour a handfull of beers for them but the beertap's pressure was too high so it got messy and didn't work. they then wanted to get some normal 'ipa' beers instead, but they were double the price- and they didn't like that. then they walked into the staff only area where the cash register is, and started to mess with me as they were already quite drunk. it was not a intimidating kinda messing with but still annoying as hell and i then just said that i was from tilburg, just to piss them off. eventually i just gave them the couple of craft beer cans for the normal pilsner price, so they could fuck off basically.
moral of the story: drunk people are stupid- and if they happen to be a hooligan, it's even worse. not to say that i love the overall atmosphere and happening of the derby, it was quite impressive to see them marching from a distance through the beautiful historical city centre, with their torches and chants. after my shift i watched the first half of the match in a packed pub, atmosphere was great and the weather was nice- but the football was horrible, as usual, watching nac breda. that's why everybody just drinks a lot of beer, to ease the pain.
i absolutely love the atmosphere you filmed from 19:40 onwards, that's why i have somewhat of a sweetspot for nac in my heart, but when i see the reason for the game's suspension i quickly get reminded why i don't associate too much with their hooligans. they are screwing their own club, and their own city by throwing shit on the pitch after a conceded goal. the fighting between themselves just illustrates their level of intelligence.
anyway, really long comment. just got excited as a Bredanaar. have to go to the stadium and watch the game asap!
Crazy that you went to this game ahah. I'm from near Tilburg but haven't actually lived there in a while. I know how important this derby is to the people. The Dutch FA has just imposed this law where after 1 warning the game gets suspended!
The lawmakers are becoming too powerful and authoritarian which could make things more dangerous with potential protests and riots.
Yes, and it´s mainly because of Feyenooit and Ajakkes fans. Greetings from Breda.
Forgot to mention Helmond Sport and Top Oss, the semi-criminals that visit their stadiums do crazy stuff during matches and are not addressed, they can just continue without any consequences. I predict many more cancellations there in the future.
@@lillekenatnek195 don't forget FC Den Bosch too who only appear to be relevant when their animalistic fans do something crazy
@@aidygooner Bosschenaren dont run!
Great video. Aberdeen signed striker Willem Van Der Ark from Willem II in the late 80s. When we were kids, my pal and I didn't realise II was a Roman numeral 2, we thought it was the number 11, possibly because there are 11 players in a football team 😅
Haha the names of teams in the Netherlands do get confusing to be fair!!
Wasn't Jimmy Calderwood manager of Willem II at one time?
@@sycove1 I knew he had managed a couple of clubs in the Netherlands but wasn't sure if Willem II was one of them, so Googled him and you're absolutely right he managed them from 1996 to 1997
The club owes it's name to king William II (1792-1849), who felt most at home in Tilburg. His famous quote about the city:
"Here I breathe freely and feel happy"
There is a statue of him in the center of Tilburg.

Wow!!!!! You delivered the ADVENTURE Sam!!!!!
I love that style of ground, it’s a bit like Genoa/Sampdoria
Imagine a Dunfermline away goal there!
The promotion/playoff system in the Dutch Second Division is crazy complicated, so it's not impossible that these two teams play each other again in a playoff, as if there wasn't enough spice already! There's another local derby tomorrow in the Eredivisie, where Vitesse (a team I'm currently playing with in FM23) visit NEC Nijmegen
nothing complicated about it
@@Pb_. It is. You should educate yourself about it.
@@halihalo4024 I am Dutch i know all about it "you should educate yourself🤓🤡" nothing complicated about it, simple as 1,2,3
It's ridiculous how teams who are in the middle of the table are given a chance to play in the playoffs which should be for top teams. There should be a semifinal between 16th of the Eredivisie and 3rd to 5th place in the 2nd division instead of potentially awarding mediocrity.
@@aidygooner 2 years ago number 8 of the second leage beat them all and got promotion (NEC)
3:59 you pronounced Sami Hyypiä almost in perfect finnish :) Greetings from Finland and thank you for this amazing content in EVERY video!
I was secretly hoping that you would fly to the Czech Republic for the Sparta - Slavia derby. It was also a great match, a match for the first place in the Czech league, a full stadium, a 3-3 draw, the last goal was scored a minute before the end... but this derby was absolutely crazy. The fact that this is the second league... it's just a shame that the match didn't finish because of a few cups and one flare. Cups were also thrown at Slavia players at Sparta. The cups cleared normally and the game continued until the end.
Best footy channel on UA-cam! Keeping it real! The people’s game by the people!
14:34 my beautiful local team in 7th place. MVV!
Edit: MVV-Roda JC is also a derby I can recommend in the 2nd Dutch tier. This one also had no away fans because of fighting and throwing fireworks.

Great vlog Sam!
Some scenes at that game, and, considering their league positions, a really passionate atmosphere.
Enjoyed that immensely mate.
That ruling is absolutely absurd ! That means that after one suspension if objects come on the pitch again idiots of one team can then get the game called off if they are losing !
Amazing atmosphere! Proof some of the ‘smaller’ games are sometimes the best!
I was there in the stand opposite, my first visit after being friends with some NAC fans for over 25 years. One of my old Burnley shirts is in the ceiling of the Supporters club you were in!
Great to see this thanks but also wish you had been in the city centre from 3pm, it was crazy and absolutely brilliant!

This are the new rules after the incident with Davey klaassen at F'noord-Ajax.
This gonna be happen more often the next few week i think.
It's an overreaction.
@@paulrussell1207 I guess it has the desired effect, since the fans are already 'correcting' each other
@@tvdijen "Correcting" lol, by throwing punches? It kind of makes the medicine as bad as the illness, no? I mean it could work after a few abandoned matches if supporters know if you throw objects, the game gets cancelled, zero conditional, maybe they'll stop. It sounds a bit odd but the referee should kind of discriminate against what objects are being thrown and when. We went through a phase of it in Scotland in the 2000's, usually coins. Coins and lighters are bad. Plastic cups not so much. A flare aimed at nobody in particular? I guess the ref can't do a forensic check every time. When the Klaassen incident is old news, maybe it'll calm down to an equilibrium.
@@paulrussell1207 yes, works much better than arresting and sending them off with a lousy fine. These guys have some explaining to do when they up at work all bruised up. Can't feel sorry for them

I´m a NAC fan a proud NAC fan. Have always been proud and still. 99% of the supporters that evening condemmed the actions of those rascals. (which probably werent NAC fans, by what I read on the web) This is something that many people expected to happen, or atleast most of us realised it was a big risk to happen. Also I think it´s rediculous the willem ii player came to provoke after the goal, he has no business being there. There were no winners this match. Late to the show here, but what an incredible thing to see... Love seeing you two colab though, both great footy UA-camrs
there are now a number of scenarios that can play out.
the first is that the match is not completed and the current score (0-1) is used as the final score.
the second is that the game will be finished at a later time with about 15 minutes to play, whether with or without any fans, is determined by the KNVB (Dutch Football Association). History tells us that it will most likely be without any fans on a random Tuesday afternoon.
the other is that the game has to be played all over again from the first minute with the score 0-0 (most likely not, since the home crowd itself threw beer).
or the match is no longer played and Willem II legally wins 0-3 (also very likely not, because this is usually used when one team refuses to play).
My wife is Dutch. One time her brother took me to a match between Herenveen and Feyenord. Fun fact Herenveen is a town in North West holland called Friesland. They have their own language from Dutch and their own Anthem. A bit like the Welsh in thhe UK. Anyhow, because Feyenoord were in town the ground was like an armed camp with riot police everywhere. Great atmosphere in the stadium. Saw Dirk Kuyt before his transfer to LFC. Great game, which ended 1-1. YNWA
This Sunday is derby day again (this time at w2), really nice watching this to get in the mood. Hup NAC!
Nice to see that you visit my club Nac Breda 😄good video also thanks mate
Around 27:15 the fighting was mainly against the "supporters" throwing the beers and ruining it for everyone else. Since that stand is filled with die-hard supporters those die-hards take matters into their own hands and beat up the ones that ruined the match.
Soft call off tho
@@samuelpinder1215 It was called off due to the new rules that are proposed, the rules refer too the lighter incident at Feyenoord - Ajax, They got warned in the stadium after the firework. They threw stuff again so the referee has to call-off the game, good decision.
@@Dutchology imagine if west ham did that for all the bubbles. Its basically the same as that. Its completely stupid. Games gone soft

Lower tier derbies are always the best ones
This rule is absurd! So if my team is having a bad day I just throw a couple of stuff to the pitch and hope they improve the next day????
Yeh agree it’s a rule that’s open to abuse. However it’s more likely due to drunkenness lol
I used to be a matchday steward, and it's still bizarre to see people drinking alcohol within sight of the pitch. You'd expect them to be able to deal with the pyros coming on, much as they can cause injuries, but the hail of missiles was something else.

This new rule is absolute dumb from the knvb if u score and go to the home fans it wil be suspended

Back in the 2004-05 La Liga season, Real Madrid and Real Sociedad were drawing 1-1 on min 83. There was then a bomb scare meaning both clubs returned the following month, in early January 2005, to play the last 7 minutes in the Santiago Bernebeu. I went in person to the stadium as it was free entry and saw Ronaldo get taken down the box and Zidane convert the penalty to make it 2-1. Luxemburgo then made two substitutions to bring down the clock. Real Sociedad had been spending time on the training ground taking goal kicks to get some sort of early advantage as that was where play was to resume. It was a bizarre experience yet one of many when I lived in Madrid. It felt like there was only a few thousand inside the ground; a surreal experience all round.
Count me in Sam, Excellent footy channel, 😀👍
One fact about Willem II, their fan base are actually friends with Bristol City of the Championship and also Royal Antwerp from nearby across the border. 🇳🇱🤝🏴🤝🇧🇪
True we've had some great weekends in Tilburg
I bet on that game both teams to score, it was the last leg of my parlay, but since it was cancelled after 1 goal I am kinda glad I still won some money, but it is bad that the derby was cancelled midway through it.
Didn't know about this derby game but was well aware of the rivalry between Feyenoord and Ajax, who really hate each other. A few years ago the Dutch authorities tried to clamp down on football violence and it was largely successful in the grounds and on game days but that didn't stop fans arranging to meet up, often miles away from their home ground, to have a fight with a rival team. On one occasion there were arrests at a meet up between Feyenoord and Ajax fans and apparently one person was found to be in possession of a bomb (most likely a hand grenade, rather than something that would be dropped from an aircraft) but that highlights how serious the situation had become. I had expected this game to be abandoned due to fans fighting in the ground, until it was mentioned that it would be home fans only, my question would be how well were the fans searched on entry if that many could smuggle fireworks in? Crazy!
To answer your last sentence, the fireworks are already inside before the stadium is open for fans in most of the cases.;)
Honestly good on the Dutch authorities fan behavior is out of line all across the world. Throwing things on the pitch that can cause harm and on other fans should never be ok.
Amazing video brother.
I didn't see one of your questions awnsered but you can call the club both N-A-C or NAC. Officially it is spelled out but we use them both. Also today was the derby at the grounds off willem II and it was cancelled in the 54th minute
@FootyAdventures you have to go next season to the ijselderby its one of the biggest rivalries in the dutch football world and its always chaos
