This offense woke up together all at the same time. Alvarez will be an all star catcher. At his age and with his ability to learn patience at the plate.....he's going to get more consistent as a power hitter. There's no doubt in my mind that he will be one of the best power catchers of all time if he can stay healthy throughout his career.
Hi Ryan, something I'm noticing is that Mendoza now has a better understanding of the team along with J.D. Martinez helping with the hitting that Alveraz indicated last night after the game. The team right now is pumping on all cylinders this team was much maligned at the beginning of the season and is now truly showing everyone around the league how good this team can be. They have destroyed some outstanding pitching, hopefully, this will continue.
Do you guys remember a couple years ago when we were trying to make a splash at the trade deadline and people were saying trade Francisco Alvarez the front office said no he’s untouchable, now we see why!
Yes, Manea left because of the rain delay. Everyone's hot, but Alvarez is really impressing me. Reminds me of Juan Soto in 2019....fearless, and ultrs confident. Even with an 0-2 count, he's laying off tough pitches, and doesn't let the situation beat him. I can't remember the lineup, but I'd definitely put him after Pete, if he isn't already there. His ability to settle down the starters is insane.....he had a lot to do with escaping those bases loaded situations. Torrens is no slouch either, and this is easily our best catching duo since Piazza and Pratt.
Thinking it's Martinez's magic that he's sprinkled on the whole team. But Alvarez's eye at the plate with 2 strikes has completely transformed since coming back from the IL. Like day & night.
Going into this series I thought it would be a split, but that was before I knew that the Yankees were asking Gerrit Cole to rehab by pitching actual big league games. SMH
This is completely random & I apologize but as good as things are going we will learn a lot about Cohens thirst for becoming great when Soto is there to be acquired for only money which Cohen has the most of any owner in American sports.
The METS need to acquire a setup man to compliment EDWIN DIAZ. MASON MILLER wouldn't be a bad fit. Also MARK VIENTOS should be bitting in front of TYRONE TAYLOR.
He’s always been a shaky defender. Whatever money goes towards him is because of his bat (and eye). If the Mets pursue him, I’m sure Stearns and Cohen will have a plan for how to use him.
Need to strengthen the bullpen, and grab a starter. Hopefully Senga will be back and make a difference. Maybe Soto now will view the Mets as a team worth playing for. Sign Alvarez long term now like Atlanta does.
It’s crazy how the Mets went from definite sellers at the deadline to now expected buyers. If Stearns can fill in a few holes of this team, they can be really scary.
@@cooldude7821 A #2 starter would cost them a ton of prospects. The Mets are hot right now, but in September, they will be playing 8 games against the Phillies, 4 games against the Brewers, 4 games against the Red Sox and 4 games against the Braves. Other teams have an easy schedule down the stretch. I just can't see them getting into the wildcard.
@@fr2ncm9 If this team keeps hitting like they have. Which is possible but not likely. Then they're definitely grabbing 1 of the last 2 wild cards. If the bats come back down to earth & they have to rely more on their pitching. Then No.
I can't believe that 2 weeks ago I posted that the Mets should have a fire sale. Now they have taken off. Not to say some surgical removal so that the youngsters can take there place.
PLEASE do not toy with the chemistry of the position player lineup and that includes McNeil. No lineup is 100%. McNeil is fielding and his bat could come alive when someone else hits a temporary funk. As for the pitching. I have never been a fan of Megill or Peterson. Whenever Megill is announced, IMO, it's an automatic loss. He can go. Peterson, waiting a little longer to see what happens since his surgery. Houser, I still hold my breath. BUT I do have a gnawing suspicion about Senga "milking" his contract. Heck, we'd all like to stay home from work and tell our boss we don't feel right and get paid. What exactly is his problem at this point? 🤔
Senga is definitely not milking his contract. He has an opt-out that triggers in his contract if he hits 400 IP from 2023-2025. Being hurt this year has probably cost him tens of millions of dollars.
I’m always cautious in my statements, predictions, comparisons etc…. So for me to even insinuate this is rare. Society is so over-the-top in its proclamations in this day-and-age….. so I gotta say this….. ALVAREZ starting to remind me a little of YADIER MOLINA.
I believe the Mets sweep the Bronx bomber's because home Field advantage helps teams do better in there 😺😺😺😺 home Ball Park the Mets are insane this year no questions about it 😃👍
I feel like this is the worst thing that could happen. now they aren’t going to trade bc they think they have a chance at the playoffs. They could make the playoffs but let’s be honest this isn’t a championship team. Need to commit to the rebuild and trade away and get good prospect. Pete A going to be gone with almost nothing to show for him.
@@Trottah I agree with @1TightMinute. The team is hot right now. They won't be able to keep this up all season. Have you seen their schedule in September? Most of the teams they will play are division leaders or teams like the Red Sox. Even if they sell off, they will still have enough young talent to compete for a wild card next year, and they will have added some top prospects who can make them a sustainable contender.
Where the hell are those so called "METS' fans who were crying for MINI MARKET STEARNS to break up the team and trade everybody. THESE SO CALLED "FANS" are just a bunch of front runners.
I still think they should sell. You can't expect them to play 600 ball the rest of the season. Not even the Phillies or the Orioles can do that. Outside of the Yankees, the Mets have been fortunate to play a lot of mediocre teams while they have been on a roll. September will be the toughest month on their schedule. They have to play 7 games against the Phillies, 4 against the Braves, 4 against the Brewers, and 3 against the Red Sox.
@@fr2ncm9 There's also a chance that Senga & Scott will be back by then. A reinforcement or 2 in the bullpen. Anything is possible. Arizona basically showed you that in 2023.
I was calling for a fire sale. First time I made a comment since I've been a fan. I wish you would call me a front runner when I've been a fan since dayv1 back in 1962. I was going by what they were showing, and felt cutting loses to built a sustainable future would be the thing to do. I do feel they still need to do a surgical removal of what I see as expendable players to allow for the future players to take their place.

And hopefully the Mets see this and sign him long term
His future is so bright, he could absolutely be the best catcher in the league. Would love for the Mets to lock him down long-term.
The only thing I worry about with depending on offense from a catcher is that they tend to get banged up alot and that could limit them offensively.

Add a locked-down 8th inning reliever.
Expensive.

Well, if you want to get some real talent, you will have to part with some prospects. I don't know that I'm comfortable with that.
@@fr2ncm9 and the point I’m making is thank God we didn’t do it

Hey @cooldude 7821, you are wrong because you are a COLD DUDE.
There ain’t no maybe about Butto being better than Megill. Butto is definitely better than Megill.
Hitting should be able to keep the Mets in games when their pitching derails, as it always does.
This is completely random & I apologize but as good as things are going we will learn a lot about Cohens thirst for becoming great when Soto is there to be acquired for only money which Cohen has the most of any owner in American sports.
Sorry fella. He doesn't have more money than Steve Balmer.
The METS need to acquire a setup man to compliment EDWIN DIAZ. MASON MILLER wouldn't be a bad fit. Also MARK VIENTOS should be bitting in front of TYRONE TAYLOR.
Miller is good, but closers don't like to become 8th inning guys.
Miller would be crazy expensive too, given his ability and team control. Don’t think the A’s are letting him go unless they’re blown away.
Diaz would be setting him up if they acquired him
Are you willing to part with Jett Williams, Drew Gilbert, and Brandon Sproat to get him?
Soto was horrible in right field last night. If he plays defense in Citi Field like that.....I definitely would pass on paying insane money for him.
