      Lol you noticed that as well? The early reviews were really poor. They ignored issues and the problems at launch.. just saying how amazing it is.. Now I do like the A500 mini but it was far from perfect outside the already included games.

    Definitely worth every penny! Great video. The d-pad works good for some games and for the ones that don't I use my C64 maxi joystick. A good example is I found the d-pad worked better for playing Star Wars the arcade game than the joystick did but for some other games the joystick worked better. I will have to see if there are any great all-in-one controller / joysticks for it.

    Im playing with mine lots, rarely touch my PS5 now. Got myself a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so the whole 3 USB thing isn’t an issue as they use the same dongle. Ineed to get good joystick so i can do away with the joypad, not that its bad, just that it doesn’t feel as retro as i want.

      That's how I have it set up, wireless keyboard and mouse. I like the tank mouse, very retro, but don't need to use it all the time.

    I've only had mine for around a month and I haven't even scratched the surface of all that you can do on it...I got sick of the tank mouse pretty quickly and switched it out with a cheap, wireless scroll mouse and the lack of a keyboard isn't an issue for me since I prefer a wireless keyboard anyway.

    I have one with the Retroarch add-on. Some games seem to run better with the emulator via Retroarch. I like it overall and appreciate the effort! I use a USB switch to power down. Actually they do run better- not "seems".

    I'll have to try using some ADF files. Later today I'll see if I can hunt some down and see if it makes a difference. On my coffee table the two computers displayed there is the C64 Maxi and the Amiga A500. Good times! 🕹️

    Maybe an Amiga maxi, whenever it arrives, will fix all the issues when adding your own games. This was essential for me on the C64 maxi, with all the lovely new homebrews available. There’s no issues with speed when adding your own games- the only issue I had was a few games refusing to boot, joystick set to the wrong port, and Sonic C64 not working on the Carousel. The Amiga Mini is all about plug and play and avoiding messing about with settings, as you have to do in win u ae on a PC. Most issues are probably down to the kickstart and Amiga versions being the wrong type, same with the emulators on PC. Adding your own games is essential as more and more games get released, so not fixing the speed issues would be an oversight by Retro Games. Let’s see what they come up with when the Amiga maxi lands or there’s another mini firmware improvement. I respect your honesty in saying it’s a hassle sometimes playing Amiga. I think the Amiga has always been more problematic than say emulating old consoles, less the usual suspect consoles such as N64. Let’s hope all the issues are corrected within time.

  • @Tech-geeky

    The A500 mini seems good, but the brief (very brief"), time i used one, i was looking down all the time for the which controls remap to which gamepad buttons. No matter what emulator you use, your gonna run into that issue, but i think its more the limited area they have to work with that's an issue.. I would even call is a 'design issue' they cannot easily solve.
    They can guarantee this with 25 games (bundled) all work 100% with the gamepad only, but still the remapping controls to buttons is really irritating for me
    That's probable a user problem... and adding a real keyboard to the A500 "maxi" in Q4 2024 might help... Still.. all of this runs Amiberry which is limited in itself anyway, so there is no way to get away from that.

    Loving mine still .. As for Pandory not working after the update .. Well if i want to run other systems i will use my SNES mini etc.
    I want an Amiga to use as an Amiga and that it does amazingly especially using AGS2 or Aminimiga' RTG workbench.
    In fact it does it so well and so much faster im seriously considering selling my real A1200.
    I find it odd that many buy THEC64, THEA500 then complain they can no longer run other systems after a really cool update.
    As long as Workbench etc work then its perfect for what it is supposed to be ?

      Really is straight forward. I've had it day one and only installed the games I want and have fond memories of. Nearly all emulate without a problem and I've done zero tinkering with the settings.
      It's a great system and I personally don't think the price is too bad either.

  • @JohnnyProctor9

    I've tried both AminiMiga and Arcade Game Selector 2, and I VASTLY prefer Aminimiga because AGS2 is cluttered with the French and German versions of all the games which you seemingly can't delete because all of the games are together on hard drive images whereas at least on AminiMiga you can delete the French and German versions, demos, music, and whatever else you don't need and it still works fine...you can even add your own games to it if you find something that isn't already there!

    • @mrv2k2000

    • @JohnnyProctor9
      @JohnnyProctor9 2 роки тому

      @@mrv2k2000 - Sorry, would it be possible to make it easily editable? AGS2 still has a superior game library since it has most of the CD32 stuff, I just got sick of sifting through it all and installed the CD32 games that I wanted on the Amiga core in Pandory instead...I could try it again if it's still under development with the possibility of being able to delete and/or add your own games to it at some point. I already had AminiMiga since a few days after I got my A500 Mini and only heard about AGS2 a week or two ago, so I downloaded, installed, and tried it for 2 or 3 days but as I said I got sick of sifting through all of the French and German stuff on the menu to find games in my own language and wanted to get rid of the demos altogether since I never bother with such things...if there's no way to add an option to edit the list, maybe release separate versions for each language and possibly optional demo-free versions? Either way, yeah, I'll probably give it another chance at some point if you're still working on it...I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or discredit your hard work. Also I still kind of prefer the Workbench UI of AminiMiga, as ugly as it is...you know, nostalgia.

    Still loving mine. I had no issues using the dpad with games. Some of my faves don't emulate so well though. We could have done with the ability to use the full amiberry options though.

    • @Tech-geeky
      @Tech-geeky 10 місяців тому

      full Amiberry options ? Amiberry is stripped down version of WinUAE... less features,, doesn't support (cartridges like Action Replay III) etc.. and has other issues..
      It does good for low end hardware (which its was designed for),but that often means giving up featues too.

      Cheers buddy. I haven't had much time with the Amiga mini under Pandory. I have got it working but that's as far as I have gotten 🤔. It is a decent machine, just that the emulation/ gui/ user interface needs some tweaking. I'm sure that will happen especially if there's an Amiga maxi.

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  11 місяців тому +1

      Yeah it wasn't perfect at all, the deeper you look into it, it's got issues. Certainly needs a lot of effort to get some games running better. Pandory has its own history too... they initially blocked it via firmware update..

    I love The A500 Mini! I think that people should avoid installing the firmware updates, though. The A500 Mini can also be used as an accelerated version of the Amiga with versions of the Workbench, such as "Amiga Inside", which has a lot of games, serious applications, and utilities pre installed. I couldn't get Aminimiga to boot up at all, though. I still need to get a joystick so I can play some games such as "Barbarian" (Palace), though. I'm not sure which joystick to get. I heard that the C64 Mini joystick is crap. The only compatible version of "Barbarian" (Palace) without using an ADF image which I've found is pre installed under "Amiga Inside".

    • @CrazyBurger

      Some do.. honestly depends if you are using ADF files or whdload.. and depends on the game. Some of the other platforms like Aminimiga/AGS2 can be better as it's been preconfigured to run better game by game.. but it doesn't always work that way.
