I don't know why but the "Te-Te-Telephone rings" is one of my most favorite vocal lines I have ever heard even though it is so simple it just fits perfectly with the song while also being really unexpected.
I really like that line because it embeds the sort of anxiety he has about picking up that call where she tells him that they should let their lives divide.
As a musician (which doesn't really mean very much) the line is pretty simple, yeah. But if I were to put myself into the shoes of Donovan coming up with these lyrics and the melodies and rhythms they exist in, I can't say I'd have came up with something so fucking perfectly fitting, fun to sing along with, and in my opinion just simplistically kind of gaddayum genius.

I know you posted this 3y ago now, so I'm a bit late(and you might have already done a deep dive on their discog by now), but these are my favorite of their more 'indie' kind of songs. Also, worth mentioning, Donovan's solo album Chelsea Park After Dark (or sumn like that) is definitely more of the slow, indie vibes
Everyone saying there's a difference between being inspired by circa and copying them, have it backwards. This is a straight copy of circa and AG. The intro, the melody, the "te te telephone", and most easily recognized, "so fucking anxious" is an EXACT copy of Meet Me in Montauks "so fucking boring." I love these guys, but it's hard to not see such a huge resemblance to circa songs. If you disagree, you're in denial.

I've listened to Meet Me in Montauk a billion fucking times, and I've listened to this song a lot, and never once did I think that the use of "So fucking 'adjective'" was in any way a rip off of anything that Anthony Green has ever done. Donovan's voice is similar in tonal quality to Anthony's voice, that is where the similarities end. Hail The Sun's musical compositions are completely different, their lyrics and delivery of those lyrics are completely different, and while I'm sure Anthony Green has been an influence on Donovan I can guarantee there are plenty of other influences on this band. I'm so sick of it, on every single fucking Tides of Man, ALLB, Hail The Sun, Stolas, and Sianvar video there are nothing but "omg it's like Circa Survive and Emarosa had a baby that fucked Emery's long lost cousin, had a baby and then spliced it's dna with DGD's bastard son while jerking off to Coheed and Cambria's second album!" comments and they realllyyyyy get fucking old considering none of these bands rip each other off and they are are completely distinct sonically to any of the other bands named. Like saying Alice in Chains and Nirvana are the same fucking thing. Just fucking retarded, and it takes credit away from the musicians.
